Didn't work, what a shame.

Not enough content for me to recommend this, if you want buy this on sale but even then its not worth it.

i've never given a full-ass review for a game but this will likely be my first'

PROS:
- the music in this game is really damn good, it's not quite like the NES but it's not trying to be, overall it's pretty damn good and i quite like it
- the spriteworks also pretty damn good, it all looks pretty appealing and its fairly clear what is and isnt an enemy generally, theres some moments where its fine and other times where it isnt
- the bimmy and jimmy boss was actually quite fun, unlike most bosses where theres one boss with a simple pattern which usually makes it either too annoying or two easy, theres two bosses with simple patterns giving an enjoyable

CONS:
- the bosses are pathetic, maybe its cause i'm playing on normal but they pose little threat and are at best pathetically easy and at worst a minor nuisance
- the level design is particularly atrocious at times, expect blind jumps and generally unbalanced gameplay
what i mean by this is that a stage will overall be really damn easy, but theres one part which is incredibly hard for no damn reason, this just ends up feeling really annoying for the player
- of the unlockable characters only one of them is actually useful, of which is kyle (guitar guy), mike's sword makes him basically useless outside of the occasional platforming challenge from his jump height and i only used the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ guy once ever

if steam had a "maybe" recommendation this would get it, if you're interested in hard platformer games and are looking for an entry-level game this may be something to try, however if you're a fan of AVGN be prepared for disappointment, as the levels themselves with an exception for ~2 of them (beat it and eat it and maybe laughing joking numbnuts) basically have nothing to do with AVGN and more just exist just because, and have sprinkles of references throughout to keep one who is surface level with his content mildly engaged

i lost a tainted lost c-section run because i couldn't see a host this game makes me wanna kill myself
