Description
The SKULD Light Aerospace Freighter is a small grid cargo-transporter for planetside operations and orbital transit. It comes with Atmospheric- and Hydrogen Thrusters, multiple tanks and cargo-containers, plus a decent amount of armor and firepower.

This ship is full vanilla and easy to build in survival. It is fully conveyed, thruster-damage compatible and pre-loaded with uranium and ammunition. No Mods were used in this build.

You will need the Decorative Pack DLC to use the Industrial Cockpit. However, the vessel can easily be refitted with the standard-version.

3 - Gatling Turret - Toggle on/off
4 - Parachute Hatches - Open/Close
5 - Atmospheric Thrusters - Toggle on/off
6 - Hydrogen Thrusters - Toggle on/off
7 - Large Hydrogen Thrusters - Toggle on/off
8 - Landing Gears: Switch Lock
9 - Connectors: Switch Lock

Key features
  • Tons of space - One large plus two medium cargo-containers plus a set of two hydrogen tanks allow you to carry a lot of materials and fuel around
  • Connectors everywhere - You can dock the ship pretty much everywhere* without having to modify your base or Carrier-Vessel. Connectors also help to dump your cargo quickly if neccessary
  • Fuel-efficent - Preset Cruise-control toolbar helps you to save fuel during orbital transit
  • Not without a fight - Someone's after your cargo? A defense turret will keep the scavangers at bay. And if you end up surrounded, two gatling guns and a reloadable rocket launcher provide you with a fair to punch through that blockade

Description
The SKULD Aerospace Freighter was designed for independent freelancers who want a maximum of flexibility and freedom. Following this design-philosophy, it's no suprise the vessel is based on the VALKYRIE-hull. However, while space-travel is possible and the ship has the capabilities to operate outside an atmosphere for a limited time, it was not optimized for this environment. The lack of Ion Thrusters and a Jumpdrive make it unsuited for an interplanetary hauler. However, the SKULD is intended and capable to serve as a dependable cargo-lifter and you're still able to make a trip to the moon or a near asteroid, if you whish to.

There's a fair selection of small freighters which have already established their place on the market. To keep up with them, the SKULD was pushed to its maximum capabilities. This includes a set of one large and two medium cargo containers. Two hydrogen-tanks provide fuel for thrusters and engines and can be refueled by the ships o2/h2-generator.

In order to further improve your autonomy, the SKULD also comes with a survival-kit, which has been strategicaly placed to survive a crash-landing as good as possible. While its main purpose is to save you from loosing your ship when getting into a fatal accident, the kit also allowes you create your own goods, spare parts or the basics for a complete new outpost. The onboard o2/h2-generator also enables you to refuel your ship at every source of ice, so you can keep those engines running and recharge the batteries even without access to a dock or uranium.

However, power-management is a factor. While the SKULD employees an impressive selection of batteries and can operate without any uranium at all, the ship is quite power-hungry. Your tanks are not just there for emergencies. Use engines and thrusters to support the hungry Atmospheric-Thrusters when necessary and avoid complex maneuvers whenever possible - this is not a fighter, so don't expect it to handle like one.

To make your life easier, the SKULD comes with all the little features, V.M.E-ships are known for. Multiple vents ensure you'll always fly with a full oxygen-tank, connectors on four sides allow you to dock and land the ship pretty much everywhere and the preinstalled cruise-control-script helps you save precious fuel. The vessel also features an onboard-projector for field-repairs, a personal locker to house your items without the risk to accidentally unload them, and a jumpstart-reactor should you ever run out of power.

Author's note
This SKULD was tested on the alien planet with 3x Inventory size enabled. She's able to carry its own weight with full inventory on Atmospheric Thrusters only. You can stuff this thing with cargo completely, including the connectors, cockpit and survival-kit. However, expect to burn a TON of fuel when trying to break orbit with that much load.

Hey, I love the designs you make.
While I was building this in survival for the first time, I noticed the version my projector built(or what i pasted in creative), is different than the version the repair projector loads. 2 programmable blocks, 4 armour pieces, and 2 lcd's. I think the repair projector has the modern version of the BP, because it has Programmable blocks that you've mentioned in the description, but the steam version doesn't have any programmable blocks. The version I print/paste is the latest version on the workshop, after deleting my local files and verifying space engineers via steam.
The 2 LCD's that are missing can't be built because there are other LCDs in the same block positions. The 2 programmable blocks can't be built because blast door inverted are in the same spot.

i would recomend making an official interplanetary transport miner, i added a few drills to this and it works quite well just has some conveyor issues

im gonna replace a couple spotlights and add drills

Connect a large grid welder to your base and carefully rub the ship against it from different angles. The large welder should cover enough radius to reach the missing block

Hey there.
When stuff is attached to an existing build via a moving part, like a piston, rotor or hinge, you create a new grid. By vanilla, projectors cannot manage multiple grids and refer to the largest one as the main object.
The Skuld has no such thing, however, the wheels it uses as landing struts count as "subgrids" as well. But in that case you can just ignore the message.
Have fun with the game and the ship o/

when it says multiple grids arent supported only the largest will be used... does that mean the ship wont have something important on it? was just gonna print this on my server and got that message just wondering a bit new at the game still

That is literally the best small cargo ship I have ever used! Great work!
