Robotic Civilization + Silfae's Animated Synthetic Portraits

Let me start with: I love this mod! It fills a void that I don't understand why the game left out. A few others have done similar things but this is very balanced.

I've got a suggestion if you have time/patience for it: One thing that I have noticed that's lacking is a Tradition Tree. Since the mod changes the Robotic type, some of the base traditions don't flip as they should (like lifespan vs. reduced chance of breakdown), and a dedicated tree (such as the one for Synthetics, which isn't compatible) just isn't there. This would really round out this fantastic mod. Finally, adding a few more Trait Points would be very nice, either back to the AP's or via a tradition tree!

Thanks for all the work on this, it's a must-have mod for me!

good job bro.

Stellaris has gone through a big change in 3.0-3.4

Origins, Civics and Ascension perks before 3.0 are no longer working in the current version due the trigger systems have also changed and the dev's helping to improve modding capabilities nu adding better modding code lines

This is a great mod and one that I wish to play with again if it updates

until then take care @Omnishambles
SalmonToastie 7 Nov, 2021 @ 12:34am
And what kind of tech modifier are we talking?
SalmonToastie 7 Nov, 2021 @ 12:09am
Just getting into modding, how do i remove certain types of robot portraits from this mod? If i go through the species class it also removes the synthetic dawn portraits
Beast-Storm 18 Jul, 2021 @ 4:45pm
Can you make a updated version of Human Revolution mod???

Its been out of date for some time now and I really enjoy the Cyberpunk aesthetics of their clothing's and outfits
Omnishambles  [author] 1 Jul, 2021 @ 11:09am
Also there a few other ways I could have gone about making this mod which would probably have been better, but it's my first mod and it does the job without having to rewrite it all lol
Omnishambles  [author] 1 Jul, 2021 @ 11:08am
@Weg438 Sorry for the slow reply, but do the mods change technology at all? As the ascension perks have tech requirements and bio-assimilation is also unavailable for fanatic purifiers
Weg438 5 Jun, 2021 @ 7:54pm
Had to use commands to get both bio-assimilation and enhanced robotics. Have several other mods but other than gigastructures none of them even touch assimilation or ascension perks. So, no idea what the issue is. Love the mod, though I do wish it wasn't an origin kinda thing. Is there anyway you could untie the "Machines" as a species / portrait from "Hive Mind"? I don't know much about modding in Stellaris either way, so thanks a bunch
Omnishambles  [author] 16 Mar, 2021 @ 5:35am
@Palynium I'll look into doing that after the next update, there are couple of other small changes I want to make but the next update will change quite a lot it seems.
Palynium 12 Mar, 2021 @ 11:08pm
@Omnishambles I mean a version that dds them to their own category rather than edits the vanillia ones, it only needs the robot/synthetic tags on them rather than to be forced into the vanilla categories to work as intended.
Omnishambles  [author] 6 Mar, 2021 @ 1:03pm
@Palynium There's a link to the mod without the portraits in the description, unless you mean standalone portraits, which aren't my work.
Palynium 5 Mar, 2021 @ 6:56pm
Any chance of a standalone version for compat?
Flagellum Dei 2 Dec, 2020 @ 7:47pm
Furthermore, I remember some of the other mods by Silfae, such as the hidden eye, had some unique portrait sets as well, that I think you should bring over.
Flagellum Dei 2 Dec, 2020 @ 7:44pm
Could you add support for these portrait sets?

@gavinfoxx Drones are part of machine empires, so no. This mod makes normal empires with a robotic population, similar to synthetic ascension.
gavinfoxx 20 Nov, 2020 @ 10:45am
Does this unlock access to Artisan drones and civilian industry?
Omnishambles  [author] 17 Nov, 2020 @ 9:19am
No plans to add anything to this mod at the moment, possibly in the future
gavinfoxx 16 Nov, 2020 @ 4:23pm
Also, will you be adding the benefits of the 'Reborn' version of this Silfae mod? Argh, what I really want is a species/origin combo that has sapient, individual robots, sapient, individual biologicals, and a multi-point ascension path that modestly genetically/cybernetically enhances the biologicals, and modestly improves the frames of the bots, and the whole thing can have a void dweller or starborn start, bleh.
gavinfoxx 16 Nov, 2020 @ 7:21am
Is it possible to have a 'biologicalist' version of this that has some organic pops? Either subservient, or equal, or enslaved, or pre-sapient, or maybe an option for each? I'm trying to put together a Culture modset, and it looks like this mod is ideal, thanks!
Omnishambles  [author] 15 Nov, 2020 @ 1:07pm
@Lesovikk Yeah I overlooked that, sorted it out now.
Flagellum Dei 15 Nov, 2020 @ 12:21pm
Necroids added a robot portrait of their own, and I do not see it, despite having the DLC. Is it possible this mod is to blame?
NovaPolaris 12 Sep, 2020 @ 4:20pm
Ah, thank you! I meant the individual machines that your mod makes possible. And that information helps! I'll try it out and see how well it works for me.
Omnishambles  [author] 12 Sep, 2020 @ 1:07am
Oh and I recommend moving pops from your main planet to new planets and getting that robot factory up ASAP, that's how I played this mod.
Omnishambles  [author] 12 Sep, 2020 @ 1:05am
@Nova Every planet should have a roboticist job by default, which won't be as fast as an organic empire at first, but after you build a robot factory and start getting ascension perks you'll be pumping robots out. Or do you mean gestalt machines? This mod shouldn't really change anything with them.
NovaPolaris 11 Sep, 2020 @ 10:04pm
I do really love the mod, though. Thank you very, very much for making this, and keeping it fairly up to date! Nobody else seems to be willing to make (or update) mods to make an individual machine race work, that also seems to be fairly balanced.
NovaPolaris 11 Sep, 2020 @ 10:03pm
Got an odd issue when first trying the mod out. (I'm not using any other mods that could affect it, I think.) Started the game with an individual machine empire and was in stagnation from the start, as population was taking forever to build, and so I couldn't even get enough pops on new planets to build robot factories to try to make new pops. Not sure if that's by design, a bug, or a balance issue.
Blinking Ice 25 Aug, 2020 @ 9:07pm
Is there going to be a portrait only version:steamhappy:
Djohaal 5 Aug, 2020 @ 3:52pm
I also encountered the same issue with a very large portion of the AI empires having the machine origin and almost everyone having the machine trait. Not sure if its an issue just with this mod or an emerging interaction with other mods though.
Razkil 15 Jun, 2020 @ 10:22am
@Omnishambles I have seen it happen as well, random organic empire with "Robotic" origin, but organic traits and species. It only happens sometimes for me, but enough that it seems a bit odd.
Singularity Mechanics 12 Jun, 2020 @ 6:32pm
If there's any files or pictures you'd like I'm happy to provide them. I have no other Origin mods, and disabled any other mods dealing with robots. I tried it a few times, same result (using console to cycle through empires). I did find a few generated normally, both with and without the proper configuration, but always at least 1 - 2 organic empires with Robotic trait and Robotic Civilization Origin. Let me know what I can do, feel free to message me directly if you like. Thanks!
Omnishambles  [author] 12 Jun, 2020 @ 1:24am
@Singularity Mechanics
I've never had that problem and nobody else has mentioned it, if anything I thought they were too rare. No idea what could be causing that to happen.
Singularity Mechanics 11 Jun, 2020 @ 9:16pm
Hi there, love the idea of this mod! I have noticed something strange though, the alien civilizations I am encountering (spacefaring) all have the Robotic trait, but they have other organic traits and pictures, and all have the Robotic Civilization origin. Is there a way to restrict this to the player only, or at least make them actually follow the same rules? Thanks!
Razkil 5 Jun, 2020 @ 8:09am
Love this, simple and and straight to what i want. Only thing i could wish for, would be for a version that allow any origin, so i could use the ones from other mods.
Omnishambles  [author] 12 May, 2020 @ 2:06am
@kenmayer100 to do that you would have to follow the instructions at the bottom of this page, but then add the gfx files from the other mod to this one, and then add the portrait names to the portrait list in robot_civ_species_classes (that mod will have it's own species_classes file with the list). It would probably make more sense to do this on the standard version of the mod, rather than this one though because at the moment scrollbars don't work for portraits, so you can only display 18 in the menu. That mod is still alive though so I'm not going to upload their portraits as part of this.
kenmayer100 11 May, 2020 @ 8:13pm
Is there any way you could add the "Remastered Human Portraits Expanded" portraits to the robotic species appearances? I imagine my synthetic ascended humans choosing to maintain their original outward appearance when in physical form, and this particular portrait mod's cyborgs have some artificial characteristics so I think it would still be a fit for your mod. I briefly attempted to do it myself in the mod files but it was beyond my level of experience, which is zero lol. If not I understand, but I figured it would be worth the ask. Thank you and good job on this mod.
Omnishambles  [author] 5 May, 2020 @ 11:50pm
@labgnome that's how it's intended to be. Select a machine portrait if you want to play as a machine and a robot portrait if you want to play as a robot...
labgnome 5 May, 2020 @ 3:30pm
The robot portraits cannot select machine intelligence.
Umbra Krauss 5 May, 2020 @ 3:42am
Yep, i did everything.
Omnishambles  [author] 5 May, 2020 @ 3:24am
did you clear your mod folders in documents?
Umbra Krauss 5 May, 2020 @ 1:53am
Too bad.
Fresh install, no other mods than yours, but still no luck :(
Umbra Krauss 4 May, 2020 @ 1:37pm
i hope that it will with a fresh install. :)
Omnishambles  [author] 4 May, 2020 @ 1:36pm
@Umbra Krauss lol unlucky, I hope it starts working for you
Umbra Krauss 4 May, 2020 @ 1:35pm
Maybe that's because my game is all messed up. Now, when i quit it, steam says i'm still ingame and doesn't allow me to stop it, for some reason.
I'll just reinstall it ^^"
Umbra Krauss 4 May, 2020 @ 1:24pm
But no idea what they are
Umbra Krauss 4 May, 2020 @ 1:23pm
Well, i have lots
Omnishambles  [author] 4 May, 2020 @ 1:22pm
Well I have no idea then, all's good on this end. Have anything in your documents/paradox interactive/stellaris/mod folder? Things in there can conflict without being active. (that's why I couldn't run the workshop version)
Umbra Krauss 4 May, 2020 @ 1:17pm
Oh, and i precise that i have all the required DLCs
Umbra Krauss 4 May, 2020 @ 1:16pm
Welp, sorry but, even by deactivating all the mods but yours, it still doesn't works :(
