WMI Warp Jump Module JD-2

  • is easily mountable and detachable
Description
Howdy!
Whiplash Military Industries is proud to present the JD-2 Warp Jump Module!
Once scientists had cracked the secret to Jump Drives, WMI sought to equip all of its vessels with this breakthrough technology. Unfortunately, not all ships have the space to accommodate the large machinery of the Warp Field generators. The JD-2 was the solution to this very real concern.

The Warp Jump Module is fitted with 2 jump drives which can provide warp ability to smaller vessels. The jump drives can also be used to increase the range of already warp capable vessels. In a sense, the drives can be used similar to a booster stage. The pods are easily mounted and removed thanks to a program that monitors the status of the drive's connector status. When you dock with the drive's connector, its personal thrusters are automatically turned off and the module is fastened to the parent ship via a landing gear for greater stability in flight. When the connector is disconnected, the drive activates its thrusters and disengages the landing gear.

This module is powered by 32 MW of power provided by internal batteries making it suitable for survival scenarios.
WMI hopes you are satisfied with your purchase!*

*Section 141.B13 of the WMI Consumer Agreement Policy forbids refunds on experimental technology

Useage Instructions
I have written a program to make the docking/undocking procedure much easier for users
  • Make sure the ship that you are attaching this to has a connector and enough space for the landing gear to gain purchase on the hull
  • Also, make sure that "Timer - Monitor Iterator" is running
  • To dock, align your ship's connector with that of the Warp Jump Module. Make sure that both the Module's connector and landing gear are lit up as yellow before you lock your connector [Default key: P]
  • Next, assign one of the module's jump drives to your ship toolbar (Search for "Jump Drive - Warp")
You are now ready to warp around to your heart's content!
To undock, unlock your connector [Default key: P] and you are good to go!

Thanks for stopping by :) I hope y'all enjoy! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to post them!

Looks like someone else loves this concept. The first thing I considered back when the jump drives were announced was this type of thing. I typically use a ship on survival that is literally a jump drive with engines, a cockpit, reactor, gyro, and merge block strapped on. Great for salvaging cargo ships. Yours looks a lot better than my approach.

With this type of module, you can capture a ship, and jump it back to your base / salvage yard rather than tug it home. Of course you'll want to disarm it before jumping it home. Might consider a remote control and antenna so you can jump it seperate from your capturing ship.

@Action Hank:
Thanks! Im almost done with a much more compact, more feasable version :D

Looking good, a nice solution for ships too small to upgrade properly. Could also be dropped off by other ships to rescue a vessel whos jump drive has been damaged. Well done!

I put the extra solar panels for redundancy, and no I do not use mods aside from a skybox :P
Q_meets_the_doctor 10 Jul, 2015 @ 7:10pm
btw do you use mods in your singleplayer world
Q_meets_the_doctor 10 Jul, 2015 @ 7:08pm
because the way they are layed out on that 1 is inefficent
Q_meets_the_doctor 10 Jul, 2015 @ 7:06pm
could mount the solar panels on (DX11) Conveyor Hinges so that you could set it fold away when in proximity to a ship

Yeah! I'm working on a smaller version with solar panels :)
