@Smoore:

It's ownership on all blocks the same?
Whiplash141  [autor] 1 JUN a las 11:22
Not possible to skid steer around the front wheels like that
OutcastZeroOne 1 JUN a las 10:39
trying to set this up on a forklift with only 4 wheels with the front fixed wheels being the pivot point. any ideas how to do this?

Mr. Whip: 1. thank you for all your contributions to the community. I don't think i would have the hours in this game if not for your massive QoL scripts. 2. I also have the "Skid Steering" group not found error message and could use some help. I have triple checked that i followed the instructions; what information can i provide for a little bit of troubleshooting? Funny thing is I had it working, but decided i didn't like how the rover i'm building was turning out, reloaded a save, made some adjustments to the lower grid, and then couldn't get the script to work. I ground down the PB located on the upper grid, reloaded the world, relaunched the game, all ownership is set to me, and the group name is "Skid Steering". I'm stuck :/. I'm building this: https://uk.pinterest.com/pin/611785930602654605/

Fair enough lol, thanks anyways!

"Do you have one that has a turret position indicator kinda like the screen on this one?"

Yes, i can't remember where I put it though lol
Autumn 4 ABR a las 17:43
Absolutely loving this script. Do you have one that has a turret position indicator kinda like the screen on this one? Would love an easier way to keep track of where my turrets are for the ones with an angle that makes it difficult!
Whiplash141  [autor] 8 FEB a las 12:14
Yeah I've been meaning to do that
TheHellKat 7 FEB a las 7:03
Hey Whip, been using this script for... Well I'm not really sure, a very long time?

Anyway awesome script, never had it fail on me, I only realized today that it can control subgrids! Honestly had no idea.

One issue with subgrids control is no hand brake feature or brake, would it be possible to add that?

Many thanks 👍
Gemini Sierra 6 ENE a las 8:21
apologies, the description I was referring to was in the comments at the top of the script.
I think the comments/instructions at the top of the scripts are great. save from having to open a separate window to read the notes.

Would you be able to answer my other question, how to adjust the speed of the turning? I think it has to do with the friction settings, but I'm unsure of which to adjust
Whiplash141  [autor] 5 ENE a las 19:17
@Gemini Sierra:
The description above has Skid Steering in bold and italicized. Always follow the instructions on the workshop page if the comment differs. I will be removing all of the setup instructions from scripts to avoid this desync in the future.
Gemini Sierra 5 ENE a las 17:09
@Jonnyhawkeye
I had that too... and looked in the script... it should be "Skid Steering".
The description has "Skid steering" but the variable it looks for is "Skid Steering"
Gemini Sierra 5 ENE a las 17:07
What variable do I need to change to adjust the turning speed?
LordEidar 23 NOV 2024 a las 13:47
Hi, I built an asymmetrical rover and when I press forward it pulls on one side? Is it because cockpit is off centre?
Sergei Korolev 2 NOV 2024 a las 20:53
Hi, am trying to use the script on a vehicle. am using the track framework mod. when i use the script and try to turn, it kinda just vibrates and drive forward.
Whiplash141  [autor] 29 OCT 2024 a las 20:13
Spelling and capitalization the same?
Also, is ownership of every block on that ship set to you (including the programmable block)?
Jonnyhawkeye 29 OCT 2024 a las 18:06
it keeps saying no group named "Skid steering" found, yet i made the group!
Eevee 7 OCT 2024 a las 13:15
so question about the script, if i have a on my hot bar to turn it on and off could i swap to skid steering on the fly?
TNTboss 3 OCT 2024 a las 18:05
I am an idiot. The workshop file should work now.
Whiplash141  [autor] 2 OCT 2024 a las 20:42
Oof: "There was a problem accessing the item. Please try again."
TNTboss 2 OCT 2024 a las 18:27
Ah, sorry for the late response. Didn't know my profile was private. Here is a link to the blueprint:

Hey, I have been using this script for a long time and I got back after a long time of not playing and it stopped working for one of my vehicles. It works just fine on my other vehicles.

I used a blueprint I knew worked before, no luck.
I checked the block group's name and selected blocks, all looks good.
I even updated the script to the latest version.

The odd thing I noticed was the programmable block recognized the block group, but not the Controller, Wheels, or Gyro. They were listed as "(none)" or "0".

The blueprint in question is my "M1 Abrams" which can be found in my workshop. Any help would be appreciated!
A_Superior_DuDe 24 SEP 2024 a las 2:14
Tangent, most likely you don't have In-Game scripts enabled on your world. Check the options for the world in question and make sure to enable the script option :)
Tangent 10 SEP 2024 a las 23:59
After relearning how to use programmable blocks it seems I have a mod that breaks the programmable block - I don't see the "edit" function in my current world but I do in a fresh one. Sorry to waste your time.
Whiplash141  [autor] 10 SEP 2024 a las 22:49
Not a mod, its a script for the programmable block
Tangent 10 SEP 2024 a las 16:43
I can't find this in my mod list. I've resubscribed to no avail. I remember this working like a charm years ago but I've come back and am at a loss.
Whiplash141  [autor] 6 AGO 2024 a las 17:37
Yes. Braking will be a bit scuffed, but control does extend over subgrids provided that the desired wheels are in the "Skid Steering" group
Juna-Tah 6 AGO 2024 a las 10:07
Does this work with the wheels being on separate grids attached to the main body?
Tecrys 19 ENE 2024 a las 2:28
Hi! Love your scripts.
I'd like to include some wheels in the skid steering group for adaptive friction but still turn normally with them. I tried the skid ignore name tag but that didn't work. Current workaround is having 20% friction on those wheels.
Whiplash141  [autor] 31 DIC 2023 a las 11:03
The turret? I'm using TCES for my turret control, so it is stabilized by that script. MART also does stabilization.
alordek 31 DIC 2023 a las 5:47
How do I make the tank tower stay in its place regardless of the base as in the photo? I can't understand why I can't do it.
WindUpHero7 6 AGO 2023 a las 20:30
Can this script work with only gyros, without wheels at all? I'm just looking for a way to turn the bottom half of my ship with gyros pressing A/D while controlling the top half gyros with the mouse.
Whiplash141  [autor] 1 AGO 2023 a las 19:11
yes, that is supported
Kiruno 1 AGO 2023 a las 18:27
This is a very nice script. Could it work if the treads were located on several separate subgrids? I'm very excited to try this out.
Monk 18 MAY 2023 a las 0:11
That would be really awesome!! If it is not too much effort ofc. I dont know how to code, but if i can help in anyway let me know!
Whiplash141  [autor] 17 MAY 2023 a las 21:15
That isnt really supported but i could maybe add that as an option
Monk 17 MAY 2023 a las 13:52
I probably am missing something, but I can't seem to turn whilst controlling a custom turret controller? What am I doing wrong?
Whiplash141  [autor] 27 ABR 2023 a las 17:28
Ahh odd, glad to hear it isn't the script though!
Souls 27 ABR 2023 a las 12:37
@Whiplash141: Hmm. I just checked the grid in another world and the issue did not happen, so it seems to be an issue with the world more than the script, apologies.
Whiplash141  [autor] 27 ABR 2023 a las 6:23
that is nowhere near enough wheels to cause any noticeable performance impact nominally... Do you have a copy of this grid i can take a look at?
Souls 26 ABR 2023 a las 11:47
@Whiplash141: Six small grid 5x5 suspensions. Using gyros to assist. No subgrids involved.
Whiplash141  [autor] 26 ABR 2023 a las 8:00
@Game: Hmm, not really. Is this with or without assistance gyros?

@Souls: Not really... How many wheels do you have?
Souls 25 ABR 2023 a las 22:54
I get a HEAVY simspeed drop when steering with this script for some reason, any ideas why? Driving straight is fine, accelerating, decelerating, or otherwise. But steering drops simspeed to like 0.5ish.
Game 21 MAR 2023 a las 21:59
Sooo whenever i try to turn on my tank it starts spinning properly, then yanks around a full 180 or 360 degrees in the direction of the turn... any ideas?
NightWolf 20 MAR 2023 a las 15:34
Oh wait, I don't think it's the script, sorry!
NightWolf 20 MAR 2023 a las 15:22
Whenever I enable handbrake the wheels just stop working. They can jump but cant move forward/back. How do I fix this?
Whiplash141  [autor] 20 FEB 2023 a las 14:43
"Any chance you can put in the handbrake / parking break feature from your subgrid wheel script into this one for those of us stupid enough to build mostly on subgrids?"

It's not in this script, but I can add an option for it

@blackwatch, you can configure how long that friction transition takes in custom data. If it is slow it will be more stable
Skybox 19 FEB 2023 a las 9:20
Any chance you can put in the handbrake / parking break feature from your subgrid wheel script into this one for those of us stupid enough to build mostly on subgrids? If it is on here already I havent been able to make it work
Blacky Watchy 8 FEB 2023 a las 14:05
im having issue with drifting more than initial D. it is more or less fixed by the friction raising when im not driving on turning but that brings in another problem, the friction change makes the tank to be dangerously close of tippingtoward the side it would usually drift. is there a way to make it more controlable?
