As someone who is put off by anything related to anime due to it being something i've never really got into nor liked, I am rather happy to say I enjoyed this game even if you have limited knowledge of the franchise itself.

The story is basic yet engaging, to sum it up quickly, you'll play as a custom character of your choice (Human, Namekian, Majin, Saiyan or frieza's race) and have to help trunks, a saiyan from the franchise, by going back into past events of the dragon ball universe and fixing them. An example of this would be (Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler) Raditz at the start of the saiyan saga, instead of the usually weak raditz people know he's taken on a much stronger form and nobody knows why, you have to go and help goku and piccolo fight the now stronger raditz and make sure it ends in the way it did originally, with goku and raditz getting hit by piccolo's beam.

After story missions are completed, you slowly unlock side-missions relating to the story missions you did, an example of this would be to kill saibermen who were working with raditz, these give you experiance, mission rewards and a ranking from D-S (As far as I can tell)

Your character is fully customisable, with most of the moves used in dragon ball available, such as the famous Kamehameha and the galick gun and some more lesser used ones. When you gain enough experiance, you will level up and be able add points into your Ki amount, Health, Stamina amount, basic attack, super attack or super blast, which in turn makes the stat of it higher and boosts it. So it's very possible to make a character that uses a full close combat loadout and still have it as a viable tactic. On top of this, you can buy, find, or earn custom clothing in order to bost stats, such as Lord Slugs garb, or Turles's battlesuit, a wide range of clothing is available to suit your characters cosmetic and stat needs.

The combat itsef is very satisfying especially when you use your own custom character, it's very easy to pull off a combo even with limited understanding of the mechanics, whether it be shooting a kamehameha x10 or beating someone to a pulp in close range, it feels very responsive and fluid compared so some of the previous games (I'm talking about you, Battle of Z) The keyboard controlls are just as viable as using a gamepad, so people without one need not worry.

If I were to pick some negative aspects that push the game down for me, it would be the servers (Now mostly fixed) which disconnect you randomly, meaning you have to wait to log back in. And a lack of some of the movie characters and lack of character clothing, but it's still made up by what is available. Another problem i've found is that some special attacks are down right over or underpowered, the father and son kamehamea does the tiniest bit more damage than a normal one, while taking three Ki bars, while the blue swirl used by burter can deal nearly 3/4 damage of someones HP if they get in the whirlewind at the start, and this has a large AOE, so potentially you could destroy the whole team with one move.

Overall i'd give it a solid 7.5 out of 10, if it were to be pushed up to an 8 or a 9, the moves would have to be balanced out a bit more, and the servers would have to be working better, I would reccomend this to fans of the show who want a good game, but to those not into the game, it might be better to wait for some of the problems to be fixed, though I'd imagine they'd still have a lot of fun playing this.
