Wildfire

Description
The first mod to bring actual fire to Starbound. Vote "Yes" for arson!

Jungle Inferno Update
The Jungle Inferno Update is out, featuring flammable trees and oil, and brand-new (heh) fire textures! Check out the changelog for a complete list of features here!

ABOUT
Wildfire is a mod that adds completely functional fire to the game, and makes it possible to ignite wood, plants, and oil using flamethrowers or Molotovs!

Once spawned, fire will realistically spread to flammable things nearby and burn them. Additionally, wooden blocks and platforms have a chance to become charred instead of destroyed.

More features are found here.

COMPATIBILITY
This mod uses a detection technique that automatically determines whether a block/object should be flammable. As a result, it is highly compatible with other mods.
A detailed explaination of this technique can be found here.

Exceptions: Mods which add scripts to the molotovflame or flamethrower projectile (basically mods that change the way Molotovs and flamethrowers work). These would require a compatibility patch.

FAQ
Q: Is this compatible with x?
A: See above.

Q: How do I put it out?
A: Fire is extinguished by all liquids save for lava and oil, and by removing the blocks it's on.

Q: Are protected tiles flammable?
A: No.

Q: I burned them. I burned them all. They're dead, every single one of them. And not just the blue rose Florans, but the red rose Florans and the Floran buds, too.
A: This is not a question.

you could create a mod to remove items after death, its working principle is quite simple, but it would give a completely different approach to the game, if all items from the inventory were completely removed after death, it would create a positive circulation of weapons and armor, which would equalize the balance of resources and items in large modpacks

In case anyone's struggling with this in 2025... I just spent the last couple of hours or so going through a modlist of 450 trying to find out which mod was causing molotovs to not spawn the Wildfire flames like expected, and found out it was Project Redemption - it's not mentioned in the changes anywhere, but it also makes changes to fire, molotovflame, and ember weather projectiles. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to make those compatible, but in the meantime just removing those changes brings back the Wildfire flame spread.
Thought I'd put that out there :)

is it possible to add some way to be immune to the fire?

I'm pretty consistently getting crashes around fire of any kind since installing, so I'm going to opt out. I've got an utterly monsterous modlist and this is almost certainly just some kind of conflict with one of the like 200 mods I have installed.
Thx for the help with troubleshooting dude, this mod is awesome and I look forward to properly trying it out sometime ^^

Okay after some further testing I'm only getting this issue with the moltov, and it's accompanied with a lot of lag. With a flamethrower the framerate remains stable and charred blocks are correctly spawned
