How did you get this mod to work? Please tell me. I am desperately trying to make my own static portrait mod, but nobody seems to want to help me and all of my images show up in-game as invisible and idk what to do anymore. How did you get the images in this mod to actually show up in-game and be functional? Can you please help me with mine?

wouldnt it be easier to just rework this one than making a new one?
BrokenMidnight 7. dec. 2020 kl. 14:43
I got the new animated mod working on my game if that helps
Blackhole32  [ophavsmand] 7. dec. 2020 kl. 14:34
@ghosterino It's okay! Your comment made me realize that moving on was a better option. I'm still a newbie at mod-making anyway so critics are always welcome.
ghosterino 5. dec. 2020 kl. 11:08
Sorry, have been too harsh yesterday
Blackhole32  [ophavsmand] 4. dec. 2020 kl. 19:11
I reuploaded this mod as a new mod. It failed. The contents were downloaded and the ugc.mod was generated, but the mod doesn't work. The local files that I used to upload are still working fine though. Once those files worked, I'll make this mod page obsolete and revert it back to its static version.
BrokenMidnight 4. dec. 2020 kl. 16:15
I don't have the portraits anymore XD Sad face but its okay. Just gonna wait till they're functional.
ghosterino 4. dec. 2020 kl. 15:11
when you make such big changes - and you are not sure if it works - you can just remove the old working version ffs
Kyris 4. dec. 2020 kl. 11:11
Looking forward to when this is updated, love Avali ^^

Alright, by now, if your game launcher says that the mod still requires 2.2 version of the game and portraits themselves are missing from phenotype list, it is most likely that ".mod" file in your "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod" folder is missing, goes under wrong name or was not updated.

We are trying to solve this problem.
For now, if you experience any of mentioned issues, try downloading corrected "ugc_1699178843.mod" file:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2pawkvhlw1nue3y/ugc_1699178843.zip?dl=1

Just drop the file into your "Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod" folder. Make sure to unzip the file.

You may old version of the file named "1699178843.mod" IF it still persists there, But don't forget to make a backup copy - just in case Paradox launcher starts working properly.

Thank you TOGII*, I that means something was broken on my side then. I'll look into the errors you mentioned too.
TOG II* 4. dec. 2020 kl. 1:03
The mod appears to work just fine for me. Avali phenotype is present, with the portraits being completely functional.

The only errors I get are as follows:
[portraitobject.cpp:493]: Failed to find portrait selector Avali_Neutral_1_1_1_1
[portraitobject.cpp:493]: Failed to find portrait selector Avali_Neutral_4_9_9_9
Blackhole32  [ophavsmand] 3. dec. 2020 kl. 22:40
Alright... something's broken and I still have no idea what's broken. Currently, the Avali was gone from phenotype. I'll try to make it work.
Blackhole32  [ophavsmand] 3. dec. 2020 kl. 21:37
Don't mind the thumbnail, I will find a time to fix that. For now, enjoy Logan 'Grey' Fox 's edit!
BrokenMidnight 1. dec. 2020 kl. 14:18
@Blackhole32 Thats fine. Just wanted to know , thank you.
Blackhole32  [ophavsmand] 1. dec. 2020 kl. 3:54
@BrokenMidnight It'll be uploaded here in a few days after we sorted things out and clear our schedules.
BrokenMidnight 30. nov. 2020 kl. 18:53
So will the animated version be uploaded to steam workshop? Im skeptical to drop files into Stellaris mod folder. Not as easy as Skyrim is
Latio 30. nov. 2020 kl. 11:13
Thank you so much :D
Blackhole32  [ophavsmand] 29. nov. 2020 kl. 21:45
Hello, This is Blackhole32. I (metaphorically) died with life a bit and I am very surprised this mod was still active while I'm gone. Especially someone who can animate a Stellaris portrait picked it up and animated it! I feel like crying...

Logan 'Grey" Fox, I will support and give you permission in this mod. I've broken my promise twice already and I will continue what I started. Thanks for reigniting my will to improve this mod!
Latio 28. nov. 2020 kl. 19:43
@Blackhole32
pls give Logan your permission :o
Logan 'Grey' Fox  [ophavsmand] 28. nov. 2020 kl. 4:19
@kgptzac Hi.
In theory, I could upload it if Blackhole32 gave permission to do so (since I had to cut their textures in order to make animations working).
kgptzac 26. nov. 2020 kl. 22:35
@Logan 'Grey' Fox Hi. Thanks for updating this mod. can you please upload it as a workshop mod for easier update and use? thanks!
Kyris 12. nov. 2020 kl. 14:17
Would be nice if this got update, really been into playing as Avali lately ^^
Logan 'Grey' Fox  [ophavsmand] 9. nov. 2020 kl. 17:37
Hey!
A little update on animated portraits:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2o0os2wo56qcyzc/avali_animated_portraits_v0_5.zip?dl=1
Should work with 2.7 and 2.8.

- Fixed animations of right upper ear - should bend smoother now.
- Added missing colors in addition to Red, Green & Blue (except for albino variations - there were issues with texture cutting-restoration).
- Made Leader clothes a bit more distinguishable. Same for jobs/strata (they could use some unique lore-friendly design, but I'm not an artist).
- Default Robot portrait was set to "avian type" (Avali could use their own as well).
- Male and Female colors were assigned according to lore: "Females tend to have muted, two-tone feathers, often with speckled patterns, while males have brightly coloured, iridescent bands..."
- Haircuts of military leaders were restricted to "short" ones, like in "humanoid" portraits.

Colors and Haircuts restrictions are soft-locked; one may unlock them by removing (#) comment marks in config files.

Shame this mod seems to be dead, the art is super good and it'd be neat to play properly
However it seems to have incompatibility stuff with some of my mods
SVIN SPERMA 21. okt. 2020 kl. 1:50
Can Al use this portraits in random empires?
DatDude343 8. okt. 2020 kl. 15:03
well, this things adorable. neat
Aranethon 9. juli 2020 kl. 10:46
If I recall correctly, their files only included the red, green, and blue colours. You would have to create the other colors yourself, or wait for someone else to do it.
Fenryka Valkyr 17. juni 2020 kl. 5:56
This one is compatible with 2.7?
Logan 'Grey' Fox  [ophavsmand] 9. juni 2020 kl. 19:11
Thanks! But it is still pretty much incomplete.
Current "demo" features only 3 color variations and 3 haircuts (+ "no hair"). This is because I had to cut original textures in fragments, as well as "restore" hidden parts of ears and haircuts from static textures. Since I'm not very skilled in drawing and didn't have original layers/parts, I would leave this to you, guys.
Same for clothes. Ruler, Governor and Scientist clothes are ok (IMHO), but General and Admirals would look better with armor (according to lore).
And yes, clothes types do match professions.
Also I didn't make eyeball animations, as there was no eyeball ("round") texture with iris within original mod.
If you want to modify this by yourself, I put Maya source files next to the mod.

= =Major Bug= =
Right ears flicker. I never found what's wrong with them or what might cause the issue. If you could post it to the forum or know someone, who might help with this, that would be great.
(on ver2.2)
Aranethon 9. juni 2020 kl. 18:59
@Logan 'Grey' Fox

I just had a look at your adjustments, and let me tell you that I have tried so hard so many times to do what you've done here. It is excellent work, and really hope it can get rolled into this mod, or if permission can be granted, moved into a new mod to be more actively managed. Great job!
Logan 'Grey' Fox  [ophavsmand] 9. juni 2020 kl. 16:29
Hello, Blackhole32!
Did you or Aranethon have any progress in animating? I could help you with this, I think.

I managed to adapt some Stellaris animations for Avali, modify and export them back to the game. I used your mod as basis. Here is the result:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/cnqz4tv4rvm5qdz/Animated_Avali_Portraits_RGB_DEMO.zip?dl=1

I did my best to make Avali animations not only Stellaris-like, but also as lore friendly, as I could:
- rabbit-like ears (meaning they don't bounce much, as I get it);
- independently moving ears;
- stiff counterbalancing tail (don't bounce much as well).

I also made standard portrait customization (in empire creation menu) instead of plain 100+ phenotypes. It is possible to choose feather color, hair and clothes independently. Well, almost: hair color will always match feather color. :)
MozarteanChaos 3. juni 2020 kl. 14:21
birds are technically reptilian with feathers
Solar 2. juni 2020 kl. 22:45
they are technically reptilian but with feathers. they should be reptilian tbh
aaronfranke 29. maj 2020 kl. 12:39
Why not put them under the Avian category?
Mr TeaPot 24. maj 2020 kl. 13:24
update?
Aranethon 19. maj 2020 kl. 13:42
I've been trying to work on it, but my artistic skills aren't good enough. I can't bring anything more to the table than what is already here...
IsDullahanVVV 19. maj 2020 kl. 4:28
Is this mod still being worked on, or?
Epto 18. maj 2020 kl. 23:48
I wonder how many people actually know where they are originally from
TruBlu 24. apr. 2020 kl. 18:21
better than the 50 other anime portrait mods ive seen so far
Ramble the Wolf 17. apr. 2020 kl. 9:47
Hello! I have a 2.6.* updated version of your mod that I can give you to put here for now, while you work on a new version.
Latio 12. apr. 2020 kl. 4:04
:D thank you so much :D
Blackhole32  [ophavsmand] 31. mar. 2020 kl. 0:40
I just bought the Fed (+Lithroid) and currently doing a playthrough (or some) thanks to the quarantine. I have a little time now but the work was somehow more intense... Anyway, once I'm done and have enough time, I will finally get my lazy bum onto the work.
_sicero 30. mar. 2020 kl. 15:09
It somehow changes the checksum, ´cause it´s a new Phenotype (Humanoid, Mammalian,...)
Di_Kais 1. mar. 2020 kl. 12:51
@Blackhole32 Will the mod be improved for the Federation? I really like this mod. Avali Kawai!!
Blackhole32  [ophavsmand] 27. feb. 2020 kl. 3:31
@Aranethong Sorry for late reply, that's new to me on how blender could export with the plugin. If that's how it is, I should be able to try animating, a new hope for me. That is, after I cleared something (many, many things that clung onto me irl)... so please don't expect much. However, I promised myself to not abandon this again and I hope I can stay that way.
Aranethon 25. feb. 2020 kl. 20:39
I haven't seen any, myself.
MozarteanChaos 25. feb. 2020 kl. 20:20
are there any mods that add name lists for the avali other than ASAE?
