I had a problem where the command prompt would pop up then close immediately when trying to run the installer and I fixed it by downloading the dds plugin even though I've got the most recent version of GIMP

i like this and it works, but unfortunately it doesnt work with anbennar, as that changes the UI

How can I safely uninstall this mod?

I cant find C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\236850\1095412287 directory

I needed to install gimp-dds plugin despite having the latest version of GIMP, but other than that it worked perfectly.

i got the mod to successfully install but it doesnt work whatsoever, tried downpatching as well but dont see 1440p version in modlist :/

Is this not working for anyone else, at all? The cmd prompt opens for a second and then nothing, no matter what I try.

There is a tool called '2to3' which supposedly converts Python2 scripts to Python3; I used this tool, but there are still many problems. As Python2 is deprecated and most modern Linux systems will come with Python3 (and probably don't even have a Python2 option), you might want to remove "Linux" as being compatible with this mod. Anyone running a modern Linux distro will have lots of problems.

I fixed the tab issue, now a whole bunch of other code errors:

Python3 doesn't like your code, python as a language is very sensitive to tabs. Any suggestions here?

I can't stress enough how much it pisses me off to need a mod to run the game decently at the correct resolution

So, scale factor is determined automatically according to the res you choose so it doesn't work. Setting custom res in the code won't work as well. It would be nice to have resolution in between 1440p - 2160p such as 1620p or 1800p but still a godsend mod. Thank you!

Mod works as intended and it is really great but I have a question. Is there a way to get the UI a bit smaller? I am playing at 4K and most of the UI fills the screen. Is there an easy way of doing this from the code like scaling modifier?

Edit: scale_ui.cfg has a "SCALE_FACTOR=2.0" line, is this the one I am looking for?

What height setting to use for a native resolution 2560x1600? Better use 1440 and have the black bars on top and bottom? Or use 1600, will there be distortions with that?

This really needs to be remade into something compiled cos the Python 2 script relies on libraries that I can't download anymore

Having an error on Windows where exr-load.ddl and exr-save.ddl files are not found, which I think is causing the .bat script to stall

This doesn't work, I double checked the bat and it looks correct but running it as admin or not just flashes the cmd window for a split second and that's it.

Ахаха, да уж) Another reason to not update to Windows 11) I really damn hate microsoft for trying to force me to use their trash apps and services.
And files are not pre-made, because even 1 version is weight over gigabyte, all of them would weight probably over 4.
The real question is - why paradox still not upgrade ui in vanilla itself. Seriously, is majority of this game audience still uses monitors that requires such small ui size?

FINALY GET IT WORK!!! the problem was in my Windows 11. By defoult all media files including Documents saves in OneDrive folder wich can not be the path to program language used by author of mod (for me it was C:\Users\BobSa\OneDrive\Документы\Paradox Interactive). Soooo I did copied the whole Paradox folder from there in actual path it meant to be (C:\Users\BobSa\Documents\Paradox Interactive). Copied mod in this new folder and after ~20min I have upscaled files! so happy to beat this problem, hope this can help someone.

your mod is a must for playing eu iv nowadays. Do you have the files for version 1.30.6 lying somewhere? Thats the version I play the most so this would be super awesome. Didn't knew about your mod back then.

it doesn't come installed on gimp, and you *HAVE* to drop that directly into "C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\Programs\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\", NOT the subfolder "file-dds"

For people having trouble getting the mod to work, (mainly the bat file closing instantly), Barra's comment from over a year ago helped me immensely:

Than when the CMD Window is open and you started the process, you will see a line:

Now I had two issues when trying to follow this, first you MUST install GIMP to the USER ONLY, not to everyone on the pc, otherwise the folders will go to 'roaming'.

Secondly, I installed the dds.exe and placed it in the subfolder as suggested by Barra, after that I managed to get it all working.

And thank you mod author, for this is amazing, and works perfectly on my ultrawide 3440x1440 monitor

for anyone who had the same problem as me, it would seem something about this mod is incompatible with the recently released new version of GIMP. i went and installed 2.10.32 instead.

OK it finished, and it seems to work great! This is awesome... of course I am sure there will be some small glitches as the above posts have made but, from the intro screen this is beautiful. Great for 1440p. Thank you so much. I'd tip you but I don't have that kind of currency.

Hi, thanks for the mod. It's still running, and has been for about an hour for me. I don't know if the script is converting more than it was supposed to or what. Also in the Python, you have a commented-out line for checking the DDS plugin that is actually correct for my system, so I had to switch them... mine was in file-dds/ rather than just the dds.exe. I will let you know. (Version 1.35.6)

Is there a way to make this work with extended timeline?

Its up to Paradox. If you want achievements. Do the following...

Note: One negative of mod is no achievements. Achievements can be reenabled by moving the map directory out of the mod directory structure. Of course doing so will break the minimap.
