UPDATE: Finished the final chapter and...

...have to say that I am disappointed with the ending.

First of, one already knows what happened here, why it happened, and how it is going to end, due to all the notes we find in the game. Nothing was really a surprise in the end. I had hoped for some "Wow!" effect in the final sequence, but instead all played out peacefully.

Second, I liked the epilogue, but it was executed in a rather cheap manner, just like the intro. Why? With an engine like that, the devs could have had a great final movie sequence to close up the story. Oh well.

All in all a good game, but it could have ended in a better fashion. See the ending of "Ethan Carter", which brought tears to my eyes as it was a truly shocking revelation.

My original beta review...

Holy crap! I don't recall the last time a game had me on my toes like this (I believe it was "The Vanishing of Ethan Carter").

This is still the pre-release version. They are currently working on the last chapter, and it has still many bugs that need to be addressed - I found none of them to be game-breaking, though. I am curious to be presented with the final polish of this highly atmopheric piece of work.

I will edit my review once the final version has been released, but thus far, I can only recommend this game. It might not be something new ("Ethan Carter" had more to offer in that regard), but it definitely is a fun game if you like to explore, interact, and be scared out of your pants along the way.
