Lore:

In the early 22nd Century, PFS rose to a place of power and influence in the Republic that it had never seen since the earliest years of the Republic itself. By building ties with the RIA and taking part in their own plot to remove Internal Security (the balancing force between the corporations), PFS found itself enjoying a new sense of freedom and autonomy.

The corporation quickly set about with a "defensive" initiative aimed at overhauling the aging Phoenix fleet. They would partner with Naval high command to begin to phase out older ships, homogenize a new fleet, and write new naval combat doctrines. This cooperation between the Navy and PFS became known as the Typhon Initiative. In mythology, Typhon was the father of monsters. In these times, he would again represent the birthing of a new wave of destroyers.

Lore aside, why did I create a new collection for these ships?

I have been building ships since 2013, and this game has changed drastically over those years. I delved into mods for a while, new systems were introduced that older ships hadn't been designed for, and patches simply broke some others. I have a vast collection of very obsolete ships, and updating them is something I don't have the desire to do, as they can never be as efficient as a new ship designed with new parts in mind.

Typhon represents a collection of "modern" ships (now that SE is relatively stable in its balance), which I plan to continually update and care for. As such, these ships will likely be fewer in number, but also designed to be better than their predecessors.

These ships will have some unique design features:
- Vertical layout for Space Vessels (Because Physics)
- Heavy focus on missiles (Thank you Whiplash)
- Heavier focus on Hydrogen (Now that it doesn't burn out in 5 seconds)
- Consistent Docking Scheme (To ensure that each ship can dock with the others)
- Shuttle Hangars (For non-docking crew transfers)
- Mythological Creature Names (fits with the whole Typhon thing)
- No Mods and Survival Capable (As always)

I am ultimately trying to create a coherent fleet with a tactical doctrine of missile artillery. Long range missile carriers designed to kill from afar, that tend to prize speed, range, and firepower over armor. Naturally, some exceptions will exist, and there will be some brawlers created to protect these fragile fleets. However, missiles will be the focus these days.

I don't expect to build carriers much in the future. With missiles, I don't really see the point in SG ships in space anymore. I do hold a different view when it comes to atmospheric craft, though.

As with all my ships, feel free to use these and modify them, just be sure to give credit if you upload anything :)
