Second Wave Remastered: Full Crew Avenger (Updated V.2.2)

Ever notice that the Avenger doesn't seem to have as much crew walking the halls as before?
Well, now you can have back your Avenger teeming with Activity!

***Notes***While this works with Vanilla, a Vanilla specific version has been added for user convenience.
It is located here: http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=654623819

What this mod does is boost the MaxVisableCrewConfig for each graphics quality level to 60. This way, no matter your settings, it should return the crew size to normal.
It's a quick edit of the XComUI.ini for those who don't want to modify the .ini themselves.

This is literally a lightning fast "Bug Fix," something that the Dev's will probably remove the need for in only a few patches time.
Still, it is nice to have, and it was a real quick fix.

If you'd rather do it yourself, simply go to XComUI.ini in your Config folder, look for [XComGame.UIOptionsPCScreen], and change the MaxVisibleCrewConfig at each level to your desired crew size.

V.2.0 Update Notes: A new tweak has been added! There is now a slight addition to the XComGameData.ini, under the [XComGame.XComGameState_HeadquartersXCom] section.
It boosts the NumClerks value for each act, increasing the number of Non-Soldier Characters able to wander the halls alongside your soldiers in each act of the game.
Maximum crew has been boosted from the mod's original 30 members to 60 to accommodate the larger number of NSCs, making the Avenger overall feel much "fuller."

V.2.1 Update Notes: Updated through the WotC SDK so it realizes it works with both. Also bumped the character limit up to 90, since the avenger has more rooms. Bumped up the Clerk count too.

V.2.2 Update Notes: Dropped the character limit back to 60 to help with reported performance issues. Users can still bump the value back up to 90 if they feel it is needed, or drop back to 30 if performance issues persist.

Installation Note:
Make sure you go into your game options from the main menu, and have it check your graphics settings for a default. Then save and Exit.
Exit the Game and Restart it. Load up your current save and make sure the mod is in correctly and everyone is walking around.
Change your settings to whatever quality you prefer, and have fun!

@schmvck Hey, glad to hear! :)

@Mertius Thank you! 60 seems to be the magic number (at least for me and my setup), performance is much much better and no noticeable lag on the avenger nor the geoscape :steamhappy:

@schmvck Yeah, it seems to be a bottleneck of some sort. I've not tried Iridar&Pepo's Memory Mod, but there have been reports it can mitigate the impact.

Still, I have been debating dropping the default character limit back to 60 for a while.
Originally the mod just bumped the ship to a flat 30 people across all graphics levels (the default maximum), and later to 60 - enough so that all 12 main rooms could have 5 people present (more than enough to ensure the barracks, bar, and HQ were also full as most rooms accommodate less). However, with WotC this was bumped up again to 90 to be safe, as Firaxis added more places for people to stand.

I try to avoid updates so I don't overwrite peoples' personal changes to the mod, but at this point it's clear that 90 is too high for a default - either the engine or the average user PC can't reasonably perform with that setting.

I'll see about dropping this back down to 60 soldiers, which should help alleviate some of the performance issues.

It's nice to see the Avenger populated and crowded, but sadly tanks the performance a bit too much, which I suspect is the issue with the game engine and not the mod itself.

@Sloane Girlbot Hey, I am sorry to hear that! This mod is just a small .ini file tweak, so I am not sure why it would be causing such a drastic impact on your save. Just to check, after uninstalling the mod and wiping the config files, were you switching between graphics settings in the main menu or the save's menu? The mod should not have an impact outside the running game session, so you should be able to switch between graphics presets normally from the main menu's option window. Switching to a different preset, saving, exiting, re-loading the game and switching back to the desired preset (while the mod is uninstalled) should revert the game to normal, at which point the loaded save should also act normally.

If the issue persists (especially if it is also happening at the main menu), I might try verifying the integrity of your local files. Let me know how it goes! I can be a little slow to respond these days, but I still try to help out when I can. ;)

subscribing to this mod has essentially bricked my save file. even after uninstalling it and wiping the altered config files, my game remains severely broken with incredibly long load times, taking 2-5 minutes to change any graphics settings, and sometimes failing to load save files entirely. No other changes to my game occurred other than installing (then uninstalling) this mod.

Oh, I originally had performance issues as well, but it was resolved by Iridar & Pepo's Memory mod:

So if you have memory to spare please do give it a try. The difference was night and day for me. :)

@Crimson Dawn Essentially, yes. The busier the Avenger, the heavier the hit. That said, it should only have an effect while in the Avenger, since that is when the crew is spawned and managed. Best of luck!

So i guess it comes down to whether you prefer lively avenger with mediocre fps or smooth 144 fps avenger that is not as lively. My fear is that the slowdown issue extends to the map screen as well and there i have more issue with low fps. But i am not sure why it slows down traversing too. I will do as you say and try to see if there is a sweetspot. My soldier crew is almost always less than 30 anyway and it makes sense they sleep too so i don't expect them all active at once.
