v20.1 - Minor release

  • Changed criteria names to lower-case letters to be exactly as they appear in query table. This should fix certain VScript add-ons not working properly when vocalizer is installed.

v20.0 - Major release

This release brings completely new custom talker and other changes to "limited use" lines:

  • Powered by VScript talker
    Custom talker has been rewritten in VScript. This means new features and no conflicts with modified talkers and custom campaigns which have their own talkers (like recently released Cold Front).

  • Reworked NPC voice lines
    Voice lines in NPCs radial menu no longer require orator entities on map to work. Now every survivor can play NPC voice lines on any map.

  • When using "Tank" line, survivors will now say "Two tanks!" when 2 tanks are active (except Nick and Bill who don't have lines for this).
  • All survivors will now use quiet variant of "Back up" voice line when they are near witches.
  • L4D2 survivors will now use quiet variant of "Go" and "Reloading" voice lines when they are near witches.
  • L4D2 survivors won't call witch by name anymore when using "Chasing" line in C1M2 (while they haven't learned her name yet).
  • Using "Coming" line while hurt will now check total health (base health + temporary health) instead of only base health.
  • Special Infected callouts which have "speakonce" option will now work as originally intended by official talker – they will play only once per map.
  • When using "Hurrah" line, L4D1 bots will now again respond with HurrahAlso response.
  • Bots won't nag you for action and suggest healing in safe rooms for 1 minute now.
  • Started using KnowWitch and KnowTank contexts when calling out witch and tank on C1M2 (modified talkers might implement these contexts).
  • "Hear <special>" lines will work properly now on C1M2 when playing Survival.
  • Added all available FriendlyFire sounds to "Friendly fire" line for all survivors.
  • Removed SurvivorLeavingInitialCheckpoint override for L4D1 survivors and Ellis (it can break other talkers' behavior).
  • Removed concept iMT_PlayerEquippedItem.

Coach:
  • "Not die" line will now work the same on both Sugar Mill maps (C4M2 and C4M3).
  • Added quiet variant of "Door" line when used near witches.
  • Added new sounds to "Hear Witch" line when used on C1M2 while Rochelle is nearby.
  • Added unused SpotWeapons08 sound to "Weapons" line.
  • Added witch C1-specific callout.
  • Improved tank C1-specific callout.

Nick:
  • Added unused sound to "Coming" line when used while hurt.
  • Added sound to "Not die" line when used on several "The Parish" maps.
  • Added sound to "Displeasure" line.
  • Changed witch C1-specific callout.
  • Fixed named "Friendly fire", "Suggest health" and "Nice shot" lines on C1M1 and C1M2.
  • Fixed reaction to Ellis stories on C1M2 when playing Survival.

Ellis:
  • Added new reaction if stopped while telling the goat story.
  • Improved "Close one" line when used as only survivor alive.
  • Reaction to Coach breathing won't trigger anymore on C1M1.
  • Removed C1-specific "Thanks" line towards Louis.

Rochelle:
  • Added 2 additional sounds to "Dying" line.
  • Improved tank C1-specific callout.

Francis:
  • "Passing gas" line will work now only when looking at other L4D1 survivors.
  • Added unused sound to "Charger" line as rare response.
  • Changed sound about the snow in "Hate" line.

Louis:
  • Added unused HordeAttack sounds to "Incoming" line as rare responses.

Bill:
  • Fixed named "Friendly fire" line towards Francis.
  • Fixed duplicate sound in "Breathing" line.

Zoey:
  • Added named "Look out" towards L4D2 survivors after rescue vehicle has arrived.
  • Added unused GoingToDie sound to "Dying" line.

NPCs:
  • Removed Chopper pilot intro sounds.

Other changes:
  • Updated addonimage.jpg (visible in game when add-on is manually installed).
  • Updated Workshop thumbnail image to be 1:1 ratio.

  • Ellis will now always respond to his goat story with appropriate reaction, no matter the map. (limited use)
  • L4D2 survivors will now use tank variants of "Friendly fire" and "Reloading" lines as soon as Tank becomes active. (limited use)
  • Minor tweaks to quiet variants of "Back up", "Go" and "Reloading" lines for L4D2 survivors. (limited use)

v19.5 - Minor release

  • Added different responses to "Close one" line for all survivors (except Zoey). Responses will differ when all survivors are alive, when someone has died, and when only one survivor is left alive. (limited use)
  • Added different responses to "Coming" line for L4D2 survivors when they're hurt, that is when their base health is under 40. (limited use)
  • Added quiet variant responses to "Back up" and "Go" lines for L4D2 survivors which are usable only in Witchville part of Hard Rain: Sugar Mill (C4M2) when tank is not present. (limited use)

v19.4 - Minor release

  • Changed vocalize command for "Love you" line in Character-specific 9 radial menu for Ellis. Now it can work on official servers, too (but only in starting areas and safe rooms).
  • Survivors will nervously laugh now when using "Laugh" line while being alone and dying (limited use).
  • Added one more rare, encouraging response to Ellis' stories for Coach, Nick and Rochelle (limited use).

v19.3 - Minor release

Another batch of changes in custom talker affecting only "limited use" stuff:

  • Healing sounds survivors make when they used a medkit or when somebody else healed them (relaxed sighs) will no longer interrupt survivor's ongoing talking (noticable in safe room intros). Unavoidable side effect of this change is that "Sigh" from Miscellaneous 2 radial menu is no longer spammable, meaning it can be used now only when survivor isn't already speaking something.
  • Added a chance for L4D2 survivors to say unused named laughings when using "Laugh" from close: Coach can laugh to Rochelle and Zoey, Ellis can laugh to Coach and Nick, and Nick can laugh to Ellis.
  • L4D2 survivors can now use NPC lines on original L4D1 maps (useful for custom servers with 8 or more survivors). Also, optimized and reorganized everything NPCs related.
  • Improved "Friendly fire" line when tank is present and seen. It will work correctly now for Ellis and Rochelle in the first two maps of Dead Center campaign.
  • Removed support for "Fake Zoey" (it's not needed anymore).

v19.1 - Minor release

This release brings additions to custom talker and some "limited use" lines:

  • Extended "Got it" line to include all kill confirmation responses and changed vocalize command for it. Old command iMT_PlayerEquippedItem is still available for derivative vocalizers if they want to continue using it.
  • L4D2 survivors will have different responses in Dead Center: Hotel (C1M1) for "Got it" line until they automatically comment on killing their first Special Infected.
  • There is a small chance Ellis will claim another survivor's kill (steal kill) when using "Got it" line with any other L4D2 survivor, which will trigger a small "conversation" between them.
  • Added additional responses to "Reloading" line when L4D2 survivors see a tank (with different responses for the 1st and 2nd maps of Dead Center).
  • Added a chance for Francis to say Canadian Hunter response when using "Hunter" line on Crash Course: The Truck Depot (C9M2).
  • Added a chance for Francis to say Canadian Boomer response when using "Hear Boomer" line on Crash Course: The Truck Depot (C9M2).
  • Added "Passing gas" line for Francis with responses to all other L4D1 survivors (hidden).
  • Added "Honeymoon" line for Rochelle (hidden).

v19.0 - Major release

This release brings updates to Ellis stories and his "Story" line (limited use):

  • Added map-specific stories
    First story manually started on map will be that which would normally automatically start in safe room. Next stories will be random. For maps which don't have their stories (e.g. first maps in campaigns and custom maps), stories will be random immediatelly. If map-specific story is started manually in safe room, it won't play again automatically (and vice versa) to avoid repetition.

  • Added map-specific story responses
    Survivors will respond with special responses after some map-specific stories. This will happen only on some maps as it would normally happen after automatic safe room story. After speaking map-specific response, survivors will use generic responses for next stories.

  • Added ability to manually stop Ellis stories
    All survivors (except Ellis) can use "Story" line to stop stories. Works only when Ellis is actually telling a story.

  • L4D1 survivors can now also respond to Ellis stories
    They have a chance to automatically say responses after stories, the can also interrupt stories when they leave safe room, and they can manually stop stories. Usable on The Passing: Port (C6M3) and modded servers with 8 or more players.

  • Ellis won't interrupt his own story anymore by going out of safe room. All other survivors will interrupt his story when leaving safe room as before.
  • Ellis won't say a reaction to his story anymore if he's already speaking something.
  • Improved Ellis' reaction to his goat story. It will happen only in Dead Center: Atrium (C1M4) after first time telling the map-specific story.
  • Ellis can now start a story only when previous story is completely finished or interrupted by others (to prevent story spamming).
  • Implemented workarounds for two stories which happen automatically outside of safe room (to avoid story lock-in).
  • Added one missing story variant as The Passing: Underground (C6M2) map-specific story.
  • Added one more generic response to Ellis stories for Nick.

Other changes to custom talker (limited use):
  • Added "Aboard" line for Francis and Bill (hidden).
  • Added tank-specific responses to "Friendly fire" line for L4D2 survivors when tank is present and seen (including named responses). Survivors can't use these responses in the 1st and 2nd map of Dead Center because they haven't learned about tank there yet.
  • Added quiet variant responses to "Reloading" line for L4D2 survivors which is usable only in Witchville part of Hard Rain: Sugar Mill (C4M2) when tank is not present.
  • Fixed wrong responses for several lines when playing Dead Center: Streets (C1M2) in Survival mode.
  • Increased triggering distance for named "Friendly fire" responses.
