Very fun concept and constant gameplay changes are what you can expect from this recreation of Capcom's classic side scrolling action adventure. Enemy variety, multiple weapon effects and upgrades go very good in combination with this very fast game. Controls are great and super responsive (I played on the controller), offer excellent character and situational control and for this reason its way too easy since enemies are pretty dumb and extremely easy to defeat, no exception! This game is super forgiving, even on the hardest difficulty setting where everything except for one or maybe two boss battles was just a mindless button mashing with barely any strategy involved which resulted in total annihilation of every enemy and numbness in my thumb. Its still pretty damn fun but feels to me like a wasted potential for a very good, tactical, hardcore action game. Maybe not the the most memorable game you will play but certainly a fun one.

Pros:
- Fun, fast & fluid gameplay
- Smooth and responsive
- New move every now and then
- Beautiful graphics
- Freedom of movement

Cons:
- Very easy and shallow despite amazing character controll and multiple weapons
- Story is so unimportant that I don't even remember it now, couple of hours after i finished the game
- Would be much better if it had a good OST

Made by a single person, Albedo: Eyes From Outer Space is fun and unique experience, but also a clunky one.

The Game is completely playable and everything is functional but some of its features like the inventory system will probably make you mad more than a couple of times and wonder why did the developer made it like that, but other than the inventory, i really dont have any complainments worth mentioning.

Games retro futuristic vision styled visuals have their charm and did a fine job getting me lost in the game world and the monster desing fits the environment like a glove. However, the strongest point of this game is not its visuals or level/monster design, its the puzzles.
Puzzles alone make this game worth playing in my oppinion. They are unique and so very much fun that i was literally amazed by every one of those. They felt like something made by a gamer for gamers, they were never tiering nor did it ever felt forced do do them so i literally enjoyed every one of those, and the best part is that there is not a single puzzle that is like the last one(or any other puzzle for that matter) which is a real rarity nowdays. I can say that the puzzles put my mind and imagination to a test and admit that most of them were really challenging(i think that the puzzle difficulty is adjustable in the options menu if someone wants to take it easy) but at the same time, for the most parts, intuitive and self explanatory. Great job developer!

So, if you like adventure gameplay with puzzle and a little bit of action every now and then but at the same dont mind the clunky controlls for the entire game, then i would say that this game is for you.

Only played episode one and i liked it. Its a detective game with multiple actors and even more choices for handling pretty much every situation. The game plays kinda like a P&C adventure but doesnt have any puzzle sequences, instead, it allows you to progress the story in a way you choose by offering you multiple choices and then even some more choices after every choice you make and it also uses kind of QTE sequences, which were easy but fun, to replace the lack of puzzles.

However, this game is, in my honest oppinion, waaaay too expensive for the approximately 100 minute long game and note that this is only part 1 out of 5 or 6 parts that are planned to be released for this title, probably with the same length price tag as the first one.

So, if the price is ok with you, get it, its a fun experience that you can enjoy if you are into this kind of games but if you feel like its expensive like i do but still wanna play some detective and crime themed adventure game, get the original Still Life for the same price but incomparably longer content.

Bad port, feels rushed and very unpolished, its buggy, unstable, overly demanding, unresponsive at times and absolutely amazing! Despite all the technical issues that this game has, it kept me nailed down to the chair and i found it really hard to let go of the controller.

The Force Unleashed is a unique Star Wars game that combines very fast lightsaber swordplay and devastating Force powers combat system as well as some pretty cool envoronmental physics puzzles and interaction. Its core gameplay is simple, you need to get to a certain point in a level while trying to stay alive and defeat enemies along the way, but how you choose to do it is whats fun. You can beat them up with many different lightsaber combos, fry them with lightning power or infuse your lightsaber with the power of lightning and do both at the same time, push them away or throw them in any desired direction with little effort like a rag doll! Or maybe you prefer to throw explosives or drop heavy objects on them? Whatever you option for, you can do it, and you can do it as much as you like and at any time and you can even get creative while doing it. There is also a character progression system that keeps the gameplay fresh so you will constantly be unlocking new combos and force powers to play with as well as a few minor lightsaber modifications that you can choose from. Regarding gameplays bad aspects, i can only think of a cheap boss battles(possible minor spoilers regarding gameplay mechanic ahead) that are not rly battles in my opinion and i say this because the way it works, its impossible to actually fight with a boss since they always win, by easily interrupting your combo no matter what you do and how you approach it and deal some heavy damage to you in just 1 hit most of the time. Bosses are defeated by finding a specific move that will incapacitate them in some way, being that a lightning strike stun or a knockdown of sorts and then dealing as much damage as u can before they get up and once they do, you have to do the same thing over and over again until its HP bar is depleted because, doing anything else will result in your character being wrecked 90% of the time. Thats pretty much everything regarding the gameplay for the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
As for the visuals, the game looks fantastic and the overuse of physics really contributes to the feeling of the Force power since the world around you will react to its impact and objects will often bend or break as you unleash it on your enemies, tho, as i said, its really demanding and you can expect some FPS drops here and there, but, unchecking the "High Details" box in the launcher seems to improve performance quite a lot and doesnt really take away anything from the visuals so...

So, another faulty port that is still super fun and enjoyable despite all of its technical flaws simply because of its amazingly enjoyable gameplay. 9/10, awesome game, would play again

Ok, SW fans, please, hold on to your tomatoes just for a minute or two and let me try to explain.
I am aware that i have played this one for almost 45 hours, but trust me, you do not want to get this, this game will lead you straight down the path to the dark side!

Rant incoming:
Its broken beyond repairing(not exaggerating). Some things in this game are just not meant to function on moders systems and because of this, you characters will occasionally just freeze in combat for a few seconds, ignoring your orders completely, then reseting and doing basic attack to the nearest target even tho u canceled all actions, disengaged from combat, desperately tried to move further away, etc... Game will frequently slap you across the face by corruptin your quick save files, crashing to desktop or deciding to "lose" some textures, leaving whole areas of empty, textureless terrain, or sometimes even mess up character faces, cursor and mouseover feedback, replacing them all with a lovely white square. There are plenty more visual issues, like transparent textures overlaping PC and NPC models, soft shadow instant crash, video frame buffer not working and also crashing the game when cinematics start, but, i consider these things minor compared to what i have seen(or maybe havent seen would be more appropriate) since they can be easily evaded and worked around by turning certain features off.
AI is bad and companions will often get stuck in towns and narrow passages(especially if you use your speed powers with the leading character), they will run through mines that are detected(even when being removed) like theres no tomorrow, continue attacking when u want to pull out from combat, keep using the most simple ability/power when they have an arsenal to choose from, keep getting stuck and waiting in front of open doors(this can happen to the player too). Oh and i almost forgot the grenades which can be super cool, or tottaly useless. Cool if a character is stationary using ranged attacks, stuned or very often buged in place. If your target meets one of those requirements, its good for you, however, if the target decides to move at any time, you character will throw a grenade at the spot where the target WAS, not where it IS, and you will, in 1 second, waste a grenade that can easily cost up to 750 credits(and no, you cant cancel your throw once its starts), and there is no way to throw in to a desired location, only at a target :/
So why did i play it for 45 hours? Its cause im hard headed and i wanted to experience its story first handed since i really liked KOTOR2 when i was younger . I thought many times about just uninstalling it and moving on, but somehow, for reasons unknown i mustered the strength to see it through. And i would be lying if i said im not glad :)

If for some reason you are still willing to give this game a chance, i will quickly go over other, non-technical stuff:
Bad:
-Combat is boring, monotonous and not challenging, at least for me.
Its the same for every battle, engage, spam any attack or a destructive force power, and you will emerge victorious, and im talknig about the highest difficulty setting.

-Character progression could be a lot better.
This has nothing to do with how old this game is. If you play with 2 or even 3 Jedi characters, its very likely that 2 or even 3 of them will end up with at least 1 same power, due to a power level restriction and force alignment(tho having "Advanced Lightsaber Throw" on all 3 character was quite useful ^^)

-Game uses "dice roll" to determine the outcome of every action(im not 100% sure about this one).
Occasionally i would fail a persuasion check and my character had maxed charisma(and i mean maxed, i kept putting points in it at the character creation untill it would not let me put more, and i did the same with persuasion) and persuasion plus, i had headgear that was boosting it if i remember correctly, and i still failed some checks -.-

-All melee/ranged attacks are pretty much the same thing.
You can choose if you want to either power attack which will do more damage than the regular one or critical, which will double,triple... your chances to deal x2 of your weapon damage and lastly, you can option for flurry/rapid shot which will make that character attack 2 times in a single move. See what i mean? Although, from what i experienced, some enemies seem to be more easily hit with power shots rather than rapid ones and vice versa, but, it could all be due to a stroke of good/bad "dice rolls" that player can never see.

-Wookie dialogue.
I wonder whose idea was this. Thankfully, i have a "mute" button on my keyboard.

Good:
-Very nice story.
Simpe but intriguing, with few really good moments. Follower stories were especially enjoyable for me.

-Voice acting.
Just wow! So many choices, so many replies, so many possibilities! Voice acting and the amount of dialogue in this game is superb, this is a really big + for me.

-Visuals(What i was able to see at least).
Now, not everyone will agree with me because i dont really care about the graphics in games and quite frankly dont mind even if they are below average or outdated, but what i mean is that this game has really decent effects, models, animations(especially swordplay animations) and textures for a 2003 game but, i say again, not everyone will agree with this.

-Light/Dark side choices.
This has to be one of the first games to have a decision making system like this. Every problem can be solved in many ways and some of those ways will earn you Light/Dark side points that will affect players force allegiance, and even his/her appearance if you descend down the Dark Side path too much.

All in all, its not a bad game but its not really a memorable one either to be quite honest, save for the memorable bugs. If you are a fan of SW universe and are willing to face all the bugs and issues that this release will throw at you then i guess you will probably like it much more than i did. As for me, i think i had my fill, and as for you, you have been warned. May the Force be with you ;)

Another exceptional console game with an awfull port.

Do i recommend the game? Yes, by all means
Its so advanced for 2008 game, even today, almost 7 years later. It puts big focus on physics and creativity to survive. It lets you explore freely most of the time so you can look for supplies(even tho they are mostly easy to come by "along the way"). It has very interesting enemies and melee combat system, amongst other interesting and unique features, like closing your eyes to see some things better(yup, its a thing, you will also have to blink manually at times) and combining everything with everything to get a tool best suited for you current situation.
Games story is really good and even tho some people will say its "just another post-apocalyptic zombie game", this is not the case, first of, its not post-apocalyptic, its apocalyse preventing one and there are absolutely no zombies here(although some enemies do look like them :P).
Also what i would like to point out is that this game is made in a way to resemble a tv show. What i mean by this is that every time you resume your previous session, a "previously on alone in the dark..." will play and highlight key moments that happened to that point , also, every time you complete main objective for that chapter, end credits will roll, but, in adition to this, game is playable in 1st as well as in 3rd person, and 3rd person is very cinematic, with great movie like camera angles while 1st is very immersive so, pick your favourite.

Do i recommend the PC version? Absolutely not!
If you have XBox360 or PS2/3, play it on one of those instead, because, PC version is just bad, mouse and keyboard controlls are not that good, new PC's and systems cant run and/or configure it properly, visuals are glitchy at places and the game was never and never will be patched because the complany went bankrupt from what i heard.

All in all, amazing game, bad port, but since im reviewing a game here, imma hit "Yes" for recommended, an as for the port itself, you have been warned

I bought it cause trailer showed some pretty interesting fighting scenes, i had no idea what i was getting myself into :)
This game kept me interested form the very first frame and not once did i find it boring or repetative. Its one of those games that are easy to like and get into but hard to let go.

First thing i noticed about it was the incredible and trully beautiful art style which really stands out. Every area of this game is very well done and is enriched with an AMAZING soundtrack that contributes so much to the atmosphere and overall feeling of the game world leaving you no choice but to love it.

Second thing is combat which i soon realized is not exactly what i expected since i was looking for something with many, many, many moves to fight with but then again, it turned out that in this game its much more important to avoid being hit(could be due to my difficulty setting, cause i mostly go for the hardest one straight away if available) than to hit yourself. Even with few combos, this game managed to do what many games with much bigger move lists failed to and thats to make it fun, cause thats what games are all about, right? :) In addition to being fun, its also super fast and it makes you want to combo as much as possible and rewards the ones who do it with bonus XP

Game also has many secrets. Some areas will be inaccessable or, more like, unreachable at first, but as you progress with the story and as Dust gains new skill, reaching those will no longer be a problem for you, while some secrets are just well hidden and require certain clues to find, so, as a completionist, i enjoyed this gameplay aspect very much.

And last but not least, the story. I dont wanna spoil anything for anyone so i will just say that its pretty damn good, but it takes a while to get from intriguing to very interesting so, be patient :)

If you are having second thoughts, i say go for it, theres really no reason not to like this trully amazing game that is bound to stay with you for a long time. Hope this review helps

Only complainment i have about this Steam release is that it does not let me purchase OST! I really want this in my Steam library, Valve, plz fix

Beautiful, immersive, fun and challenging.

If you liked the first Darksiders game, you will love this one too, it has everything good from the first one and much more, like character progression choices and other RPG elements like equipement and weapon crafting to some extent.
This game features huge, beautifully designed open worlds filled with challenging dungeons full of danger, puzzles, platforming aspects and rewards.
It has faster and more dynamic combat than the first game since Death is much more agile than War, and you can choose which atributes to focus and which skills to learn and create a unique charracter to your liking. No matter which skill line you option for, you can still learn all the fighting moves, and there are plenty of these, use all of the weapon types and wear any armor you find without any penalty, trully, a non restrictive RPG.

Same as with the first Darksiders game, this one is also awfully optimized for PC and you will either have no problem with it, or have tons like i did, however, it can all be tweaked and fixed rly fast. I used RadeonPro tool to make it smooth and playable for me, and it will probably work for everyone else as well.

Despite the bad porting, this game is a gem and a "must play" title and i recommend it to anyone who liked the first Darksiders game and to anyone who loves a good RPG/Adventure with a fast paced combat.

This is one of those games that is appealing on so many levels. For start, i immediately noticed that the game is designed beautifully, from world to creatures, and ofcourse, the main character which really looks like the embodyment of war, wielding the biggest, and the most badass sword since Buster Sword. Story is very well written and actors did an amazing job voicing those cut scenes followed by memorable soundtrack. As for the gameplay, being the most important aspect of video games in my oppinion, i would say that the developers nailed it.

I have heard people comparing Darksiders with Zelda games and i would say they are right, cause Darksiders is one of those multy gameplay aspect games. You will be doing everything from world exploring, treasure hunting, money farming, puzzle solving, character upgrading and battling all kinds of enemies in this game.

Exploration is fun and very enjoyable because of the above mentioned beutifully designed world and many secrets that it hides. Often you will come across new tools that will allow you to revisit all those places you have been at before but now you would be able to reach all those previously inaccessible spots and claim their treasures.

Combat is great, and i loved the fact that every enemy is challenging in its own way and that you can easily get outnumbered and usually killed if you dont use all the tools and moves that are at your disposal. Its fairly simple but at the same time, requires concentration and awareness. You will want to learn your enemies moves and try to counter them when they make an opening or by executing a perfect parry which will usually devastate them. Sadly, this game has a reverse difficulty curve, meaning that it will be hardest at the start and in time, combat will become much less challenging as u grow in power. However, boss fights are amazing! They are a perfect blend of combat skills and puzzle, and you can always count on these to provide a fair challenge.

Also, you should know that this game is not very well ported for PC. Expect FPS drops in some areas(the Ashlands for me) and even game crashing, which, to be honest, happened to me only once, when i first ran the game and met Vulgrim. You probably wont be able to use controller unless u have original XBOX controller(my PS2 controller would make the game unplayable by fixing the camera at awkward angle simply by being plugged in), and no, x360ce probably wont work for you, so you are stuck with a keayboard and mouse. Another very annoying thing are steam achievements which you will not be able to get unless you are running the game for the first time. Every time you quit and re-run Darksiders, you wont be able to achieve anything. Luckily, this is fixed in seconds by simply quitting steam and re-starting it again but you will have to do it every time you wanna play this game.

I usually try to go in details with my reviews but, to be honest, that would be it. Game has a simple concept, A to B route, filled with battle encounters, secrets and occasional puzzles(which are also simple but fun), and its executed perfectly. If you take these bad PC porting flaws out of the picture, Darksiders is an amazing game and likely one that you will remember and recommend
