This Guide shows how to create and share all types of Workshop items

1. Freeplay Map Key
Simplest content to share is a Map Key

After you experimented with Freeplay map settings or found cool random key you can share it in the Freeplay window in 2 places
After subscribing to the mod it will appear in the Presets
2. Factory
If you made a cool factory and want to share it with a community you can do it in in-game menu
Your Factory will appear as a launchable Scenario in Map Editor
3. Blueprint
If you made a useful Blueprint and want to share it via Steam Workshop, you can do it in the Details Panel inside Blueprint Library
Your Blueprint will appear in Global Blueprint Library in the Premade section
4. Ruin
In the Map Editor you can make a Ruin. To do it, you'll need to create a map of 10*10 tiles. After configuring it you can upload it via the in-game menu
To work properly, Ruins require a bit more configuration than other content
  • Overriding Biome - If checked, Ruin will override Biomes it is generated on. Without it, only the objects will be placed, but not the tiles. If an object can't be placed on default biome, its placement will be ignored
  • Tier - How close this Ruin can be generated to a starting area
    • 0 - Starting Unlocked Territory
    • 1 - Any Territory isn't on the map edge
    • 2 - Territory on the edge of the map
  • Biomes list on which Ruin can be generated

Note that Ruins are placed only on game start and they are drawn from the Ruins pool. So the appearance of every Ruin on every map isn't guaranteed
5. Researcher
In the Science Lab you can dress your Cat Researcher and upload him to Workshop. You can't change and upload Unique Cats.

Edit biography and upload. This researcher will be added as a Unique Researcher to the pool.
6. Custom Localizations
Mark your mod as an RTL language if needed
After submitting your localization will appear in the end of the localizations list
7. Scenarios
If you want to create a Custom Scenario with Trade Ports, Terriotires and Cat archives, you need to generate a Freeplay map and use it as a base for your Scenario. Select "Add new Scenario", paste map key into field in Map Editor window.
After editing your Scenario, you can upload it as a mod from the in-game menu
You Scenario will appear as a launchable Scenario in Map Editor same as an uploaded Factory
8. Other content mods
Potentially, it is possible to add more complex mod types. The game was designed with modding in mind from the beginning, so if you want to, for example:
  • Changing\Adding Cats' visual
  • Changing\Adding Researchers' visual
  • Changing\Adding Map objects' visual
  • Adding more Cats
  • Adding more Items
  • Adding more Receipts
  • Adding more Buildings
  • etc
