Crafted with love and great attention to detail with absolute respect to the original source material, no pun intended. It expands ideas, such as game design and graphical technologies, that have evolved over time since the release of the original.

The result of all those differences is manifested in Xen; It is a uniquely different journey for the Free Man this time around.

An atmospheric world where language and feelings are conveyed through humanistic behaviors despite there seemingly not being any humans to be found. Makes you question what "being human" is defined as and if the world really needs us to continue thriving. Gameplay is simple, puzzles sometimes are too, but the story whether told via subtitles or through the environment is engaging. Like a memory into a familiar, yet unknown, future one can only dream of not encountering.

A short, yet tense, experience. Allows enough mystery to let your imagination fill in some gaps, while drip-feeding you information through sound and still shots of pictures that you get to take. One of the most unique experiences I have come across.

If you are looking for something simple and quick to play in the background while watching a movie or show, I recommend having someone watching it with you or a rewind functionality handy because you will need it to figure out what is happening on that show/movie as this will take over your attention span, without you noticing, due to its easily addictive formula.

The most unique, memorable and exciting adventure in our short life time. A mix of intrigue with fear, dread and anxiety, yet so incredibly engaging that curiosity always prevails. Exploration at its finest.

Unfortunately, had to pay tax to acquire this very cute game. Due to this, I did not get the full experience of evading taxes.

A heavily inspired Zelda-like, rpg-lite, puzzle-dungeon, rogue-lite adventure with its own unique twists that successfully make it stand on its own. It is charming, fun, very addictive and surprisingly casual for the amount of deaths you will encounter. Some slight grinding is required, but does not feel like work! Dying forces you to spend your collected gems and gems equal upgrades! Upgrades mean less dying, therefore the fun lasts longer! Lots to do and explore and the forced world progress keeps things locked away just out of reach to make the gameplay loop bring you back for more to make yourself more powerful at every step of the way.

Quite lengthy if you really allow yourself to explore every nook and cranny of this delightful journey.

Fun little time-waster that is not very complex with a fun, minimal grind. Clearly a mobile game with MTX removed for a Steam release. It's over before it overstays its welcome. Worth a play through if you can find it in a bundle or on a good sale at or under $1.

Mindless fun!

It may start off pretty basic and repetitive, but Stubbs eventually grows on you. Pretty short, somewhat casual and a very quirky (almost non-existent) story of a retro-futuristic alternative 1950s where things were offensive and mocked pretty heavily in this parody of that period.

The Halo engine still impresses, but it is clearly showing its age. The checkpoint system, when exploited, can help you out in some rare and tough situations, but can also hinder the strategy that you are trying to accomplish. The large level design was great back when this came out, but now it may seem barren for no reason.

Overall, it is a very unique experience that should be tried at least once.

This game is a difficult game to recommend to just anyone, but is also not a bad game to not recommend.

While the game's design can seem rather basic, it is a rather unique take on the roguelike genre. There is not much hand holding, not much of a tutorial and it relies more on the player trying things out. discovering and figuring out what to do on their own with minimal help.

There is not much complexity and it is also rather short once you find your way around and how to play it to reach the end goal. The length is not a negative factor, but instead a positive due to how the game is designed to replay levels a few times. The random dungeon generation helps a little, but you will encounter much of the same after a few deaths.

Those without much patience should skip this game, otherwise the flaws and sometimes confusing design choices can become frustrating without coming in with an open mind.

If the art style appeals to you and the statements above have not dissuaded you yet, give it a shot during a sale and you may find a short and enjoyably experience.
