To not to lie to you, I'm sure that there were no difficulty settings at all on release. So you just simply start a new game. Mby they added smth like a hard mode already or will add in the future cuz it's highly requested.
You asked why it slows down (game design)? Yes, I would explain it that way - If you are a type of player who likes to explore due to achievement hunting or like me, simply cuz you want to see everything the game has to offer, you will find yourself limited pretty quick and understand when and what to expect. As a result, the game becomes even more predictable.
My suggestion, play the game as linear as possible and you will be able to get the max positive impressions.
I understand it likely slows down in the middle but is there anything like a difficulty setting in-game to adjust at all or would you say it slows down due to game design? Curious about that one.
