Does a couple of things right, and not much else

Huts nails the atmosphere of a peaceful forest, and it has mediocre hut-building mechanics (rotating about the z axis is a pain), but unfortunately there's not enough here to even be worth 20 minutes of my time, let alone two hours.

There is zero persistence. Whatever you build is gone the next time you start the game. Nevermind taking photos for your friends (who advertises screenshots as a selling point?), you'll need to screenshot your creations to preserve any memory of them at all.

Pass on this one. Not recommended.

Cute game, very short.

Recommended at a price point you feel comfortable with for about half an hour's worth of gameplay.

A very different insect-simulator from Bombini. More unique. Less good.

This was the second Sokpop season 1 game I played after Bombini.

Although it has a more quirky feel to it, the awkward controls, frustrating collision physics, and often unhelpful companion AI made this one a miss for me.

The Bee Movie: The Game: Except Not

A surprisingly strong concept demo for bee-based gameplay. The control system for calling and dismissing other bees is novel, if a bit fiddly. I do wish there was a proper congratulatory "win condition" for filling your hive - the existing ending is pretty lackluster.

I completed it in about half an hour. Pay what you think is worth that much time with a decent proof-of-concept demonstration.

An explosion-themed coin collecting game

It's very tempting to focus on the absurd CAR GO BOOM spectacle of it all, but that would misrepresent the thrust of the gameplay.

This game consists of bunny-hopping from one coin-blast pickup area to the other. Sometimes timing your blasts carefully, occasionally wondering who thought locking the camera to the horizontal axis was a good idea, and mostly just hoping the physics rolls the dice in your favor this time.

If you wish you could go back and play the CRASH levels of the Burnout series, pick this up on sale and have a giggle. Don't expect the novelty to last for more than a couple of hours.

Still, it's fine for what it is. Recommended.

An adequate bite-sized tile puzzler
EDIT: The patch update content is okay also

If you're wondering whether to buy this game, watch the first trailer for it. That trailer, for better and for worse, fully describes everything you should expect to see in Mars Power Industries Deluxe.

Difficulty-wise, it spikes frequently. I'd say the harder levels should be enough for anyone who wants a challenge.

The story is unremarkable. The developers certainly created an efficient narrative that incorporates puzzle mechanics, but the ending feels detached from that narrative, and the easter eggs don't add anything of value.

Provided the price point is what you feel 3 hours of decent puzzles are worth, I'd give it a lukewarm recommendation.

Space forensics done badly

I was REALLY prepared to love this game, after having played Tacoma. It looked like a hard sci-fi catastrophe aftermath investigation in orbit and I am ALL about that ish.

As the meme goes, my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

The message that the creators of this game clearly wanted to convey is completely deflated due to a total lack of subtlety. Not just in the message itself, but in every piece of text and spoken dialogue in the game. With how lovingly rendered the visuals are, it's baffling how EVERYTHING else seems like a thrown-together first pass. The plot and premise are half-baked, the characters are obnoxious, and the few puzzles in the game are so simple that a guide for them could simply state, "don't overthink it."

On the other hand, this game is so short that you could buy it, beat it, and simply request a refund if you feel it wasn't worth the money. I nearly did just that.

Middling Wriggling

Having played and enjoyed Snakepass, it's remarkable how some puzzles in this game activate the same neurons. As with Snakepass, placement of the head is disproportionately important compared to the rest of the body.

The difficulty felt just about right to me - but then, I was playing the levels in a near-random order, which meant I encountered some obstacles at their hardest first and at their easiest later. Some of the late-game puzzles were pretty frustrating (I did manage them without a guide), and I don't buy games hoping to experience frustration. I think I'll be skipping the original.

Is it fun? It's alright. There are definitely worse ways to spend a few hours.

Pretty, Dull

Discolored has potential - promise, even. There's good imagery and aesthetics, and the 1950's detective/spy setting is compelling. But from a mechanical standpoint, this is less of a puzzle game and more of a point-and-click title.

Every serious roadblock I encountered in progressing during my first playthrough wasn't due to grappling with a rule set or trying to tease out a particular solution - it was from not realizing a thing could be clicked on.

I completed two playthroughs in a little over an hour and a half, so there's little risk in trying this title - if you feel it wasn't worth the money, simply refund it. But this game sells itself as featuring inventive puzzle-solving, and I simply don't see that in this title.

Not perfect, but quite remarkable

I completed this game in about six hours, with the help of a video playthrough for the true ending.

First, its flaws: Half the houses are locked off until a day or two into each playthrough, which makes finding their different branches very time-consuming. The developers helpfully indicate which options will lead to a sudden and abrupt ending if you've reached that ending before, I really wish they could indicate which options lead to abrupt no-sales if you've picked that option previously. If this sounds like it would make the game "too easy," consider that it currently heavily incentivizes you to find one successful path and stick with it, ignoring the other times and paths.

That said, this game really nails its tagline of "everyday survival" - you're managing your levels of negative emotions while trying to maximize gains, and find every ending (or at least most of them). Quite a few of these come as genuine surprises, and are both shocking and often delightful.

It takes too long for what it is, but if you're willing to forgive it that, I think you'll enjoy it.
