I know this is a lot to ask for but do you think you can pull of the same trick with grids?
Having so that grids stop moving/spinning would make it easier to convert debris into scrap, plus having a ship surrounded by pieces of itself I think would look pretty cool.

@dragonkeep At least Keen fixed the backpacks having collision with players. Can't count how many times I went chasing after a backpack in deep space and died smacking into the backpack itself. Then you have to chase after both packs, and good luck figuring out which has your stuff. =P

@TheHellKat, should have seen the backpack this 1 time I died mid-air on earth-like. Bounced and kept going, energizer bunny style. Made 5 KM before I stopped caring.

Normal floating objects will slow down once they leave a gravity field however the backpack is different. It can maintain its speed until it despawns.

All floating objects normally slow down once they get a certain distance away from players.
