I've seen a lot of negative reviews on this game, both here on steam and by places such as IGN and Metacritic (though anyone who's been on the internet for a day knows that those hardly count) and I have to say, they are wrong.

Let me cover the most common negative points first.
You pretty much have to use a controller. There's little support for anything else. Which, while a shame, shouldn't be much of a problem for anyone dropping sixty dollars on this game. You can get a good controller for twenty dollars just about anywhere.
The campaign can feel short, but there's twenty missions that take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes (or more, I didn't keep track), so it's really YOU that just can't get enough of this game.
And... that's it. If you can get past that, this is a wonderfully glorious game.

Flying an airplane has never felt so fun outside of the actual thing. I'd dare to bet that this is even better than that at times.
The graphics are stunning and, from what I hear, require very little to run properly. I'm not going to buy a worse computer to test that, but if you have 8 GB, I can guarantee you that's enough.
The music, as usual, is outstanding. Every track in this game, even the background music for the debriefings is fantastic and charming. It'll make you quake with joy at the return of your favorite franchise for any veterans, will awe you with the sheer scale of things coupled with its music, will make you shiver in fear as your new, terrifying enemy launches into the sky, and shock you when that happens. There's about 8 things I could be talking about, and they all fit.
The gameplay makes you feel like the world's top ace, even if you've crashed three times on this mission for no reason other than your own ineptitude. Flying is just that fun. And, trust me, if you can (and anyone can with practice), use expert flying mode. It's how this game is supposed to be played.
The story and characters are great as well. It's got that slightly cheesy action movie plot that still is creative and fun enough to keep you more than interested, but have you laugh at times regardless. The characters are all diverse and properly voice acted. Your character, though he never speaks and is never shown (outside of the cockpit), is easy to understand. You can get a read on his personality based entirely off of the dialogue of other characters.
Multiplayer is perfect as well. The tech tree is universal across campaigns and MP, so you can grind missions to unlock a new plane and test it out before jumping into MP or you can just go with the flow and do it as it comes to you. All MP games are 5 minutes max or until a player or team reaches the the victory score (100k for deathmatch and 250k for teams). Even as you fail and get shot down by about thirteen missiles, you'll be smiling and bouncing in your seat, waiting for your plane to repair so you can get back into the action.

All in all, buy the game. Trust me, it's worth it.
