Do NOT use this mod as it is heavily outdated and is no longer being developed. Some of its features are currently being ported into Hungry Europans directly!


Please use this exact mod load order to prevent any issues:
1 - XXX Compatibility patch (if you use one)

4 - Any other mods of your choosing

Note: Please remember to subscribe to the Hungry Europans mod as it is now a dependency !


Hunger: Once your hunger reach 50% negative effects will appears, becoming stronger with time : Reduced movement speed, Visual imparing effect, Stomach noises and Major Health Damage (up to 50% vitality). Eating is the best way to reduce it.

Thirst: Once your thirst reach 50% negative effects will appears, becoming stronger with time : Heavy visual imparing effects, Dry coughing and Major Health Damage (up to 50% vitality). Drinking clean water is the best way to reduce it.

Sleepiness: Once your sleepiness reach 50% negative effects will appears, becoming stronger with time : Extreme visual imparing effects, Yawning and Moderate Health Damage (up to 20% vitality). Sleeping (in beds) is the best way to reduce it.

Mood: Once your mood reach 50% negative effects will appears, becoming stronger with time : Reduced repair speed, crying and Temporary Heavy skills reduction. A lot of activities will help you in reducing it.


(Vanilla) Beds: of any kinds (medical, prison beds, etc.) will restore your sleepiness meter. Keep in mind that sleeping will make you "blind" and will muffle the sounds around you. Also you will be snoring a little and take a little time to fully wake up. You can also purchase, craft and place them.

The BoomBox: (And his many mixtapes) will allow you to hear a multitude of music while reducing your mood affliction. It can be bought, crafted, placed, attached and held in hand all while working perfectly fine (note : All players will hear the same music !)

(Vanilla) Musical Instruments: The guitar, accordion and the harmonica have been reworked. They now require music sheets to be played on, but doing so will improve your mood affliction as well as for everyone around you (note : sheets only require 1 plastic to be crafted and can be deconstructed)

(Vanilla) Chairs: of any kind (as long as they are usable) will slow down your tiredness and slightly improve your mood affliction. They are also now buyable, craftable, holdable and placeable.

As it is now a dependency to NEEDS, it will be required for it to function properly. His creator primarely focus on foods, drinks and cooking aspect of a submarine crew life. His work is really good and that's why I removed my kitchen appliances to use his instead.
With it, butchering, cooking and preparing meals feel far more immersive. Also his chef job is far better than mine (as well as its talents).

Note: I'm sorry if that decision may break some ongoing campaigns, so I deeply apologize if that happen to your saves.


Sadly, with the 1.0.0 release of barotrauma, stations host a lot more npcs (which isn't bad btw), meaning that almost everyone tanked a massive fps drop when entering such areas. The most direct solution was to remove all needs related affliction to npcs,
making player controlled characters the only ones affected. However, this DOES NOT prevent you from playing singleplayer (or multiplayer with some npc crews) using this mod. Just keep in mind that npc will not attempt to cure your needs or theirs by themself.
This honestly may or not may add a new depth layer to singleplayer campaigns as you will need to micromanage your crew (remember they only suffer from afflictions when you are controlling them). This kinda new "mechanic" may remember you from the fatigue
system from the game States of Decay, in which only the main controlled character will get tired. Anyways, i hope to not have disapointed you with this change, but i think having proper playable frames per seconds is far better in my opinion.

EDIT: During missions or campaigns, NPCs will slowly "heal" their needs related affliction overtime. This is a recent change and should make your singleplayer experience far more pleasant than before.

- Tweaking some vanilla affliction to better interact with your needs afflictions (example: Bleeding should make more thirsty etc.)
- Add more depth to need related affliction (something similar to Neurotrauma maybe?)
- Balancing the mod to make it fair and interesting to use (folling players suggestions)
