RE8 Village M79 (Grenade Launcher)

A highly customised and engraved grenade launcher found abandoned in one of the locked village houses in Resident Evil 8 Village is the M79, known as "GM 79" in-game. Now what on earth would a Romanian villager possess a grenade launcher for?

An iconic wooden furniture grenade launcher first used during the Vietnam War. The M79 is an American 40mm break-action grenade launcher favoured by frontline troops used in a whole variety of situations, whether it may be to deploy smoke screens, or to clear out an enemy holdout from a safe distance. Due to the M79's appearance in Vietnam with it's distinctive impact noises, the M79 has earned several nicknames by infantry troops such as the "Thumper" by the Americans, and the "Wombat Gun" by the Aussies.
