@DSiren
Having multiple construction ship types like that is not feasible
DSiren 8. okt. 2023 kl. 3.35
Gigastructures adds 10 minutes to my load time, and GBRWY more than half of the appeal of gigastructures to me is the onion ringworlds.

I'd probably be more interested if there was an even remotely friendly megastructures UI for building, but there isn't so rip.

(if you're on the gigastructures team can you like pitch the idea of requiring special construction ships for different tiers of the structures? Like kilo-construction ship, mega construction ship, giga construction ship, and wonder construction ship??? Because dividing the list into 4 categories is the bare minimum if you can't get it to display alphabetically like should be fucking base-game.)

ok ty i will try it it says there are more comments but there are none there for me.
Elowiny  [skaper] 26. mai 2020 kl. 1.22
@Derengeoff
...why would there be? You can just use gigastructures and disable everything but ringworlds
Deren 25. mai 2020 kl. 13.02
is there going to be a update for this?
Rocoloco 16. apr. 2020 kl. 3.47
What are the prereqs for Titanic ringworlds btw?
Elowiny  [skaper] 11. jan. 2019 kl. 1.24
@walker
Yes, you have to start a new game with Gigastructures.
Walker 10. jan. 2019 kl. 22.01
how do you find the megastructure menu in order to disable. Do I have to start a new game?
Elowiny  [skaper] 29. des. 2018 kl. 8.55
@Ainz Ooal Gown
With Gigastructural Engineering & More's megastructure menu, this mod isn't really needed anymore. You can just disable all the other megastructures from that mod and only get the ringworlds.
Ainz Ooal Gown 29. des. 2018 kl. 5.37
please update to 2.2.3 master
ComradeChairmanKGB 10. des. 2018 kl. 9.57
Hey any chance of the triple and qaudruple starts making it in with a 2.2 update?
Roger 9. des. 2018 kl. 13.53
hope to see this come back to 2.2 soon :)
TwoBitSprite 17. okt. 2018 kl. 22.30
is it possible to make a starting system with two ringworlds at the start?
E X O D U S 12. sep. 2018 kl. 6.46
Yo dawg i heard you like ringwords, so i put a ringword in a ring world in a ring world in a ring world
Words and Philosophy 23. aug. 2018 kl. 11.04
damn, I'm sad that the engine doesn't support 3D or animated systems. a couple of concentric ringworlds revolving around eachother Event Horizon style would look fucking sick.
Elowiny  [skaper] 12. aug. 2018 kl. 0.30
@phantom_prime It works just fine, I just need to update the version number.
phantom_prime 11. aug. 2018 kl. 12.14
its not compatable with 2.1.2
Elowiny  [skaper] 8. aug. 2018 kl. 0.48
@Pimp Chocolate Sadly I can't do much with so little information. Do you use other mods that mess with system scale? Can you send pictures?
JammyOldChap 7. aug. 2018 kl. 14.31
i think this needs an update. the ringworlds come out glitched. like they're too big.
Caveman 6. aug. 2018 kl. 21.05
Also for the tilt, the other rings would still probably receive light, just based on personal experience on seeing a solar eclipse, even when the moon was blocking a majority of the sun, the sun light was basically no different than the normal light we received until about 90% of the sun was covered. And thats just the distance between the moon and the Earth, not even the much vaster distance in between these ringworlds, so can be assumed that even with these ringworlds in line with the sun, the other rings should still be able to get light with no issue. After all, Stellaris is quite clearly not to scale.
kuba_mar 26. juli 2018 kl. 8.54
When you need to build soo tall that you cant see where you started anymore.
Elowiny  [skaper] 10. juli 2018 kl. 0.23
@Naraya__42 Ahem, Gigastructures is my own mod, so I think I know what I'm doing. And yes, a planet must be in-plane with the star. There's no way to tilt the rings.
Naraya__42 9. juli 2018 kl. 21.44
2/2 TILTING THE RINGS????

contains habbital planets for up to 200 pops... perhaps there is a way to revamp your extra ringworlds into a dysonsphere like object that doenst produce power but holds pops. with the looks of the ringworlds. as to create a "multiringworld" megastructure with the dysonsphere backbone. or whatever they used to make it work... Im not sure maybe take a look at it although I fear that by "2d plane" you where refering to the planet locations. to which a planet lifted above the system could not ectually exist because a planet must be in-plane with the star....
Naraya__42 9. juli 2018 kl. 21.44
1/2 TILTING THE RINGS????

I would highly recomend looking into the Gigastructures and engineering mod. They have implimented many new mega structures.

specifically i reccomend you look at the matreosk brain. IDK how they did it but its a sperical Mega structure... Perhaps its possibel to impliment what they did to find a way to tilt the rings. Although they also could have just used a modified version of a dyson spere. my only issue with this is that the final stage of the matreoske brain is the reality simulator. which both is rotated and
Douglas MacArthur 8. juli 2018 kl. 2.50
@Elowiny Oh okay i didnt realise the scale ingame was not representative to the actual size of the rings, my bad.
Elowiny  [skaper] 8. juli 2018 kl. 2.47
@Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Well, someone calculated it wasn't the case using some weird maths. Here's a link to it if you're interested. https://www.reddit.com/r/Stellaris/comments/8v1kfo/not_enough_space_in_a_ringworld_system_just_add/e1k24mj/
Douglas MacArthur 8. juli 2018 kl. 2.42
@Elowiny Well they look like they are the same thickness and if you view the ensemble of structures from the side, they are on the same x-y-plane behind eachother. Only the first ring will receive direct sunlight unless they are tilted into the z plane.

But jugdning by your reaction you have recieved this piece of criticism before, i dont want to be annoying it was just a thought. Gameplay-wise its a nice mod for late game one system challenges or for games with a small number of habitable worlds. Nice work!
Elowiny  [skaper] 8. juli 2018 kl. 2.28
@Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba It is not possible to tilt the rings. And for the millionth time, no, the rings don't block each other's sunlight, as they are small compared to the star itself.
Douglas MacArthur 8. juli 2018 kl. 2.19
the outer rings are in the shadow of the inner. They require solar energy for warmth and energy, they need to be put at an angle like a dyson sphere of rings
Useless 6. juli 2018 kl. 14.56
how would win a fallen empire or one autist with a ringy boi

Shoarmadad 6. juli 2018 kl. 8.25
Oh shit, that's a lot.
Elowiny  [skaper] 6. juli 2018 kl. 6.41
@Stille Willem 28 if unupgraded, and 56 if upgraded.
Shoarmadad 6. juli 2018 kl. 5.47
How many living areas does a quadruple ringworld have?
ShadowDragon_79 6. juli 2018 kl. 5.20
Also, it's a question how such a warp-drive would influence nearby planets & starsystems, since it works via warping spacetime, meaning gravity...
ShadowDragon_79 6. juli 2018 kl. 5.18
@Elowiny:

Thanks for the reply :2018salienpsychic: .

@juha39:

What you described as FTL would basically be a warp-drive ( a while ago ST changed this, but that was the old concept ) , and - just like wormholes - it isn't exactly "impossible by what we currently know", it's just that you'd need negative energy or mass for it ( no, antimatter doesn't do it, or there would be no explosion when it contacts normal matter ) ...

I heard about some people trying to use the Casimir-effect for this ( the one with two plates close to each other ) , but am rather sceptical if that could work - after all, the plates themselves are positive energy ( according to Einstein ) , and in reality aren't even really plates, since they're built of atoms, too.

... and yes, there certainly are stranger concepts then FTL or ringworlds :2018salienpsychic: .

@FasterMaster1012 I'm sorry, but I'm the one doing the purging here. https://i.redd.it/rbk9zw4zlti01.gif
FasterMaster1012 5. juli 2018 kl. 13.04
What heresy is this....you sir must be purged
Elowiny  [skaper] 5. juli 2018 kl. 11.59
@Sajico (That has to be the tenth time I say this) Not, that's not true. The inner ringworlds do not block off the light completely, as some people already calculated.
Sajico 5. juli 2018 kl. 11.42
purely logically, this is something to build dusk because the light arrives only to the first ring world and the light will never reach the others
EdgeNinja4hire 5. juli 2018 kl. 7.42
Anyone Know if this will work with Utopia Expanded?
Elowiny  [skaper] 5. juli 2018 kl. 3.53
@ShadowDragon_79 If you get both this and gigastructures, you'll just get the starting systems in addition. I just made this a standalone in case people wanted multiple ringworlds without all the other megas included in Gigastructures.
ShadowDragon_79 5. juli 2018 kl. 3.41
Is it a good idea to install this AND its basic version linked above?

What is added and/or disabled if one does so?
Potato Soup 5. juli 2018 kl. 0.51
It would be cool if all the rings could be connected with each other. It can be a mega ring world.
Alchimous 4. juli 2018 kl. 22.20
@Elowiny It's in the outer ring, in the non-upgraded double ring system.Certainly isn't game breaking, just allows an extra world to be in the same space.
I Darkstar X 4. juli 2018 kl. 18.57
"Why have ONE ringworld when you can have ALL the ringworlds!?"
Shades 4. juli 2018 kl. 16.54
@Total_Europium Cartoonish logic is very well said. We dont know it is, so it still might be.
And some of the real hypothesis are even stranger than any game, like, we might have areas in our own universe where the balance of laws of physics is different, like, in different countries with different laws.... and if our galaxy is situated in a sort of higher energy state of stability, it might be nudged out of that stability, releasing huge energies that would push more and more reality into new alignment, basically exploding large parts of the universe, or all of it.
Or graviton particles or time being less like a film and more like sliced bread with raisins.
I think scifi in games is tame and safe compared to some of the real possibilities of quantum physics there might be. And now they are talking about "quantum biology"... Its just mindblowing.
Castorice 4. juli 2018 kl. 13.55
@juha39
I mean yeah saying it is immpossible is more of an overstatement and Tbh I REALLY hope it will be possible. I dont think anyone wants it to be impossible but, anyway yeah I know that the concept of this is almost cartoonish in logic, but still its concept is what intrigues people. I mean I play a game where there is a pocket dimension where the laws of physics don't apply but thats what intrugues me. Its intricite creativity, I find, to be entertaining, albeit outrageous in context.
Elowiny  [skaper] 4. juli 2018 kl. 12.48
@Alchimous That sounds bad. I'll try to fix that tomorrow. Are the stacked segments on the first or second ring?
Alchimous 4. juli 2018 kl. 12.10
So, I noticed on the double ringworld home system that one of the habitable segments on the outer ring is actual two stacked worlds, so that there are 11... and also that the home world is not size 25.
