"This does fix overwatch shot enemies benefiting from cover right", no it doesnt,
cause if you/enemy will move more than one tile, it still get triggered on the first tile, a workaround is included in the "eu aim mod" config or "Realistic Aiming Angles - Highlander Compatible", there is an ignore cover option for overwatch, but custom abilities have to be added there aswell.
If you run along cover, cover will be still ignored, so thats the downside

This does fix overwatch shot enemies benefiting from cover right.

Either this doesn't work, or the overwatch rules that govern this are wonky. It's incredibly inconsistent. I've had andromedons literally waltz right past my overwatching soldiers, go around them and duck into cover without the soldier firing.

Do I need to add +OVERWATCH_TO_PATCH=LongWatchShot to XComGame.ini as well?
tac 10 Apr, 2024 @ 4:13pm
Add
+OVERWATCH_TO_PATCH=PistolReturnFire
to the config list in XComGame.ini.
Reason for it is because, with this mod, pistol overwatch uses return fire (even if the soldier doesn't have the ability which is weird by itself) to fire at units that move. As a result, it creates a visualization that is wack and weird and it bothered me lol.

Does this mod still work? I noticed my soldiers dont shoot at enemies even if they enter my soldier's line of vision.

@Bottomscorer, one comment should be sufficient! Not going on many mods and copy pasting that :^)

This doesn’t seem to work anymore, sadly. Might be a conflict with another mod, as I am using a lot of mods.

I moved my soldier from behind cover to two or three tiles to the right, and she was still behind cover. However, the enemy’s Overwatch still triggered, even though Gotcha Again didn’t say it would.

Here’s my mod list: https://pastebin.com/raw/uLCKmgkp

One Steam tag should be sufficient!

War of the Chosen

NOT war of the chosen!
NOT WotC!

is it possible to have the changes apply to overwatch but not Suppression?
Boge 8 Jul, 2021 @ 5:58pm
Is this compatible with [WOTC] Tactical Options and it's "Smart Overwatch"?

Is this safe to remove mid campaign? I've been having an issue with reinforcements & I'm trying to figure out which mod is causing it.
scottsnewskirt 31 May, 2020 @ 7:27am
thank you for this mod

How would this mod and Reaction Fire Suppression work? They both touch suppression and the effect it has on units.
Lord Neccy 5 Oct, 2019 @ 10:41pm
So a funny problem with this mod, or maybe I just have incredible shit luck and my game is completely broken, but if enemy units make a move from one piece of cover to another taking them out into the open through clear LoS, my units just don't shoot at them even if they are overwatching
Infinite Monkeys 5 Aug, 2019 @ 9:41am
I've played this game for 1800 hours and am just now finding out that the overwatch rules are broken? I thought I just had insane bad luck. Had almost quit overwatching as a tactic entirely. Sweet Jesus and his posse of T-posers. This explains so much. Thank you for this mod.
Juravis 13 Sep, 2017 @ 8:37pm
@Charmed Small detail, I made a one click movement tile move + melee attack with the ranger and it counted, the unit overwatched. I dont know if you can fix that at all, but it would be nice instead of doing both moves separately (which properly doesnt overwatch).
wolff_laarcen 7 Sep, 2017 @ 11:22am
I've been seeing freezes during Threat Assessment OW shots that do not occur with the mod disabled. Maybe something to look into?
Juravis 4 Sep, 2017 @ 1:08am
I havent checked the WOTC code to check if Suppression was patched, my guess is it wasnt so you are probably correct.
Charmed  [author] 4 Sep, 2017 @ 12:46am
@ADVENT Avenger that's just an error in my description, and unless I'm mistaken a problem with Jake's WOTC code (if it's a problem at all), not this mod's? However, I haven't tested suppression.
Juravis 3 Sep, 2017 @ 11:17pm
Allowing moving from suppression to out of LOS and not firing Suppression could cause problems such as the target still being debuffed by the aim penalty
Charmed  [author] 3 Sep, 2017 @ 9:21pm
@-bg- got it
-bg- 3 Sep, 2017 @ 9:07pm
btw, i made a mistake on the code and might break killzone's covering fire, instead of clearing its trigger and adding new one, replace just the index[0] of the trigger, or if you want to foolproof, you can iterate through all the triggers and look for the movement observer and replace just that index.
Charmed  [author] 3 Sep, 2017 @ 8:55pm
@-bg- thanks, much more sensible than what I was trying when I used dlcinfo. Helped with the next mod too which I was also going to use defaultabilityset.

put it inside the X2DownloadableContentInfo

then you can add the config to XComGame.ini under the x2downloadablecontentinfo part

+OVERWATCH_TO_PATCH=OverwatchShot
+OVERWATCH_TO_PATCH=SuppressionShot
+OVERWATCH_TO_PATCH=LongWatchShot
+OVERWATCH_TO_PATCH=KillZoneShot
+OVERWATCH_TO_PATCH=PistolOverwatchShot
Charmed  [author] 3 Sep, 2017 @ 7:45pm
@-bg- I'm not sure how to get that working.
-bg- 3 Sep, 2017 @ 7:18pm
why overwrite when you can modify the template in x2DLCInfo
Beagle 3 Sep, 2017 @ 6:53pm
thank you, god
daverino 3 Sep, 2017 @ 6:10pm

Podunk Noname 3 Sep, 2017 @ 5:32pm
I'll try this out. I thought what I was seeing was just buggy . . . but it was an intentional change. Hrmmm. Thanks.
potential energy nonbeliever 3 Sep, 2017 @ 4:34pm
THANK YOU SWEET BABY JESUS.
[WTS]DrewDawgofWar 3 Sep, 2017 @ 4:15pm
Thanks!
NotSoLoneWolf 3 Sep, 2017 @ 3:54pm
Beaglerush is going to be very happy about this. Although, we won't get to see any more 5-minute rants about the overwatch changes :(
CptWholesome 3 Sep, 2017 @ 3:53pm
I had no idea those were even rules to begin with
Rworqx 3 Sep, 2017 @ 3:52pm
Well that explains that... Thanks :excitebox:
