Having to create an account and sign in to play the single-player mode is an automatic no from me. The community was outraged when this online-only thing was applied to the Steam releases of the 90s Doom games and it was removed in response. I don't understand why people aren't equally as upset with online-only single-player in this release. There's also a bug that randomly crashes the game when loading a new area or when respawning that has gone unfixed since release.

Even if those two things were fixed, I didn't enjoy this nearly as much as its predecessor. There's too many puzzle elements that completely break the flow of the game. It seems like every time the game's pace picks up and starts to be fun, everything is halted while I have to solve some pointless puzzle that feels like it only exists to pad out the game. This game rapidly and constantly shifts from being extremely chaotic to being a boring, Myst-esque puzzle game. The puzzle elements often have unhelpful or even misleading waypoint markers that can waste even more time.

The difficulties are also really unbalanced in my opinion. The easiest difficulty is sometimes still brutally difficult (I'm playing on a controller, so your mileage may vary). If you ever get caught without any ammo you are basically helpless since the melee does quite literally zero damage. I understand that difficulty is subjective and some people won't have this problem at all, but I don't think the easiest difficulty should be as hard as it is.
