Absolute garbage.

Having enjoyed the original Mirror's Edge, I picked up this sequel knowing that it probably wasn't going to be as great an experience as the first game... but...

This game takes everything that was good about the platforming of the first game, and throws it into a pit. The open-world level design makes for OK exploration most of the time, but then crams you into a story mission that showcases the controls stink on ice.

First of all, the game forces you to grind in order to unlock all the basic moves/controls you need. Wow, real cool making us unlock all the actions that were default from the first game!

Wall running is a nightmare. You either go too low, or straight up. For a game that emphasizes "free running" or whatever, this is certainly a terrible example. You can't get past any real obstacle without a trail-and-error button mash respawn fest.

Not to say the first game was perfect - but it was damn near. And somehow this game is a disgusting mockery of everything that made the first game good. This game sucks, and I hope whoever at EA thinks this was a good idea get a breeze block dropped on their head!

This is still currently THE BEST Demolition Racer/Derby game on Steam... possibly in existence. Solid physics, controls, and multiplayer support. There is nothing else like this.

Effort has been made to make the cars, handling, and upgrade systems well balanced. The game is well optimized. It looks great, and your speedo won't drop a notch when you cram a stiff one into your opponent, and collateral goes flying everywhere. (I.E: The game stays sync'd, and maintains FPS, no matter what is happening!)

Also: This is a pure DRIVING game! There are no consumables, there are no power-ups, there is NO BOOST! Nothing is standing in your way and victory other than how well you can actually drive your car versus other players.

For me, this all adds up to a really fun time. If you don't like the sound of that, you're probably better off playing the latest game that rhymes with Knee Four Pee.

"Wolfenstein: The Old Blood" is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable single player FPS experiences I have ever had. The most intriguing aspect of this game is the quality in art direction and level design. From the very first frame to the ending credits, every environment has an immersive scale and engaging atmosphere, resulting in beautifully crafted stages that are as amazing to admire and explore as they are satisfying to cover in Nazi blood.

While some levels may feel a bit linear or derivative, there are plenty of secret areas and alternate pathways that will reward players’ powers of observation and exploration. Needless to say, if you’re not interested in WWII themes, or find sneaking around eerie labyrinths to be boring, there’s not much to see here... But if that’s the case then why are you playing a Wolfenstein game? It’s the little details here and there, and the overall care put into level design that give this game its outstanding character.

My biggest issue with the game (spoiler alert) comes in the third act when the undead is introduced as a new opponent in the game. Campy supernatural forces in a Wolfenstein game are totally appropriate, but did it really have to be zombies? The game goes off the rails a bit too much for my taste, and while the zombie plotline runs throughout the story from beginning to end and is foreshadowed, the player’s sudden confrontation with them after completing more than half the game makes the zombies themselves feel shoved in, resulting in a few missions/stages that feel tedious and really bog down the gameplay.

As far as technical aspects go – the game feels really solid, and thoroughly play-tested. I didn’t experience any glitches or obvious flaws in design, but the difficulty may spike up suddenly, which is fine. The A.I. opponent behavior is refined and human-like - the Nazis will use effective cover and positioning to pressure the player, throw grenades, and even retreat in panic when the player goes "Uber" on them. One boss I encountered was absolutely and totally intimidating, until I discovered a cheap safe spot which I’m sure the developers did not intend to create. Thankfully these moments are rare, and frustration is curbed by thoughtful placement of save points within each level. 7.5/10

At first a third-party mod for Half-Life Deathmatch, Counter Strike became one of the most recognized and accoladed FPS's amongst the PC gaming community, and 1.6 is still going strong with hundreds of servers available free-to-play worldwide, even after the release of Source (the newer version of CS using the HL2 engine).

Nothing comes close to the intuitive physics and control provided by the old-school Half-Life 1 engine. Clever map design, in combination with a wide (but not overly-acclectic) collection of firearms and equipment at your disposal make for exciting deathmatch-style firefights as well as situtions requiring strategy and coordination with teamates.

The beauty of this game is it's simplicity, and diversity of action: There are no classes, no upgrades or bonuses, and nothing giving any player any sort of in-game advantage over another, save for skill and knowledge of the game. A large arsenal of uniquely-tuned weapons, CS's worldwide appeal and player base, and a plethora of every map type you could possibly imagine make for some very memorable gameplay experiences.
