Description

While gunships proved to be effective against more lightly defended targets, the Phoenix Army needed a solution to more dangerous targets that didn't put the lives of their pilots in as great of danger. The solution was to mount a gunship grade arsenal into a fighter body that could be agile and swift, able to do quick raids on targets and get out before being intercepted.

The result of this philosophy was the Vulture II Strike Fighter, which was quickly adopted by the Army, and prized for its ability to respond quickly and harshly to new threats. It would later work in tandem with dropships, where it would prepare the way for the latter and allow them to drop off troops with relative safety.

Flight
Remember that side and reverse thrust exist on the gunship only for stability purposes. For best results, bank hard when turning to cancel out lateral movement. Similarly, pulling the nose up or rotating to let the forward thrusters fire in retrograde will produce a much better stop than waiting for reverse thrust to do it.

Originally i had planned for wings, but given the restrictions placed on me by the size of missile turrets and their giant cargo system, this was the most efficient way i saw to do it.

As for heavy armor, no. I never really bother putting that in for small ships because it really doesn't make much of a difference. Better to be more agile, get in and out and not get hit at all

Nice! I like this design. The only issue i have with this asthetically is that it looks like it should have wings... and it doesn't. Anyhow, I like this ship.

With 85 tons, does it has heavy armor?

I always test all three directions of thrust simultaneously in the desert biome for maximum power usage. Apparently, 65 small reactors is what it takes these days...
