[Vanilla/WotC] Black Market Soldier Stats

Description
Shows the stats of soldiers offered at the Black Market.

Settings

The mod has the following options that are configurable via Mod Config Menu:

Highlight above/below average stats

If activated, the stat values will be color-coded to indicate if it is an above average (green), average (white) or below average (red) stat value. The average value of a stat is determined by taking the average value at Rookie level and adding all progressions up to the rank of the Black Market soldier.

Assign a cost to revealing the stats

If you prefer to attach a cost to revealing the stats of a Black Market soldier (similar to revealing hidden Dark Events), both the resource type (Intel or Supplies) and the amount to be paid are configurable in the mod settings.

Require Sectoid autopsy before showing Psi Offense

There is an option to hide the Psi Offense stat until the Sectoid autopsy has been completed. This option is primarily designed for players of Long War of the Chosen, aligning it with how displaying the stat is handled in that mod. This option is active by default!

Compatibility

This mod can be activated for existing campaigns. It's compatible with vanilla, Long War 2 as well as War of the Chosen.

When the option to assign a cost to revealing stats is used, you cannot safely remove the mod from the campaign anymore.

Credits

For the sake of a consistent user experience, the stats layout is the same as in AstralDescend's Stats on New Promotion Screen. The side panel idea was inspired by Extended Personnel Info by the same author.

@fearlessiron no, I was trying this and had a problem where AML would hang when scanning mods:

What ended up working is launching AML inside steam as a non-steam app

@miku567 I'm also on Linux and AML works for me. I've used the approach described here (the "easy way" one), have you tried that?

@fearlessiron yeah I'm on linux

Hey miku567, thanks for reaching out. Are you playing in an environment where you can't use AML?

As XpanD wrote, I'd have to compile the mod against the WotC SDK and create a separate release to make it work with the default launcher.

That'll be the vanilla support, think that would only be fixable with a separate WOTC-only release?

For what it's worth: There's a lot of mixed environment mods like this, voicepacks in particular. Vanilla and WOTC use separate development setups, and the full WOTC SDK already takes up 100GB just on its own.

I believe this (+ the awkwardness of maintaining two builds) is why a ton of mods are WOTC-only, even if they could technically work on vanilla as well. Easiest to just grab AML to make all that work. (and to get its other fixes and quality of life stuff)

The official launcher aka not AML marks this mod as incompatible with WOTC, incorrectly. Can you fix this?

Is there any mod that give information about items in Black Market?

Very nice mod. Thank you. When used in conjunction with [WOTC] Filtered Menus , they overlap. What I did was change the configs on Mod Menu for BMSS:

Stat Panel Location X: to 1340
Stat Panel Location Y: to 340 (optional)

or

Stat Panel Location X: to 280
Stat Panel Location Y: to 390 .

Just in case someone also uses it and encountered the overlap. I prefer the first option

Cheers from Brasil

Great mod! You went above and beyond with the configurability, and hats off for version controlling it too!
