Description
Welcome to Arctics Expanded - the mod that aims to bring some flavor to the region that lacks it in Vanilla EU4. Right now our focus is on the Bering Strait and surrounding lands - Asian Far East (Kamchatka) and Alaska.



A list of features in the mod right now:
  1. New provinces! ~50 new provinces around the Bering Strait;
  2. New regions! 2 new regions - Kamchatka (Asian Far East) and Alaska;
  3. New Bering Strait trade node represents the importance of the Bering Strait for trade between North America and Asia;
  4. New Colonial Kamchatka colonial region - yes, it is a colonial region in Asia. We think it being a colonial region and not a trade company represents colonizers' interactions with this region the best.
  5. New culture groups and cultures! Kamchatkan is now a culture group (Itelmen, Koryak, and Chukchi cultures) & Eskaleut is now noticeably bigger (added Yuit, Yupik, and Alutiiq cultures) & Tlingit are finally here!
  6. New tags! All four Siberian OPMs from Vanilla have been reworked and improved. Also, Anaoul and Evens are added to Kamchatka, and Yuit, Yupik, Alutiiq, Aleut, and Tlingit are added to Alaska.
  7. New governments! All of the nations mentioned now have Native governments with new unique reforms. We think them having Native mechanics represent their way of life way better than how they are in Vanilla.
  8. New national ideas! All of the nations mentioned now have unique national ideas, and every one of them is focused on a different playstyle!
  9. New mission trees! All of the nations mentioned now have a mission tree! A big chunk of it is shared between them, but every tag has unique missions that are based on their history.
  10. New tech group! All of the nations mentioned now are of the Arctic technology group - because historically Alaskan and Kamchatkan people were more connected to each other than to other people around them.
  11. New formable! Now all nations in the Arctic technology group can form Arctic Empire by finishing their mission tree.
  12. New naval doctrine! All nations of the Arctic tech group now have unique naval doctrine focusing on Kayaks.
  13. New religion! Shamanism is back after being shafted by Paradox a long time ago. It uses cults mechanic but also introduces a new one - shamans.
  14. New advisors! Shamans are unique advisors available only to Shamanist nations. They not only give unique modifiers but also unlock plenty of events and decisions to interact with.
  15. New monument! Whale Bone Alley is a new monument available for Shamanist nations. It provides unique bonuses and its main goal is to make life in the Arctics bearable.

Those were just general things we wanted to add to the mod!
Now it's time we talk about the true star of this mod - Ainu:
  1. New Ainu ideas! New ideas that represent historical Ainu better, and can be improved by some missions!
  2. New Ainu mission tree! 25+ new missions revolving around the Ainu reconquest of the Japanese islands.
  3. New unique mechanic - Jomon Unity! As Ainu, you have the heritage of the Jomon people on your shoulders, and you have to decide how their heritage should be viewed at.
  4. New Formable! Return Jomon to life by finishing the Ainu mission tree. Choose what ideas they would have and shape their identity yourself!
  5. New Cultures in Japan! Get to know new cultures native to Japan and save them from being completely assimilated (Emishi, Ryukyu, and Hayato).
  6. New decisions and events! A lot of flavor for the Ainu - get to know about the way of life of these people!

When I tried to create a Siberian indigenous tribe with the custom nation feature, the technology group restrictions and capital region restrictions prevented me from doing so, so please add a patch note to remove it.

Tried playing the Ainu but it seems there's something wrong with the mission tree as it merges with the arab tree it looks like and starts glitching the further down you go. I thought maybe there was a mod comp error but even with just this mod it's still doing that. Shame because this looked really interesting.

Fantastic mod! My only gripe with it is that Evens starts expanding westward and inevitably borders Manchu, which immediately prompts Manchu to start invading all of the Arctic tribes. So either you have to play as Evens to prevent this, or babysit your neighbours from knocking on the wrong door...
