DM-Rankin

Description
"A medium sized map set in an old industrial building, in the middle of a heavy thunderstorm." - Sjoerd "Hourences" De Jong.

A remake of the deathmatch map "DM-Rankin.ut2", from Unreal Tournament 2004.

I made this for fun during my hiatus with everything else. It used to have UT99 items and weapons, but now it has my UT2004 stuff, which you can get here.

This map was NOT ported from UT2k4, it was remade. Just very, very accurately. I did it by opening the original map in UnrealEd and exporting it's world geometry as a .obj file, which i then scaled by 0.8 (looking back, the correct scale would be 0.8125) and turned into a Source Engine model. Then, i placed the model in a new empty map in Hammer and manually remade all of the brushwork using it as reference. I didn't export all the textures and models, since GMod already comes with some pretty similar ones. I exported enough of the original content to not require any other games to be mounted.

Thanks for adding my favorite map in gmod.

Yep, but you have to export only the world geometry, because if you export props you'll easily go over the vertex limit.

"I did it by opening the original map in UnrealEd and exporting it's world geometry as a .obj file" <- Wait, is that even possible? Exporting a whole map as .obj file?
