This product oozes quality. One of the best OSTs I’ve heard, accompanied by unique and psychedelic visuals. The gameplay is solid, with a fully realized vision, leaving you content with the experience. It doesn’t overstay its welcome either, and also has options for new game+ and alternative endings.

Everhood features many gameplay difficulties, and allows you to switch between them at any point, making it very approachable for casual gamers, while allowing veterans to enjoy how brutally hard and frustrating this game can get. If you enjoy a challenge, the hardest difficulty will surely keep you happy.

The wide cast of characters are all very memorable in their own right, with good humor and dialogue. In a lot of ways, this games cast of characters and approach to story/endings is very reminiscent of ‘Undertale’, which was inspired by the ‘Earthbound/Mother’ series. Games also in this category are ‘Lisa’, ‘Omori’, and ‘Yume Nikki’… If you enjoyed any of these games, Everhood becomes a very easy recommendation. Also, while not strictly a rhythm game, its gameplay heavily reminds me of StepMania in the last half portion of the game.

Simply put, Everhood is great, with only one personal drawback – not having a dedicated sprint button (double clicking D-pad directional keys feels clunky). I can’t recommend it enough, and games like this are what’s keeping indie gaming feeling fresh.

‘A Plague Tale: Innocence’ is a visually stunning game, both from a technical level, but also due to its superb art direction. Certain cinematic moments mimic the color palette of an old portrait painting, creating truly captivating and beautiful shots. The soundtrack only adds to this experience, with string instruments juggling intensity and serenity between scenes. This is a cinematic experience, but that doesn’t mean its gameplay pales by comparison.

The game is primarily a stealth game, with mechanics involving line of sight, sound, light, and this games signature: rats. You’ll either be lighting the area to get passed the rats, or putting out lights to use them to your advantage. The Inquisition is the main threat – soldiers that search for you among the puzzles and scenarios you find yourself in. These soldiers range in weapon types and armor types, which both have varying affects on how you’ll approach the situation. Bows and spears can kill you at long range, while melee weapons are usually accompanied by lights, allowing the guards to bypass the rats. Helmets will inhibit your ability to kill certain guards, but the game opens up with options for helmets, torches, lanterns… And then they’ll come at you with shields and heavy armor, negating your options once again. This gameplay loop slowly gets harder, but as you progress through the game, you’ll get more options in how you can deal with these gameplay elements. While at the start it comes across as rather simple and formulaic, the game expands its areas and your abilities, giving you many ways to approach each scenario.

Because the games length is rather short, it doesn’t overstay its welcome, with each act feeling unique and dense… There was never a point where I lost interest, and in fact I only got progressively more invested in both story and gameplay with each new act.

However it’s not all good, with story elements impacted by poor facial animations and the occasional stiff deliveries from the English voice actors. This made certain story beats not feel as impactful, taking away from an otherwise good story. Nonetheless, this is minor, and overall doesn’t hurt the game as much as I initially thought it might.

Funnily enough, the biggest reason A Plague Tale: Innocence is worth trying is because of the “rat tech”. The technology to create thousands of rats on screen, and have them dynamically avoid light, as well as attack anyone in the dark, later on creating visual spectacles you wouldn’t see anywhere else, is ultimately what sets this game apart. Accompany this with great visuals and music, and a decent story, and it becomes easy to recommend.

First impressions: ‘Lies of P’ is the first game that I’ve seen do a capable job of emulating the ‘FromSoftware’ formula. Not only that, but it is a mix of ‘Bloodborne’ and ‘Sekiro’, with Bloodborne being an exclusive on PS4, with a 30 FPS cap, and Sekiro being one of a kind. While games like Nioh have also done a good job within the genre of 3D 3rd-person souls-likes, it’s hard to say that it emulates FromSoftware’s lineup enough to make all fans of those games comfortable with its rendition. Lies of P on the other hand feels like a FromSoftware game, almost uncannily so. With this comes great combat, well thought out level design, and a level of challenge that will make your achievements feel better than most game accomplishments. If any of that intrigues you, or you’re a fan of FromSoftware’s latest games, you’ll be right at home.

What Lies of P doesn’t emulate is bad performance – at least this early on. The game capped at 144 FPS manages to consistently stay around 130-144 FPS, even though I’m currently running the game 4K on max graphics… While I am using DLSS, to have a game run this well, and look this good, on a RTX 3070 – it feels good coming from ‘Starfield’ or other triple-A games riddle with terrible optimization and bugs on launch. The price point, at least in my region, is also a lot better than all these triple-A games coming out, making me not even hesitate to buy on release.

While others might consider Lies of P to be a shameless copy, I think that it is refreshing to finally have options. We have so many 2D souls-likes, but the amount of 3D ones that are this good is very rare, so it’s hard to be angry, especially when this games theme, visuals, and story, all feel unique and interesting.

The one downside so far is crashes. I have only had one so far, and luckily my progress was automatically saved, but it is annoying to have crashes present in a game where death sets you back this much. Luckily the developers are aware of this, and are addressing crashes as we speak.

Starfield boils down to: aimlessly wandering on planets; a settlement system that barely feels worth getting into; combat that’s better than previous Bethesda games, but worse than a lot of other FPS games in general; boring writing, dialogue, and story-telling, which seems to be a trademark of Bethesda games; overly expensive; somewhere between good graphics and downright terrible; tedious looting/trading, another trademark of Besthesda games; and way too many loading screens.

Don’t get me wrong, you can have fun with Starfield, and to some extent I did. The ship building, and banquet of choices make it enjoyable. Bethesda is really good at making games that feel like a buffet of slop to enjoy – none of it particularly good slop, but there is enough of it that it distracts you from how bad it really is. The biggest issue however is exploration. Bethesda has one thing down pat, and it’s exploration – the most crucial part of their formula, between having 100s of books to read, lots to do, and being able to interact with every object in game... Exploration is the key part that makes it all work. While there are times I feel like Starfield succeeds in this category, it is overshadowed by how much random generation and copy pasted locations there is. It’s like they decided to regress back to the days of Daggerfall for no good reason.

I originally gave Starfield a positive review, due to meticulous examination of its systems, and comparison to previous Bethesda games. However I feel like this was too generous, as it’s not like Bethesda should be its own standard, excused by the mediocrity they’ve been releasing for over a decade now. Looking at the past 30+ years of gaming, I could find 100s of games that I’d rather recommend over Starfield. While you could narrow it down by genre and features, potentially making Starfield the only game of its kind, I think this ignores the fundamental principle of quality over quantity... Starfield may have a quantity of slop, but none of it truly feels like quality when isolated... Even the thought of coming back and continuing to play this game feels like a chore... Like I’m just doing it out of necessity to justify my purchase, instead of an actual desire to.

‘Halls of Torment’ sets itself apart in the very ‘hands-off’ genre of auto-battler rogue-like RPGs, or as I like to call them: “Survivor-like’s”. It does this by adding stage dependent quests, as well as armor/jewelry that you equip in a Diablo-esque character menu. Each game you can only get a few pieces of armor, but you’ll soon unlock the town's merchant, allowing you to pass 1 item down a well per game, which you can then buy from him as a permanent upgrade/equipable. Bosses also function as proper bosses in Halls of Torment, with AoE and projectile based abilities that you have to dodge. This in conjunction with the ability to aim your attacks, Halls of Torment sometimes functions as a more “traditional” ARPG, than just an auto battler. On top of all this, you don’t ever have the issue of running out of level upgrades, unlike ‘Vampire Survivors’, which usually caps your damage off - this makes picking the right upgrades important, for example, you might not get enough movement speed or damage for the final boss. Each class here feels truly unique, and it is definitely the case of quality over quantity, with each character having their own specific main weapon, which will change what equipables you might bring, as well as what upgrades you might choose. It doesn’t vary too much, but it does benefit replayability.

The main thing that Halls of Torment does differently, and the thing that sets itself apart, is its visuals, audio, and music, which all mimic ‘Diablo’ 1 and 2. This overall aesthetic/theme bolsters up those who are nostalgic for those games, while for those who haven’t played them, will at the very least be charming/unique. I personally love this overall style, and wish more games would use it, similar to how we have a plethora of ‘Doom’-inspired games nowadays.

Overall, Halls of Torment is great, and there is a lot here already despite being an ‘early-access’ title. The price point is very reasonable, there aren’t any bugs or poor optimisation issues - it’s a solid product with no glaring downsides.

DRM and 60 fps cap is a huge drawback in my enjoyment, but it's hard to say it's big enough to warrant a negative review. Project DIVA Mega Mix+ is a unique rhythm game that sets itself apart from the rhythm game industry, so if you want this type of game, you're very limited in your decision making. If you enjoy the prospect of what Mega Mix offers, being both a vocaloid game, and a rhythm game with controller in mind, you will enjoy this game - no doubt about it. If even one of these things doesn't interest you, I wouldn't recommend buying, as the whole experience is based around these concepts. With dress-up costumes for your favorite vocaloid characters, MMD background videos, and sorting options to find songs from your waifu - this game is focused on the vocaloid fans' experience. It might even make a fan out of you if you decide to buy it, but at this price point, if you are at all hesitant, I’d wait for a sale.

Mods also exist for this game, fixing frame rate issues, adding new songs, skins, art, sounds, etc. So don’t worry about running out of content.

Bulb Boy is a very short click-based adventure-game, with a unique art style, and some real-time-reactive gameplay. If you can get this game for cheap, or for free, then you may enjoy it, but I wouldn't recommend it as a "must play".

Its story, while cute and somewhat disturbing, lacks depth or intrigue, and is not memorable. It's charming, but I wouldn't say it's something you'd need to experience. You may even enjoy this game more watching a YouTuber play it, than paying for it yourself, as the gameplay isn't complex, and the puzzles aren't hard.

While I'd say I enjoyed myself, I think if it was any longer, that would not be the case. Games like 'Journey' and 'To the Moon' are short as well, and I'd say my experience with them was much more memorable than Bulb Boy.

From my experience this weapon just isn’t that good for a shotgun. All the other shotguns are better, but this does save more inventory space. I personally think this weapon sucks, but it shouldn’t be a microtransaction, and it sucks having gameplay elements like this cut off from people who buy the “full” game. Only get it if you're buying the deluxe edition; do not buy it standalone.
