Add Part Names

Description
Mod authors: This mod is soft-deprecated. Please migrate to the Highlander feature for this:

https://x2communitycore.github.io/X2WOTCCommunityHighlander/misc/BodyPartTemplateNames/

The Highlander way is more compatible with Unrestricted Customization and is much more resilient against rogue mods ruining the arrays.

Base mod to allow other mods to add localization to Torsos, Arms and Legs.

THIS MOD DOES NOTHING ON ITS OWN!

There is a quirk in the base game that doesn't allow Torsos, Arms and Legs as Body Parts to have their own display names like Helmets do, for example.

This mod adds a way to add those names, given proper input via localization files.

If you are a mod author who has added Torsos, Legs or Arms in a mod and want to add localization for them, you need to create a file called "AddedPartNames.int" (or whatever localization extension you need) and add your localization there using the method described below (also in SteamApps/workshop/content/268500/878158600/Localization/AddedPartNames.int).

[X2DownloadableContentInfo_AddedPartNames] ; these are examples. ; every entry consists of a ; .*Template="TemplateName" ; and a ; .*Name="DisplayString" ; without semicolons of course ; * can be Torso, Arms, Legs ; order is important. to not get confused, you should arrange them like this: ; failing to have one line registered (for whatever reason) ; results in ALL subsequent ones being shifted by one, so all parts after that will have the wrong name ; TL:DR it is CRUCIAL to always pair these entries ; parts that don't have entries at all, or have the .*Name Empty will get the old style "Torso 1" thing, for example .TorsoTemplate="CnvMed_Std_A_M" .TorsoName="Conventional Medium Kevlar A" .TorsoTemplate="CnvMed_Std_C_M" .TorsoName="Conventional Medium Kevlar C" .TorsoTemplate="CnvMed_Std_D_M" .TorsoName="Conventional Medium Kevlar D" .LegsTemplate="PltLgt_Std_Legs_A_M" .LegsName="Light Plated A" .ArmsTemplate="PWrHvy_Std_A_M" .ArmsName="WAR Armor Arms A"

You can then make my mod an (optional) requirement, and if people are subscribed to this, these Part Types will show Display Names.

WOTC when?

But speaking of mods using Highlander over APN, there's one by Lago called Part Names for Vanilla Armors . It "adds descriptive names to all the vanilla parts in the game" via a localization file that takes advantage of the Highlander feature. A file which you can edit yourself, should you desire to change the names Lago's mod uses!

For anyone with questions, like the ones below, about the Highlander change: you don't have to do anything to enable the feature. You simply sub to the Community Highlander. The link provided by robojumper in the description is really for modders and others who wish to create a localization file that utilizes the Highlander feature. But for the rest of us? Us users don't have to do anything at all, except sub to the Community Highlander. That's it.

Note though that mods with localization files made for Add Part Names will still need this mod. Obviously lol. But with Highlander, using the method in the link in the description, one can create a localization file that doesn't depend on APN.

I have the same question.

@STRICE
I still use this mod. I added my own display names for vanilla items, see the Discussion, and haven't migrated those to the Highlander. I don't believe the Highlander will automagically come up with names for things.

So... is that Highlander feature PART of the highlander mod per se, or does it require a specific download?

So, if you have the latest highlander version, do you have to do anything at all?

Did you add any localisation? See the Discussion.

Don't think this works with LW2. Using AML and still showing as torso 1, 2, 3, etc.
