I've added a cvar for changing the binding, add the following line to the end of steamapps/common/Half-Life Alyx/game/hlvr/cfg/skill_hlvr.cfg

flashlight_toggle_action 13

Index 13 is Toggle Laser Sight, you can replace it with any other binding from this list here:

I absolute love this mod, but this button layout is the worst possible choice for flashlight on and off, because whenever I grab or catch something or interact with the world (which I do with both triggers or only the upper trigger) the flashlight goes on and off constantly. Is there a way to bind the B or Y button for flashlight toggle on and off instead? I cannot find it in the controller config, just toggle laser on and off (which does not affect the flashlight).
Is there any way to bind a different button for this awesome mod please?

Start a new game, addons can't be toggled for existing saves.

FlashLIght Toggle Button MOd doesn't seem to be working for me. I Sub'd to Scalable Init... then I Sub'd to FlashLight Toggle; then loaded the game; went into Add-Ons... Turned on FlashLight Mod... then Turned on Scalable Init Mod (So Scalable Init was the Last Mod Activated); loaded my latest Save Game; hit the Left Hand (and tried Right Hand) Arm Grenade button (Note: While I had nothing in my hands): But the FlashLight never game on.

I then tried Turning Off the FlashLight, and Back on; so it was the last add-on turned on; but that didn't work either.

Note: I have no other Add-Ons... Just these two.

Any Ideas?

@Cold Finger left joystick click is already used for changing height

@Cricreto 1. even when in "lit areas" some parts of the game are still dark and hard to see. 2. because we want it that's why 3. having performance issues? get a better computer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Quick question, aside from taking some cool screenshots, why would you want this? As they said in the dev commentary, flashlights are very expensive to render, so by restricting it to certain areas they were able to increase performance and graphical fidelity where it mattered most. So basically, you're getting worse performance, for.......the ability to toggle a flashlight where you wouldn't even need it? No disrespect to the mod maker of course, but for anyone using it, why?

The "Arm grenade button" is A on the left hand.
A on left hand does not toggle the light.
Since I installed this the light is just always on, so it clearly changed something, but it does not recognise the toggle input, any idea what's going on?

lol @crowbar45, yes in order for the addon to work you must have "make addons work" enabled.

This is such a small but useful mod. Really great. I'm not sure if this is even possible, but it'd be amazing if you could toggle the light by touching it with your right hand. It'd be really immersive, I think!

This has just been updated to support custom maps too, and now requires Scalable Init Support (don't forget to enable it).
It now also checks the right controller for input if left-handed mode is enabled.

It suddenly stopped working out of the blue. Also it's not well met for us Leftys, as every time I drop a mag my light toggles.

Currently any addon stops working after the intro chapter as far as I know. Workaround is starting the game from chapter 2.

Worked great until the subway level. There it suddenly stopped working. Now at the Northern Star Hotel it´s still not working.
