Crawlspaces Rebuilt :: Anniversary Update (now with FiendFolio compatability!) [RGON]

Description
Crawlspaces are ugly.
Like, really ugly.
Even the new crawlspaces added with repentance have that dull black background, and every texture has an obvious flat border around its edge. I think most people agree that they need redecoration, and this mod aims to tackle that problem- adding the detail and polish that crawlspaces are and have been lacking since the game's release.

Features:
  • Added texture to walls. No more flat, boxy looking edges that make the rooms feel unfinished and weird.
  • Background walls. Crawlspaces now have proper backgrounds instead of an empty black void, as a result feeling way more like an actual room.
  • Ladders without that ugly cutoff. It now no longer looks like someone brutally hacked every ladder off at the top and bottom.
  • An actual entrance. No more popping in at the mouth of some mysterious hole- you can now see the trapdoor you entered from, and its even got some snazzy animations.
  • Improved atmospherics. Tiny little underground cubbies now have appropriately dim underground cubby lighting.
  • Intuitive gravity. Previously, tiles that you could walk through (broken poops, spikes, etc.) would inexplicably disable gravity and let you float around. This is now fixed, and gravity works about the way you would intuitively expect.

  • FiendFolio compatability!!!! The wait is finally over! FiendFolio crawlspaces no longer look like garbled nonsense! in fact, you might even say they look.. rebuilt?
  • Support for Mod Config Menu! Featuring a small list of customization options (and anti-softlock measures for modded room layouts).

Quick word of warning: Shaders are currently disabled due to some uh. Inconsistent results. For now, the next best thing is the legacy vignette option found in the config menu. I went on about this more in the change notes.

Oh yeah and of course, this mod requires REPENTOGON[repentogon.com].

I've got a few more ideas bouncing around for this mod, so future updates aren't totally out of the question.
(Although I'm not in any great rush)

This mod may not be compatable with mods that change how crawlspaces look!!
It's unlikely I'll be pushing out many more compatability updates, but it's always helpful to know about conflicts so if you run into any issues let me know!

it depends on it pretty hard. i don't think it'll break the game or anything without it, but the mod just won't do anything.

Does this mod depend on rgon or it just works better with it

i'm actually unsure about that, it may not. iirc there might be a mod config menu to disable that mod's crawlspace changes though?

it doesn't seem to work, it should work with improved backdrops right?

is it a solid wall, or just visual? if it has collision i don't think it would be coming from this mod as it doesn't change any physical room geometry.

i think this mod and more interesting crawlspaces are clashing because some of my crawlspaces are just entirely locked off by a wall

i understand, thanks for the response.
now that i look at these tile sets, i can probably make it myself, so its no problem.

for that problem you mentioned Uminoko, i'm fairly sure browsing isaac's local files and then navigating to data/crawlspacesRebuilt and deleting the save.dat files should fix this? it'll delete all your previously stored settings, but after that the mod should hopefully start storing them again like normal. next time this mod actually gets worked on i'll double check for any bugs that might be causing this though.

(idk when that'll happen though lol)

i do sorta like the idea of adding compatability for various mods like that, but at the moment all that spritework is more effort than i wanna bother with. however it might not be a bad idea to put out an option to toggle certain types of rooms, so you can avoid garbled conflicts like that without uninstalling the whole mod.
