I was thrilled playing this one. Pendulo Studios definitely learned a lot from their previous games. I enjoyed the story from Beginning to End, although a teency bit disappointed that although it says it's about all the Hollywood monsters, there were very few characters. There were more robots than monsters to be honest, and they (the robots) all look the same. I guess I can imagine making 3D models just for background could prove to be harrowing (but what about Eva Morte and the Grim Reaper).

PROS:
> Fun adventure story with a good sense of humor
> Really likeable main characters, both of them had an ample amount of participation and screentime
> Sensible puzzle logic, I hardly needed to use the hint system (except for that heiroglyphics one UGH!)
> Easy to use interface
>> It has a hotspot system, a hint button, and double clicking causes fast travel

CONS:
> I encountered a few bug crashes during scenes and kissed my progress goodbye since I often forgot to save (so tragic I saved in chapter 1 but I was already in chapter 4, I had to speedrun it all over again)
> Some interaction spots (especially Professor Fly) are right at the top of the screen, which you can have a hard time clicking because hovering your pointer on top brings down the menu buttons. So honestly it's a poor choice of placement, the menu works much more effectively if it rested at the top right corner with smaller buttons instead
> Has a bit of backtracking gripes since clicking on the next location doesn't instantly transport you (unlike in Runaway)
> It's shorter than I hoped it'd be, as an adventure game 5 hours is satisfying but I was really pulled in by the characters and wish it was longer, Liz is so interesting especially her family
> The tango puzzle is a pox on humanity and I hope Pendulo would step on a lego for it

Overall, it's a great Point and Click adventure, I definitely have no regrets buying and playing it. It convinced me to look up the original game Hollywood Monsters (The Next BIG Thing is called Hollywood Monsters 2 in Europe, I think.) I was surprised that it's actually more of a remake than a sequel, a lot of the story and characters were reused.

Honestly, I'm glad I stuck through to finishing this series, I'm so glad that they made up for what the previous games lacked and then some. They were definitely aware of how badly structured the 2nd one was lmao there were a bunch of jokes about how poor it was here and there. They definitely listened to their consumers. This instantly became my fav of the whole series, it's really well made for me. I'm super happy they fixed where the plot was going and steered it to a better direction.

Pros:
> They cleaned up the character models and visual art---now it looks sleek, finished and it could very well contend with more current/modern point and click games
>>> I just really love how the environments look now, it's so pleasing to the eyes and they definitely played with panning locations and rooms having more than one angle
> Gina and Brian finally get the character writing they both deserve and they have lovelier voices AND dialogue to boot
> In-game hint system and hotspot/location viewer! No more getting lost, not knowing where to click or not knowing what to do!
> The story definitely has more backbone and adventure into it now, it feels more Broken Sword than Sam & Max now (I loved Sam & Max and silliness worked tons better for them than for Runaway)
> Love the silly meta jokes when you hover over things

Cons:
> The save system is still pretty adamant about having a slot for every save you make instead of opting to replace an older save
> I still do kinda prefer first game's nerdy I-just-wanna-go-to-Berkley Brian

This was...pretty much a disappointment for me. Not a huge one, more like a big meh feeling. I think the only upsides were the new environments/backgrounds and that they finally cured the game of pixel hunting-itis. The items you can interact with and pick up were a lot more visible and obvious now.

But then, everything else seemed to have rolled downhill from there. I brushed it off initially from the first game since I was convinced it was a one time thing, but sadly, they kept the glaringly racist caricature of a character (Joshua) and made him part of this game's main story. And the main plot itself was just so disappointing in comparison to the first. Joshua's mission from the first game should have been kept as just a silly joke to help Brian with his main goal, how did it escalate to become the second game's plot? Just...no. I thought it could be as fun of a mystery as the Broken Sword series, but it just got too ridiculous as soon as chapter 3 to 4 rolled in.

And ultimately, I feel like taking back what I said in the previous game's review about Brian. In the first game, he was sweet, nerdy and polite but here he had finally transformed into the generic douchey protag I said I was glad I didn't experience. Such a travesty, I really liked Brian in the first game. I'm so sad with what he's devolved into. I think other reviewers expressed it better about his poor character development. Why??? What were the writers thinking???

I also have gripes about how in Chapter 2, you had to loop the conversation with Flowerpot (and the guard) to get to Kordsmeier over and over again. I don't want to have to deal with that more than once. And Sushi's VA sounded really robotic and slowly that it was pretty aggravating.

A surprisingly smart and genuine adventure game that didn't rely on shallow humor to supply it with entertainment.

Unfortunately, the graphics didn't age well and the character models and game play were pretty clunky. Items were pretty difficult to distinguish from the background, and the save system (at least for me) doesn't allow you to save at the same slot. Pixel hunting frustrated me mostly, I had to pull up a walkthrough from time to time because apparently I always miss a few items I didn't even realize existed at the scene.

I really liked the characters, especially the side characters. They were all pretty endearing that they were useful, most of them had brains, and the MC didn't mock them or be unnecessarily mean (unlike a few AG protags...) All in all, I look forward to playing the sequel and praying it improved its item placement.

A bit of a letdown in comparison to the first, but it didn't hamper my enthusiasm to play it too much. Although it's considered a sequel thanks to recurring characters, it felt like a completely different story. I agree with some reviewers that the Magic Mirror was not initially a villain, he'd only punished the children because I assume they had broken him. To see him with a different personality was...kinda disappointing.

It would have worked much better if Tommy wanted to go into the worlds his mother spoke about so he'd have foolishly broken the mirror again or threatened it and the mirror retaliated by doing what he says although not promising that he'd be safe when he gets to the other worlds.

The main character this time has zero personality and zero dialogue; only descriptive narration to explain what you need to do and what things do.

They did up the ante with the hidden object scenes by rotating the items all over, in comparison to the first game which claimed that the object is exactly in the same position as on your list. They removed the 'place elsewhere' system which was what I felt made Mirror Mysteries a little more unique, and replaced it with your standard 'get one item to help you move on to the next place' reward that most HOGs contain.

There were also significantly less worlds (only 4) and the time you spend on the last two hardly qualifies as a 'world'. It felt like they invested all their energy into Sky World and none into the rest. Which is sad since you hardly stayed in any world to be honest. The voice actors for the NPCs all sounded like they had to go really bad so they rushed everything they needed to say.

There weren't a lot of puzzles and if there were, they were so simple you'd have finished in a minute or less. Some of the puzzles were entertaining though.

Overall, I still really liked the first one more. I wouldn't call this horrible, but it is a little bland and I do kinda wish it was a more standalone game now rather than a continuation. I hope that if they do make a third installment that they go back into the first game's formula and build it better instead of passing off the series as just another typical HOG. It's just as short as the first game with significantly less entertainment value so I don't think it's particularly worth the full price.

Precious little gem of a game. I had fun throughout and am kinda bummed it was really short. BUT I was happy they've made a sequel with a hinting of a third one.

Not your usual hidden object game, since you're given images of what to look for instead of words, which is way more effective for me. The translations in HOGs are notorious for being either way too specific (why are there so many sextants!) or using a word so left field you don't actually know what you're looking for (hand tool??? HAND TOOL???).

I really loved the graphics (but I have to clarify I wasn't in fullscreen), everything was crispy and bright. It felt very fantastical and nostalgic. I loved the different worlds and the different mirrors.

I really liked this game, I don't know why. It was just pretty fun to me. I wish the character models for the family looked better since they all looked like pieces from a Barbie set. The conversations between the mom and the mirror were amusing.

Oh maybe my one complaint was the Forest/Faun World where you had to figure out the code for the faun's stash. With no way to go back to a previous location without completing the one you're on, you'd have to use a walkthrough to get the code since there was no prompting that you had to memorize anything.

Overall, it was enjoyable. Gogii Games really pick some nice content (at least for me, I was happy enough with it). I'd get it on a sale since it's really short but the time you spend on it feels very much worthwhile.

I'm particularly neutral about this one. I can't say I truly enjoyed it, but I didn't particularly dislike it either. I felt neither elation or tedium when I played it. It was very short, you could say the story takes place in 5 chapters that last 10-15 minutes each. What I could grasp from the story is that Odysseus is a pretty swell dude with horrible luck and even more horrible friends.

I'm sure people who knew the epic of Odysseus would have more to say about the Cliffs Notes version that is this game. For me personally, I don't really have any complaints about it (given I have nothing to base it off of).

The puzzles were fun and the story's pacing kept my attention enough. I'm afraid it wasn't enough to make me say that I'd gift this one to a friend. But if someone happened to have it, I'd say they should play it rather than let it gather dust.

It entertained me for a good while and nothing was broken. I had a lot of fun with the HOs, especially with switching out the drawers but pretty much wept at the 'place where it belongs' section because the scene was rendered so blearily and microscopic that it was impossible to figure out where to place them.

It also kind of bothered me a little that the MC's logic was pretty skewed. Poor pigeons, poor people just doing their jobs! Illegal forging of documents! Splashing a guy with cold water! POISONING SOMEONE!!! Is Suzanne really the 'hero'!? There's also the obtaining of objects in the last place you'd think they'd be. Suzanne, why do you continue to give people unsanitary food!

Some of the puzzles were okay and fun, and the logic of what items to use and which direction to go weren't difficult to figure out at all. I don't think I could pay full price for this one since honestly it wasn't that long either with how simple everything was.

This was a LOT of fun but disappointingly not as long as I had hoped. I wish there were more because it was pretty entertaining, it reminds me of the Van Helsing movie which similarly has its cheesy goodness.

PROS:
> Some intuitive puzzles!
> Interesting scenery!
> I liked the interface (how you pick up items and see the sparkles and reading the notes)! No pixel hunting!
> MC's voice was pretty soothing!

CONS:
> Some objects in the HOs were hidden a bit too well, I'm afraid
> The iconic name drop was a bit...random and the actual Theater was probably the poorest/cheapest looking HOG scene background...
> Lots of backtracking with no fast-travel map to boot...
> Font choice is pretty poor, it ruined the whole aesthetic for me with how cheap it looked too

I wasn't sure what the bonus plot twist was, it was confusing in the main game, especially since the demon you're tasked to destroy was giving you clues and helping you at the same time telling you that you'll never catch him? Make up your mind LMAO! Overall though, I'd say it was pretty fun. I was interested til the end and for once, I didn't want the game to finish so soon. A sweet little gem for a HOG enthusiast!

It wasn't godawful, but it wasn't very good either, or even memorable. I'm not even sure how the title was relevant. Like others have said, this isn't your normal HO game. Cateia Games at this point, probably shouldn't be considered HO games, they're more like puzzle adventure games.

Pros:
> Map, Action Notifier, and Fast Travel! Thank you!
> It's got achievements!
> A little bit of interesting puzzles, some unique ones
> The item silhouette thing that tells you what things you need

Cons:
> The object you need for something is usually just placed in the same map, way too easy
> That said, some locations only exist for one object or puzzle, it ends up feeling like they padded it unnecessarily
> The story is so silly, so very very silly
> I wouldn't call some of the puzzles as puzzles, there was zero challenge in any of them you might as well call 'push the button' a puzzle

I'd recommend waiting for a really big discount or sale before getting this one.
