Description
Ahrensruhe, which translates into Eagles Rest, is my take on a large german city. The map is fictional but based on heightmaps from the confluence of the Ob and Tom rivers. The map features the two rivers and their confluence that creates a few islands at a historical important crossroad.
The landscape is mostly flat and dotted with small lakes and patches of forest.
There's plenty of outside connections especially by land and air which makes Ahrensruhe a good choice for an inland transit hub.

- Temperate theme
- All connections except for two shiplanes.
- Roughly 165k trees used.
- All resources.
- I recommend using a 25-tile mod.
- Creds to Koesj and his Real life-sized interchanges.
- Creds to Raryan at Deviantart for making the beautiful imperial eagle.

Map appears to be broken and unplayable in the current version of the game. Indeed, the central islands gets flooded immediately after I've unpaused.

In modern German it is "Adler", but in old Germanic it was "arn" or some variant of it. Place names as well as first and given names still use the old form as a prefix. Ahrensburg (a town in North Germany), Ahrends (family name), Arn/Arnulf/Arnold (first names)... to give some examples.

Thank you for your map! Going to build a city on it now.

@Chrysalis: in Dutch the word 'arend' is the real name of the bird of prey and 'adelaar' is a synonym for it but also the word used for a depiction of the 'arend' in heraldry and legends. Maybe it's the same in German? 'Ahren' is the real bird and 'Adler' is the depiction of it or the synonym?

@Chrysalis: When I googled it it says Eagle with old germanic roots. I have it in my own name, but technically maybe not a german word I guess but germanic.

Really mice map, but the word Eagle in german is "Adler". I don't know what "Ahren" is supposed to mean. I am from Germany but I've never heard the word "Ahren", is it some kind of dialect?

Hey man, I've been looking forward to starting a new city on this map! Could you release a European theme as well please? I would do it myself but some of my mods seem to be conflicting with the map editor. Thanks!

How flat is the terrain in this map ?

@Jambi: You would have to start a new city though for it to take effect. Ingame I guess you could try and lower it with waterpumps aswell, and you have the terraform mod to just dig it deeper, and some mod where you can add (and maybe manipulate) watersources in a current game aswell.

@Jambi: You can easily fix that yourself, open the map in the editor and lower the water.
