Probably just a design choice by enenra, but feel free to adjust it to your liking!
@Sleipnir_Schwanz49
Please submit your world for testing if you are still having issues
The reason I ask is I'm thinking about modifying your Vanilla tech tree to switch the two. I want to set up a scenario where the player crashes on a desert planet (Dusty Desert Planet mod), and that planet has NO ice/water on it. I'd like to hear your thoughts as the author before I go making changes though.
I've just tested the mod in an old and new save, in creative and survival, and both are working as intended.
The next step for you would be to publish your world and send us the link so we can look at your specific setup. Thanks :)
I tried several games by now, even just the base game with no other mods. Always everything is unlocked.
See if you can find the connector in the G menu though. Often people think everything is still unlocked but are just seeing the basic blocks that are left unlocked on purpose.
Is this still working in the current version?
And it's really strange - I created new world because I tried all things to fix progression in the old one. And now I don't see most of the blocks.
Seems like the mod is afraid of your and fixes :)
Thank you for the fast response
I would like to join all grateful comments but the work doesn't work for me. I mean there is no unique tech tree or any block restriction.
Can anybody help me? Is there anything I do wrong?
Created new Solar System with 4 mods only (order saved):
- AQD Vanilla Tech Tree
- AQD Research
- Block restriction
- Research System Framework
Advanced options set to default + enable ingame scripts
When I spawns I can see all blocks already unlocked.
Thanks in advance.
To make sure, please only add this and the Research mod to a new world and make sure the issue occurs then as well.
Good to hear it works though!
So you're right, it works properly and I was blind, but for some reason it reorders the blocks in the G menu, this is why I didn't see them initially in my save that only had the tech tree loaded and nothing else
I can't seem to reproduce this. Could you try this on a fresh save with only the vanilla research tree installed and see if those light armor blocks are still initially locked?
Since they don't add any utility other than extra shapes, I assume it's not intended to lock the light block variants behind heavy blocks.
That would be because you have to first research hinges.
Resarch Advanced Item Transfer -> Item Transfer Shematic again.
How to get Advanced Item Transfer Shematic?
Yes. My Vanilla Ore Distribution mod will force players to travel to different planets in order to gather all ore types.
Great to hear you're enjoying the mod! Note that you can build rotor turrets much earlier than "normal" turrets. :-)
day 1 With Assertive and planetary instillations installed I made a rover, rushed ammo and took over one of the PI bases to be my new home then went out to attack some more bases and lost the rover but spawned more bases..
day 2 The assertive bases have woken up and are attacking the hell out of me, literally spent about 8 hours just trying to defend the base and work with little supplies (using Aww Scrap mod) never been so stressed in SE in my life!
day 3, getting on top of things, another day of patching up holes but getting enough mats from grinding down drones to do some tier 1 research, still cant make turrets tho so every day I have to rush like crazy to keep the ones I have alive
Summary
This mod has made this experience incredible!! if I wasn't locked behind the research I would have just built loads of turrets by now and it would have been a lot easier but this mod is giving me the challenge I wanted, really enjoying it.
This heavily promotes the use of drones for day to day activities forcing me to learn how to problem solve remotely, cant wait to try this
In my current solo game i have been restarting every time i die (permadeath with medbays and survival kits banned) but i may allow respawns with this mod as the negative effect of dying
Question: Do you have any mods that force the player to explore other planets to unlock progression?
Thanks for the great work :)
What do you mean by your statement about conveyors? This tech tree doesn't lock conveyors, only connectors. Which can be substituted in the early game by droppers and collectors.
What do you mean regarding researching something 2 or 3 times? Do the blocks not unlock when you hold the schematic? Or do you mean that because you lose the schematic when you research the higher tier schematic, and unlocks are wiped on death, that you have to research the basic schematic again to get it back?
Regarding blocks being automatically added to the tech tree, I have no plans on doing that. Not because it's impossible but rather because that's not how I want this mod to work. :-)
I would also like to know if you have a means to "teach" the reseach more stuff based on mods.
i remember the learn to grind by phoenix was something that could "LEARN" new blocks based on G menu.
i have some experience editing that so maybe some integration could be done. where it can learn as it goes!. Thanks.. and Peace out.

or add me on steam (im invis on both but get messages)
I am enjoying using it. my only fault i see so far. it don't unlock blocks listed without researching say 2 or 3 times. If thats the i dare.. that's ok. if not. i will say it took me 60 research to unlock connectors.
and another 20 to finish the tree.
Less mats for first tire would be good. (i have not ajusted the multiplier. im not sure quite what i need to do to make it faster./less mats. if the is an adjustment.
I did not check but as mentioned before, vanilla progression has no influence on this. You can leave it disabled. :-)
now, just out of curiosity; did it show the tooltip 'progression diabled' (g-menue, hover over progression tab) when u load the world ?
I've just tested your world and the blocks that should be locked are all locked. For example, if you look at your G screen, only 1x1 and 3x3 small grid wheels are available. No 5x5 or large grid versions. The vanilla tech tree I've made does not lock all blocks by default, only some. :-)
Can you please upload your savegame to the workshop and link it? We'll have a look. :-)
