Darkest Dungeon is a heavy, turn-based gothic role-playing game with roguelike elements, focusing on the psychological effects of adventuring. Recruit and train a group of heroes and lead them through gloomy forests, ancient caves, infested ruins and more. In doing so, you'll not only have to confront the worst enemies, but also deal with stress, hunger, plagues, the omnipresent darkness and, above all, important decisions on which your group´s survival depends.

Some might say, that the difficulty level and the grind (esp. in the late game) is too high, even at the "easiest" level. But imho it is exactly how it´s supposed to be - a challenge at the highest level!


This is one of those games that you either love or abysmally hate. The pressure is high, you constantly have to make decisions between plague or cholera, your characters will suffer, go insane, get unrestrained drunk to forget the horrors of the last dungeon, droolingly enter a monastery, die in horrible pain and also contract syphilis without having sex. Darkest Dungeon is like your narcissistic ex-partner... and you are the one with the co-dependency - a relationship that you know is not good for you at all, yet the toxic attraction is so strong that you can't resist the temptation. Highly recommended for part-time sociopaths, masochists, or just anyone looking for a damn good, hard as hell and extremely demanding game to sink their teeth into.
