Description
The 600+ Collection

Over 600 of L4D2's sounds have been replaced. In order to make the addon more compatible with other mods, it has been separated into different categories. This collection displays all the different categories of sounds you can download. You can subscribe to all of them if you'd like, but mind the file sizes. All workshop items in this collection work on non-local servers.

In short, the mod was created with the following goals in mind:

  • To give Left 4 Dead 2 players a more immersive experience.
  • To add a small pinch of realism to the game's SFX system.
  • To give the atmosphere an overhaul while still maintaining the "horror" aspect of the game.
  • To give a sense of satisfaction to the players when using weapons.
  • To allow players to experience some of the game's unused content in-game (e.g. unused infected voice lines).

The mod was NOT created for showing off. In fact, there really isn't a whole lot to show off considering that maybe half of the custom sounds are simple replacements (confession). Sometimes, revitalizing the experience of a game can be done through copying and pasting. Don't worry, though. There are plenty of mixes and remasters to go along with the simple replacements.

Please do not hesitate to leave a comment on any of the individual workshop items. I will pay special attention to popular demand or constructive criticism.

As of 12/3/16, I will stop giving this addon updates unless:

  • There are bugs to be fixed.
  • Specific changes are mentioned by popular demand.

I believe the mod has finally reached the stage of completion and therefore, the only times subscribers will have to wait for their game to update 600+ upon launching is when I get a large number of people asking for a change in a specific sound/group of sounds or if somebody discovers a glitch.

Furthermore, I'd like to clarify the way the addon was split. Say you'd like to subscribe to the Weapons VPK, but can't because you're subscribed to a Call of Duty or CS:GO mod. If you'd like to keep the latter, then sorry, you probably can't get the former. The reason I will not split the Weapons VPK by each of Left 4 Dead 2's weapons is simple: one of the main points of 600+ is to completely (well, mostly) revitalize the atmosphere of the game. It isn't because I think the gun sounds produced (or borrowed) by Valve are ♥♥♥♥♥♥. There's really no special appeal to the Weapons VPK other than the fact that you can hear shells dropping onto the ground when firing. Whether the new gun sounds are better or worse is up to the subscribers. After all, I will make changes according to popular criticism. You can still experience the game differently even without this VPK. If you're the type of person who craves for realism in a video game, then you probably wouldn't be looking at mods that just change the skin or sound effect of a gun anyway. And hey, if I'm delusional and the new gun sounds still aren't "realistic" or "captivating", then feel free to leave a comment. I'm open to criticisms.

So, if you're looking for immersion, you can look at anything the Ambience or Miscellaneous VPKs have to offer. If you're really looking for that type of engagement, then I suggest taking a look at RNG (random number generator) mods. Putting them and this collection together could amount to something like a refreshing experience. The "Subscribe to All" button is only enabled for convenience. Some may want everything; others will want to choose between each workshop item.

600+ Sounds (Doors Only)
Created by NOIDED
The modified door sounds were originally in 600+ Misc., but I've decided that they are distinct enough to belong in their own VPK file. The contents of this item change the majority of the game's door sounds and adds a flavor of realism to the audio....
