Auto Pickup

In 1 collection by Sam
Quality of Life Mods
3 items
Description
Tired of putting items to your backpack over your shoulder? With Auto Pickup, you can release these items anywhere to automatically pick them up.

Enable the lock-on mode to pick up items from distance by locking on to them with the gravity gloves.

Compatible with custom weapons. Works on any map.

Commands:

Command
Value
Description
auto_pickup_mode

Set auto pickup lock on mode 0/1
auto_pickup_enable

Enable auto pickup
auto_pickup_ammo_insertion_range

Creating persistent settings:

Create a config file named "auto_pickup.cfg" in your game config directory, and put your commands in it.

/steamapps/common/Half-Life Alyx/game/hlvr/cfg/auto_pickup.cfg

You may also include other game commands in this file, such as "vr_hold_ragdoll_large_biped_counter_spring_freq 2" to remove ragdoll constraints.

Notes:

- Picking up an item while the same type of item is inside or under the hand may fail to pick up the item. Simply move your hand a bit further before releasing.

- Lock-on mode does not work on custom-functionality-weapon ammo (hlvr_weapon_generic_pistol), NOT reskins. This is only because it is not possible to get the ammo amount of these clips.

- (debug) auto_pickup_ammo_insertion_range is 7.5 by default; setting this value too large will cause the pickup to fail depending on the distance between hands while picking up an ammo while holding its weapon on the other hand - range determined by the value.

- (debug) auto_pickup_ammo_insertion_debug draws the ammo insertion point (magenta), and ammo position once on release (green), and once one frame before it is picked up (red). Auto pickup is cancelled when either of these intersect with the insertion point.

This mod sadly does not work with the Resin Watch mod

@Alu Midian , assuming you have both addons enabled and started a new save, open the console and see if you can execute "auto_pickup_enable" command. If the command does not exist, then it's an initialisation issue that they need to fix; if the command is there, then it might be functionality conflict that can be looked into.

seems to conflict with Resin Watch, making this mod not work, that author seems to think it has something to do with scalable init support, but im room temp IQ when it comes to mods so its all moon speak to me

Bloody brilliant mod, just started playing Levitation on my Quest 2 and gone are the times the controller loses tracking when I move my hand over my shoulder. Thank you! ❤️

Make sure you have the Auto Pickup addon enabled even while loading a save.

I just loaded up a game with only 2 addons enabled in the save file; auto pickup and resin detector. But auto pickup isn't working. Any thoughts? It was fine last time I played. I have validated all files in Steam.

Sorry, got it working, I didn't realize that I need to restart a new game (can't use my save) and that's why never heard about the 'Start game with addons' button. Now I see it and it works. Thank you! Now need to resolve using of ammo from backpack... :)

What does the console say when the game is loaded and you release the ammo?

And just to be sure, did you choose 'Start game with addons'?
