An update was released that removed the GWFL functionality but stripped all multiplayer and achievement features. Please put the older GWFL version in a beta branch like how it was done for Resident Evil 5.

It's understandable that GWFL was going to be removed eventually, and they even announced as such YEARS ago. But when you take away the player's progression in a silent update (no announcement as of right now), remove all multiplayer features, and give ZERO option to get any of that back (when it very much is possible! just look at RE5, or DR2) then that's just a complete disregard to any of your OG customers or the very few that are still playing RIGHT NOW.

The game isn't even back on sale and you guys are getting review bombed...

Played this when it launched and it's a fun little cat game. OK, maybe I'm a little biased. Despite the warnings about recommending a controller I managed to play most of the game just fine on keyboard on mouse. It does feel better to play with analog sticks though!

I remember there were ways to easily clip outside of the map and get softlocked but I think all those issues have been fixed alongside straight up adding a "unstuck" button in the menu.

My only real complaint is the price and wishing there was more to do in the "open-world playground" aspect of the game. It's a very short game for what you get and outside of just running around, looking at the scenery and messing with random NPCs/objects there's not a whole lot else going on.

Otherwise, it's a fun game!

For whatever reason, this core simply just straight up doesn't exist on Steam Deck/Linux. Steam's DLC menu shows this "DLC" as zero size and when enabled and installed, launching into Retroarch shows no changes. Interestingly, the Windows version doesn't appear to have this issue.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I doubt that as I've seen other users report about this issue as well. Will update this review if this gets fixed, if ever. Seems like it's been like this for years now.

EDIT 11/30/2024: I haven't been paying attention until just now but in April, a few months after this review, they went and added the DRM warning on the store page. The fact that it took SEVERAL MONTHS to add just a simple text warning on their store page to warn consumers is baffling. Despite that, my view on the matter hasn't really changed.

This game was updated at some point and time out of nowhere with NO announcements or anything that includes some shady DRM that I've never heard before called "The Enigma Protector" that supposedly reduces performance and introduces stutters.[x.com] You can verify it's inclusion by using a Hex editor and searching the title. It also apparently prevents modding, but I don't even use mods.

While looking into this whole thing, I found this presentation from CAPCOM where they actually say "all mods are defined as cheats" so to them, their stance is that modders should be punished. OK, but the fact that I, a normal end-user that DOESN'T mod, is still getting punished by this garbage DRM is just... WHY? Why am I getting punished for something I didn't do?

Denuvo on newer titles (Resident Evil 7 & 8) is annoying until they eventually get removed, but retroactively going back through your company's catalog to add this DRM with no notice, update announcement, or even a disclaimer on the store page is nothing short of just malice.

Don't support these practices.

EDIT 1/31/2025: the game came out, was even worse than before, and is already shutting down again lol gg ez ownage i deleted my wb games account bye bye

How does a "Free-to-Play Open Beta" have deluxe editions and entire seasons for a whole year, only to then get casually pulled off storefronts and shutdown until "early" 2024? The only saving grace of any of this is that local matches (all characters unlocked) will still be possible according to the FAQ[multiversus.com], so it's not all exactly doom and gloom. And hey, maybe the game WILL be better when it comes back, but they haven't actually shown anything so... However, the people that actually spent money...

The store page never mentioned anything about this game being in "Open Beta" (the recent news & events mentioning "open beta" in their titles do NOT count) until you get to the title screen should be illegal. Fun fact: the different editions you could originally buy USED to mention that you were buying an "Open Beta" back when the game was available for "early access" the week the game was released on the storefront, but about a week afterwards when the game """launched""" that text explaining such was REMOVED. Here's a comparison of the "standard edition" store package mentioning it a week after it came out: July 21st[web.archive.org] where it can be seen and on July 31st[web.archive.org] where the "Open Beta" sentence was removed.

If you have spent $100 for the "premium" edition, YOU are the reason why publishers do this kind of thing.

The game/port is "OK" on it's own (3 is a much better game imo) but for the love of god PLEASE fix the mouse controls. You guys forced mouse acceleration when this launched, and now with your first patch the camera sensitivity (even with it maxed out at 100) is so unbelievably slow that it's actually unplayable. Genuinely cannot finish the game now, thanks!

You guys released a patch that was supposed to fix the mouse movement but only broke it even more. How did nobody notice the god awful mouse controls before releasing both the game and the patch?!

Early Access Review
I can no longer play VRChat anymore without the use of mods. The mods I use have been important and essential for the best experience I could possibly have on this game, and now with the latest inclusion of EAC in this update, it makes VRChat impossible for me to enjoy now.

The VRChat developers would rather remove the work that modders have already put in for them only to add them back into the game possibly YEARS down the line with possibly less features. All while they continue to sell you a garbage subscription service.

On their blog post[hello.vrchat.com] about this update, they specify that they wish to be more transparent about what they are exactly doing... But in the FAQ section they directly mention how they're "working with mod creators" and "got more on the way [in regards to mod features being officially implemented]" but don't mention anything else besides those exact vague statements.

So which is it then? Are you intentionally trying to be misleading with your community or do you have nothing at all planned in regards to officially implementing this stuff?

Early Access Review
It's difficult for me to describe what kind of game Tower Unite is like. Although you can play the minigames and attempt to reach the many milestones the game offers, it succeeds the most with it's social aspect and super unrestricted and easy to use condo building which can allow you (and your friends) to build whatever they want. This game shines the most with it's amazing UGC and endless supply of workshop contributions.

Although the community is great at supplying content for the game, the developers are doing much of the same too. There's a lot of care and love put into the game with an overwhelming amount of detail towards everything. The lead developer (MacDGuy) is always listening to what feedback people provide in the discussions page and actively engaging with the community. I've even interacted with him on one occasion in-game, it was awesome. I have a 1000x more respect towards devs who will interact with their community regardless of how bad it can get sometimes. So I personally thank you guys for doing all that you do.

And yeah, the game still does have it's quirks, and maybe sometimes it might just freak out on some days if you stare at it for too long. That's just how it is when it comes to playing anything in Early Access. Despite that though, there's still so much to see and do. There's always something new to discover if you look hard enough.

tl;dr: If you have an itch to play a game that you can always come back to with your friends or generally just wanting to find a "chill out and talk" type game which you can totally spend hundreds of hours doing, then this is the game for you.

Not that great. Very short and doesn't provide much in terms of gameplay and story. You are better off playing something else like Pony Island if you haven't.

2024 UPDATE: Seems like they actually fixed it now... Haven't been properly paying attention to this game for a while now but that's actually pretty good to see that they went back and fixed the issue. Guess I'm a massive idiot.

Now go fix the RCEs[www.cvedetails.com] that has ACTUALLY destroyed the rest of the classic CoD catalog from being played, Activision.

Game is fine on it's own, but due to the lack of support from Activision, new users/owners of the game haven't been able to connect to online multiplayer/zombies without a modded client for almost over a year now.

It's not like Activision isn't aware of the issue either, but considering the game's age (and how it's still happening to new buyers currently), I highly doubt they'll do anything to fix it.

At the very least they should warn people about the issue on the store page or something so new players won't be completely confused as to why they cannot play the game online for seemingly no reason.

I'll get rid of this of this review if they somehow magically fix it and make me look like a massive idiot.
