Customize Character Override Hak EE (CCOH EE)

Description
Customize Character Override Hak Extended Edition (CCOH EE) v8.61

This is the override installation of the CCOH EE. For patch hak installation, full readme and further information go to

https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwnee/hakpak/original-hakpak/customize-character-override-hak-extended-edition-ccohee

CCOH EE allows you to customize your character in-gamne:

Once installed the CCOH lets you:

Modify items:

- modify/dye armors (or parts of an armor) without being charged or making skill checks,
- modify/dye/hide cloaks,
- modify/dye/hide helmets,
- modify weapons,
- modify shields,
- rename items,
- edit description.

Modify characters:

- change portrait,
- change head,
- change phenotype,
- change body-parts,
- add/remove a tail,
- add/remove wings,
- shrink/enlarge

Plugins:

- ride a horse
- visual effects
- select deity
- Scabbard&Quiver
- Auto-Identify
- Cheat console (XP, Gold, item property editor, stores, ...)
- Craft trap (CCOH version)

Most features can be used with henchmen or any NPC too.

CCOH Extended Edition REQUIRES NWN EE build 8193.37 or better.

Before using the CCOH you should INCREASE THE INSTRUCTION LIMIT (Options -> Game Options -> Game -> Scripts -> Advanced -> Vm Runtime Limit Instructions -> move slider to its rightmost position).
This is not required (and not possible) on NWN EE build 8193.37.

To use the CCOH right-click your character and select the craft (trap) icon. If everything is installed properly you should see the CCOH dialog (see first screenshot).

CCOH works best with UI Scaling 1.0 and high density font enabled. It's designed to also work with UI scaling up to 2.0 and/or high density font disabled. See the readme for more informations about limitations, problems and how to make the CCOH to work with UI Scaling larger that 2.0.

The CCOH should work in multiplayer/PWs but is not tested in multiplayer/PWs. See readme for more informations.

CCOH should work with other workshop items that DO NOT OVERWRITE x0_skill_ctrap.dlg (the craft trap dialog). For workshop items that overwrite the craft trap dialog (e.g. Alternate Combat Animation Pack (ACP v4.0)) compatibility is not guaranteed. Depending on the order of subscribing it may or may not work. For me the following order seem to work: subscribe to CCOH EE first, then subscribe to ACP v4.0.

v8.0 (2022-06-19): first release

v8.1 (2022-07-26): bug fixes, improvements, new features

v8.2 (2022-09-05): modified craft trap dialog, small fixes/changes
v8.21 (2022-09-28): small fixes/changes
v8.22 (2022-09-30): bug fixes

v8.3 (2023-02-06): rename character (requires preview patch for PCs), CCOH scans portraits folder for custom portraits, bug fixes
v8.31 (2023-03-01): rewritten ACP support, CCOH now supports both v4.0 and v4.1, combat style preview
v8.32 (2023-06-08): bug fixes

v8.4 (2023-06-11): change soundset, change gender, NUI visual transform editor, NUI name&description editor, NUI clock, bug fixes, other improvements
v8.41 (2023-07-20): CCOH Fast Travel System cheat

v8.5 (2024-10-17): henchmen control system, bug fixes&improvements, compatibility with NWN EE build 8193.37
v8.53 (2024-11-11): some improvements regarding visual effects, bug fixes

v8.6 (2025-01-21): most parts should work with 2da files of any size, bug fixes
v8.61 (2025-03-30): some changes to Ride/Mount plugin to support custom mounts, bug fixes

Please report any bugs you find here.

A scroll bar would be good but unfortunately the NWN dialog window does not have one.
By clicking on the lines below a list (------ [20]--) you can decrease the size of the list and thus decrease the number of dialog lines. This might help a little bit. The changed sizes are stored but you would have to do that for every list individually.
Added skill points are not lost on level up but they are not skill ranks you can see at level up (or use to meet requirements for feats / prestige classes). Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it because it's not possible to add skill ranks by script. So instead CCOH adds skill points to the PCs hide (an 'item' equipped by the PC). And as for anything on items you don't see them on level up (and cannot use them for meeting requirements for feats/classes).
The old CCOH 6.3 should still work with the current update,

It would have been good if the dialogue window had a scroll bar, as it is it often sinks below my screen when I expand some options and I end up not being able to confirm my choices because I don'd see the prompt.
No, I do not want to shrink my UI, there's a lot of reading in this game and I want to be able to read dialogues without adding strain to my astigmatism.

Also, adding new skills works only until level up. As soon as level up occurs, all the skills added with this tool get removed.

There used to be a simpler alternative to this tool, would it still work with the latest update?

New version 8.53 -> 8.61: CCOH EE now should work with 2da files of any size. Also Horse plugin has better support for custom mounts.

prc 5.0 has some pretty large 2da files. Reading these files causes instruction limit errors in the latest version of NWN EE because you cannot change the runtime instruction limit anymore.
There's a newer version of CCOH EE available at

https://neverwintervault.org/project/nwnee/hakpak/original-hakpak/customize-character-override-hak-extended-edition-ccohee

that should fix the problems with large 2da files. I will upload this version here as well within the next days.

im getting an error when trying to edit my characters, and cant seem to find the Vm Runtime Limit Instructions setting? I only have the prc 5.0 mod installed, would that be conflicting with the mod?

No problem, unfortunately it's not possible to detect which materials are actually used by the item.

@kamiryn I’m an idiot. The problem was that I did not realize that I had the ability to select different materials for the dyeing (leather, cloth, metal) and I had not selected one that would actually change the color of the cloak I was wearing.

@kamiryn Unsubscribing and resubscribing changed nothing. Do I need to change something in the game settings?
WaffleironMcMulligan 25 Mar @ 12:51pm
@kamiryn I’m playing the OC (Wailing Death). When I get the chance I’ll try unsubscribing and resubscribing
kamiryn  [author] 25 Mar @ 11:18am
That's strange... unfortunately I don't have an explanation. Maybe unsubscribing and resubscribing will help? Are you playing one of the official campaigns or a custom module?
