Airport Props
118 items
Description
Basic Info

This is a pack of Airport Ground Support Equipment (GSE) props. These are various pieces of mobile equipment for supporting aircraft when parked at a plane stand.

I have also uploaded a pack of hoses / wires to be used with these props: http://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1089251560

Performance and Contents

All of the assets share the same textures, which are 512x512 Diffuse, Specular, Normal.

  • GSE_ACU_Sto - Aircraft Cooling Unit (stored hose) [484 Tris, 87 Tri LOD]
These are used to cool aircraft cabins, saving on aviation fuel. Most Jetbridges have stationary ACUs under / above them, however, an external one might be used if the jetbridge one is non-functional.
  • GSE_ACU_NH - Aircraft Cooling Unit (no hose) [354 Tris, 37 Tri LOD]
  • GSE_ASU - Air Start Unit [427 Tris, 62 Tri LOD]
Also known as a "Huffer", these are used to start jet engines in the event at the Auxillary Power Unit (APU) is non-functional (this happens more often than you would think for smaller aircraft such as the CRJs and ERJs).
  • GSE_GPU - Ground power Unit [621 Tris, 61 Tri LOD]
These are used to supply power to the aircraft (instead of wasting fuel using the APU). These can also be used to power other pieces of equipment (such as the ACU). Most jetbridges have these mounted below / at the base of the jetbridge, and it is rare to use an external one when there is a jetbridge at the stand. Stands without jetbridges, however, will almost always have a dedicated GPU (e.g. on the cargo apron).

Notes on Ground Power Units
Most of these run on diesel, however, some can also be plugged into mains power at a terminal (either passenger or cargo). Aircraft cannot be plugged into mains power directly, instead, the GPUs will condition either DC and / or AC power to the aircraft (some require both, some require one or the other). As such, typically one side of the GPU supplies the AC power and the other supplies the DC power.
The GPU the model here is based on is a 90 kVA (72 kW) unit, which supplies 28V DC power as well as 3-phase (requires 4 wires bundled together - 3 phases + neutral) AC power between 115-200 V at a fequency of 400 Hz.
Most aircraft can be powered completely with a single ground power unit, however, the A380 is an exception, requiring 2x GPUs.

Thanks for the advice vasim, but don't have the solution as i have no assest showing up in my content manager, but most of them work (sry for the off topic)

@BRYAN I have no idea why that would happen, since nothing in the pack references them. Try to unsubscribe and resubscribe - perhaps something became corrupted. Also make sure they show up and are enabled in your content manager.

I doubt I will ever make a lavatory waste truck / vehicle, since an airport will have very few of those. As for a towbarless pushback, TomCat already made one (I plan on doing a high powered one eventually).

I was wondering if you could make a honey truck and a towbarless aircraft tug? It's all my airport really needs :)
