v18.2 - Minor release

v18.1 - Minor release

  • Added the famous "Burger meal" line for Coach instead of "Swamp" line (limited use)
  • Added additional condition for when survivors will say "We're all here" response by using "I'm here" line - if at least one other survivor is close enough (limited use)
  • Added a workaround for bug in the game where the first line from sequential responses is played twice - used for "Soldiers" NPCs line and Coach's "Burger meal" line (limited use)
  • Rearranged 2 lines for Coach

NOTE: "Burger meal" line is made of 5 different voice lines playing in sequence. It's not one big voice line.

v18.0 - Major release

This release brings plenty of changes to custom talker, so everything listed here affects "limited use" stuff only:

  • L4D2 survivors won't say now any named responses before the elevator introduction in Dead Center: Hotel (C1M1). Nick won't say named responses in the first two chapters of Dead Center, which is now in line with official talker behavior.
  • L4D2 survivors can now use "Mourn" line while looking at nearby L4D1 survivors. Due some technical limitations in the game, it's not possible to mourn dead L4D1 survivors reliably (although support for that is added to the vocalizer).
  • L4D2 survivors can now use "Pounced other" line while looking at L4D1 survivors
  • L4D2 survivors can now say named "Nice shot" line while looking at Francis, Louis and Zoey
  • L4D1 survivors will now use only generic responses for "Heal me" line when they're dying (on third strike)
  • All survivors now have different responses for "Dying" line when they're really dying (on third strike)
  • Improved "Mourn" line to prioritize a survivor you're currently looking at when there's another survivor nearby which is dead
  • Standardized "Displeasure" line rules for L4D2 survivors to be the same as for L4D1 survivors
  • Tweaked distance for "Suggest heal" line to be the same as in official talker
  • Tweaked L4D2 survivors' responses for "Suggest heal" line while they don't know their names yet
  • Added ability to use "Scream" line in Versus while being in smoke to force your character to cough (other game modes already have this)
  • Implemented more accurate detection of survivors and their distances from you (used by lines with named responses)
  • Implemented generic targets for lines which trigger other survivors to respond. This will prevent multiple responses when there are more of the same survivors (for modded servers).
  • When triggered to respond, survivors will do that now only if they're not coughing, not incapacitated, not already speaking something, not talk blocked by the game, and if they're not too far from the triggering survivor
  • Removed unnecessary conditions and forced weights for some rules
  • Minor code refactoring and clean up

  • Coach will now encourage other survivors when near them by using "Dying" line, but only while he's on green health (works even on L4D1 survivors)
  • Coach will now say OCD response only sometimes when using "Chopper" line while looking at Nick
  • Added map-specific response for hidden "Not die" line for Coach when you're in Hard Rain: Sugar Mill (C4M2)
  • Added map-specific responses for "Not die" line for Nick for some chapters of Swamp Fever (C3M2, C3M3), Hard Rain (C4M3, C4M4, C4M5) and The Parish (C5M2, C5M3, C5M4)
  • Added new responses to story reactions from others to Ellis
  • There is now a small chance Ellis will say whirlybird response when using "Chopper" line, which will trigger Nick to react angrily
  • Improved "Gooed" line for Ellis while survivors don't yet know Spitter (first two chapters of Dead Center)
  • Added 1 more response to "Dying" line for Rochelle when she's dying (on third strike)
  • Added 1 more response to "Safe" line for Rochelle
  • There is now chance Rochelle will use generic responses for "Pounced other" line in addition to named responses
  • Added more responses to "Puked" line for Rochelle
  • Rochelle can now say survivor-specific "You're welcome" to Nick and Ellis on every map
  • Added "Not die" line for Rochelle (hidden)
  • Coach, Nick and Rochelle have equal chance now to react to Ellis' stories
  • Nick can now react to Ellis' goat story
  • Simplified code for singing together for Coach and Ellis
  • Louis, Bill and Zoey can now whistle by using "Singing" line (from Ellis)
  • Added a small chance Francis will answer what he hates when Zoey uses her "Snow/cold" line
  • Added a small chance Louis will laugh at his own burping when using his "Belch" line
  • Slightly tweaked "Laugh" and "Taunt" responses for Bill
  • Zoey can now say survivor-specific response with "Nice shot" while looking at Bill

  • L4D2 survivors can now use "Thanks" while looking at L4D1 survivors - usable at The Passing: Port (C6M3) map (limited use)

NOTE: Bill doesn't have any character-specific responses for "Thanks" and "You're welcome".

  • Using official talker now to check if L4D1 survivor is dead (used by "Mourn" line)

NOTE: Game's detection of dead survivor is a bit quirky. If you're near dead survivor's body and "Mourn" line doesn't work, try to position yourself differently (in front of the body).
