Description
Current Mod Version: v1_0
Replaces: SCAR / Desert Rifle

The following mod replaces the default Desert Rifle's animation with a port of the L4D1 M16 animations by yours truly, with an extra twist.

The idea and goal of this mod are pretty simple, to try and add something to the vanilla M16 reload so that when you apply this animset to this specific weapon you don't get a super slow reload just to compensate for the reload time but rather you get an extension to it so that it feels more natural.

To achieve this I tried to think like TRS would have back in the day (maybe), for example they wouldn't have a flashy reload animation showing both sides of the weapon, instead they would probably only show the front side while doing this action as the back side would have less detail on it, they would also try to make an animation that focuses on keeping the flashlight pointing forward for better visibility in dark hallways, I have also animated the wire for the flashlight so that it visibly distorts when your playermodel grabs / lets go of the weapon.

In the end this is the final result and this took a couple days to make, and I think it came out looking nicely, a neat little experiment.

All animations are timed to work perfectly online, and as well as this I've patched up that ugly gap you see in the grip in the viewmodel, and I've also edited the world model a bit to change some of the ugly details / oversights it had.

This being said please don't make commissions out of this either, thank you. (If you do borrow content from this add-on I recommend you check this page every now and again, sometimes I come back and push an update if something bugs me post-release).

I hope you end up doing more because these are the most high quality Left 4 Dead 1 styled animations on the workshop. They're all sooo good.

Really cool, one of the most anticipated weapons to be competently ported to L4D1 anims with L4D2 reload timings. However, compared to most L4D1 anims arms clip too much when looking down, with default survivors mind you

Thoughts on potentially doing anything with melee weapons? Like adjusting them to be positioned less "up in your face" and have them get sorta pulled back when moving, aka making them fit a bit better with L4D1 (or "L4D 1+2") animations

Just had a chance to actually check it out. Two things, the hand clips into the magazine during the mag-in, I would just move the hand to fix this. Secondly I would recommend modifying the bolt pull to not jerk forward like it does now, TRS's way of pulling charging handles/bolts was very smooth and right now the bolt pull back matches this but not the bolt moving forward. (Uzi is a good example of their style)
