The Shoggoth Race Mod & Friends

Description
The Shoggoth Race Mod & Friends

Current Content:
  • A fully functional race (and another sister race that slipped in);
  • An absolute ton of customisation options;
  • Some unique outfits;
  • Special racial armor;
  • Unique racial weapons;
  • Strange racial food stuff;
  • A very blood-hungry alternate starting weapon;
  • Unique furniture and blocks to construct with.

Beginner's And Less Beginner's Guide
  • First and most important of all, you'll want to craft yourself a Blood Bank at an Inventor's Table. It will allow you to bleed yourself for important materials. Alternatively, using a Sacrificial Knife or Hemophilia darts can allow you to bleed your foes.
  • Then, using your own freshly obtained flesh, you will want to craft an Organ laboratory. At it, you will find most of the mod's content, including weapon recipes, furniture and organs.
  • Now is where the fun begins. You can 'improve' your Broken Protectorate's Broadsword into a Cursed Sword, which deals an immense amount of damage as well as having a reactive parry. We are not liable for any lethal injuries holding this weapon may cause.
  • A Shoggoth's flesh is alive even when split apart from it's body. Thanks to this, it will take any form it is ordered to have, and thus, allows itself to be shaped into a multitude of furniture options as well.
  • Due to the fact you are an eldritch being, simple armor does not cut the job. Consume alien organs to reinforce your self.
  • However, organs take alot of organic materials, most of which can't simply be stolen from living beings. Consider crafting a hunting bow to stock up on meat, and get an apothecary to get the medecine necessary to upgrade your organs properly.
  • 1.1 : You can now gather materials in the Ancient Vaults to make T7 organs through the Deathstate Portal, that is now used to make everything. Ancient Vault Chests will give Blueprints to the new organs, while pots and monsters will give Runestones required to craft them. The Golem Core can only be obtained from Vault Guardians.
  • Lastly, there is some other content spreaded around the game, which you can find here and there.

Freshest Content
  • New crafting station that allows to execute trials from elder gods in order to gain special rewards, such as the Deathstate Portal pieces!
  • New T7 organs!
  • Over triple the amount of hairstyles and color palettes!
  • New sister race, the Mindflayers! (They use the same gear but have a different appearance.)
  • New outfits!
  • New racial weapons!
  • New shoggoth 'cooking'!
  • New shoggoth tech!
  • New blocks and furniture!
  • Big improvements to blood bank, as well as new ways to inflict bleeding!
  • A handful of resprites to improve existing content!
  • Balance changes, polish and bug fixes!

Upcoming Updates

1.1 : Tentacled Arsenal Update
This update will add Tier 7 organs, available at the currently useless Deathstate's portal.

1.2 : Eldritch Rites Update
This update will focus on adding more lore to the race itself, as well as adding a few minor features.

1.3 : Fresh'o Jell-o Update
This update will focus on improving the current features, sprite art, balancing the weapons and adding a few more things to mess around with. Also more blocks.

1.? : Stuff
Anything could happen at that point.

Note : All updates may receive additional cosmetics and customisation options, as well as more furniture as they are developped.

@Tiramizu Cake;
The Github repo is a rework of the Beta version, which is not publicly available outside of the Discord (Normally), so keep in mind it is currently still considered Beta. It is not yet released for good reason.

If you DO want to use the GitHub version, at least come by and tell us your opinion, bug reports and issues with it!

Don't have the files handy to tell you exactly, but usually every mod that has that feature shares the same setup;
Door has two red laser-wire nodes and one blue, or was it two blue and one red?
Anyway, connect the reds to the blues between two doors and they should work. If one combo of nodes is giving you the option to go in, try the other nodes.

Keep in mind that there is still a range limitation of "your screen". Game only loads stuff that is visible. If the output door is too far off-screen then it may not work as it is not loaded.

How do the background doors work? I can't figure it out at all.

@Emerald;
Nope. It was planned to be on it's own planet type, but we're rethinking that one.

Does your mod have towns/villages?
Redstark Magnusson  [author] 3 Feb @ 12:56am
@Turbotowns
Race ablities are not a thing in Vanilla Starbound, and we didn't wanna bother writing yet another framework for racial abilities on top of the already existing ones.
As for Mindflayers and Shoggoths, you basically just get to pick their body design, they should function the same for the most part. Would you rather be goop or would rather be tentacles?
Turbotowns 2 Feb @ 10:39pm
So, are there any race abilities? And are there functional differences between shoggoths and mindflayers?
