Custom Lightwarps

Description
I was playing around with texturing, when I learned how to make custom Lightwarps work. Here are 22 lightwarps I made while experimenting. These range from slight changes and gradients, to super stylized.

I'm sure someone else can get some use out of these.

Note: Lightwarps require maps to have lighting on them to work. On unlit maps or in unlit regions of maps, they won't make any real difference. Black void for instance, won't make the effect of the lightwarps known. I reccomend at least having a map with a basic ambient (or a void map with an ambient)

OR, have a map with completely black ambient and a basic direction for cool effects

HOW TO USE:

You can add them to your textures VMT files by adding/changing the default lightwarptexture value, or you can do it in element viewer:

1. add override materials to a model
2. open model in element viewer > click materials
3. right click material you want to apply it to, and add attribute "String"
4. name the string $lightwarptexture and press Ok
5. Go into that material now, and paste the directory to a lightwarp texture (see below for directories listing)
6. SAVE!

element viewer fiddling can lead to random crashes, so save often when you do this!

Which one gives the best Cel-Shaded look? It's very hard to see the examples that aren't images

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I followed the steps very carefully. And I still don't get any different textures on the model I'm working with.

it depends on the full mat setup

1. you gotta be using vertexlitgeneric (for the above examples that's what I used)
2. your material needs to use phong and have phong set to 1

im having issues with the textures. i have a map with ambient and im turning the model im using white, i add the $lightwarptexture and it doesnt work when i add it in, just stays white

As a sidenote, using the inverted texture as a cubemap helped me fix broken cubemaps.

there's a bit of an added difficulty, and that's the fact that my preview images for these use the lightwarps on completely white textures, so you'd need to do something like mat_fullbright 2 as well

These could be great for different types of scenarios! Like let's say you want to make a scene where a character is using some sort of heat sensing deivce like a thermal imaging camera or the like. The spectrum lightwarp, with a tad bit of tweaking, could really help bring life into this type of scene. These just have so much potential!
