Drill on opposite side, mag plates...
On a different, non-described note, the ship can't handle full capacity (w/ maxed inventory modifiers, could be different with the less or default options), as non-upwards thrusters can't support the weight if used to move upwards, and the upwards thrusters struggle to counter descending inertia. Because of this I recommend finishing your run and dropping off your materials before the drill begins to fill, as you will still have most of your maneuverability this way and lessen the risk of belly-flopping the ship on return.
