VME Rota - Rapid Insertion Dropship

The A.MS-RID "Róta" Rapid Insertion Dropship is a light hybrid gunship and low-capacity troop transport by Valkyrja - Maintenance & Engineering.

It is operated by a single pilot, offering room for four passengers, as well as their personal gear. Additional capacity is reserved for ammunition.

Uplift capacity of the Róta is sufficent to operate on all planetary bodies with atmosphere and up to 1.2G, but does not account for larger cargo being lifted.

As the Róta is intended to support advancing troops with close air support, it's armament consists of a large variety of weapons to engage and destroy any targets they might encounter. This includes 4x salvo-linked Rocket Pods, 4x Autocannons, 2x nose-mounted Gatling Guns, as well as two AI-controlled Autocannon turrets to provide point defence.

The Róta is Battery-powered, giving at an average flight-time of 30 minutes on full load. The ranges can be significantly extended by utilizing Forward-thrust override and not use full throttle at the speed-cap.



Dunno, I just needed an armed ropship for me and the bois in Ares at War (yep, we're still at it). I have not tested it with the Airdrag mod yet, as our little session is on easter-holiday break and real man test in production. Anyway, it handeles well enough in vanilla gameplay, so have fun!

This build originally sparked thge idea to go for a tricopter. Furthermore, I more or less 1:1 copied the wings of this design and did not come up with anything better myself. Their whole workshop is nothing short but amazing and you should definitely check it out!
