Description
A baisc pack of airport road lights, which use the vanilla light effects. These are so that lights can be placed on airport roads without using the effects mod (coming soon), while using the airport road light remover mod http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=952542692.

Performance:
All assets share the same 64x64 diffuse and specular texture.

Content:
  • Basic Runway Light [50 Tris, 14 Tri LOD] - these are white and have a typical spacing of 60m
  • Basic Taxiway Light [35 Tris, 14 Tri LOD] - these are blue and have a typical spacing of 30m (except at corners and intersections)
  • Basic Taxiway Light Ground [28 Tris, 10 Tri LOD] - these are blue, and are placed in the pavement.
  • Runway Light Ground [28 Tris, 10 Tri LOD] - these are blue and are meant for Runway center lines

The lights should always be placed outside of the active pavement area (I didn't do that for the taxiways in the images attached). If there is a taxiway edge line, they can be placed on the other side of that. The ground level taxiway lights are meant for the crossable taxiway edge lines (double dashed lines), since planes can roll over them.

I recommend using the Prop-Line-Tool mod to place these.

Note: I am aware that the meshes don't look that great, but that was to reduce the tri count. You will most likely be unable to see the actual mesh unless you are in the first person mode.

@Ratchet TV they are steady burn as they should be. It’s essentially a network which periodically places the edge lights which come with the vanilla game (the vanilla light spacing is incorrect as per the ICAO specs)

Ahh those are great! Thanks. I've not experienced any issues so far but if I do I do. I always make backup saves anyway, thanks for taking the time :)

@dominic.sibthorp high system specs won't help prevent crash to desktop every 5 minutes. I am not going to upload them, but here is a link to the .crp files. Just copy them into your C:\users\<username>\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\Assets. If the Assets folder doesn't exist, just create it, and place them in there.
As I said, in a test setup for the asset screenshots, I started continued to experience a crash to desktop within 5 minutes of the level loading, and it's not a RAM issue, since I have a 32/8 configuration. You have been warned:

@vasimr22 Good job on this. Any chance of being sent those green lights, please?? (Don't make me beg it aint a pretty sight lol) I am trying to create an airport and it is really bugging my that my taxiway centre line lights are blue and not green. I appreciate your concerns on stability, but I am happy to take that risk. So far I have 8 230 tile long runways with the associated taxiways all using the blue centre line lights and have had no issues so far.

(But then the specs of my machine are stupidly above what the game demands lol)

Also, I don't think I am meant to posts requests but I will anyway...what are the chance of having a green/yellow surface light as well? For express taxiway exits...

I could..but the airport im re-creating only uses the green lights (ESMS/MMX).
Here's a link if you want to take a look. You will find many of your assets being put to use!:)

Ah cool, looking forward to any of your releases! :)

You could leave out the centerline lights, or use my building ones (they have self-illumination). Not all commercial airports have centerline lights, it's usually only the really large international ones that do.
I have several assets that are work in progress, but I haven't worked on them in a while (I will eventually get back to them). I have a list in my Airport Props collection, as well as a few others, such as a beacon tower, an off-site transmitter/receiver, and about 5 different hangars (various sizes).

Thank you for the response!
Oh I see, that sucks :(
Guess I'll have to use your blue ones for the time being.
Any more of your assets in the making?
Your doing a great job, keep it up! :)

@EnSnellHest Many people have asked for this... I already made them, but decided not to release them (or even use them), because they caused serious stability issues for the game. If you were to put them in an airport, you would have thousands of custom lights sitting in a small area, which either the game, or unity in general, cannot handle. This is not normally a problem with vanilla lights, because they are optimized for bulk, which cannot be done (at least easily), in a mod.

Hey mate, any chance of doing the green taxiway lights? (the ones in the center of the taxiway) :)
